How long until "real" food?
himalaya62 replied to SleeveBeliever's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Possibly! But according to her the doctor said her sleeve was stretched. I wish it were not the case because I love the taste of beer but still not enough then a size 8 dress!!! Who knows. Although my NUT has confirmed this is a very real risk. ???? -
How long until "real" food?

That's good to know however I met someone who's sleeve stretched due to drinking beer and soda and now she is going to undergo a bypass. She's so angry at herself for going against doctors advice. I actually have met others that had the same problem in the support group. My doctor says absolutely no beer or soda again. I don't think I want to chance it. -
Good luck to everyone this week being sleeved. You'll do great.

My hubby rubbed my shoulders and that helped with the gas pain. Also try a heating pad. And of course.....walk!! -

We are so much alike! I did the same thing on my preop diet (it was day 5). Pizza is my downfall!! But after that I was fine and you will be too!! Don't beat yourself up over it. This little goof up will actually make you want to stay on your pre op diet. The day before my surgery was Super Bowl Sunday and my doc even let me splurge on a Miller 64 beer that day. But no food! Hang in there my friend!

Hi looking for info on UHC insurance
himalaya62 replied to Jlyonel's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have UHC and it was submitted by the doctors office on 12/31, they processed it on 1/4 and I called them on 1/12 and found out it was approved that morning. Ask for a approval code to give your doctor. if i didn't do that, it would've taken a few days longer for my doc to get the info and schedule me. -

Good for you Tstorm!!! I'm glad it went well. Mine did too! I'm already 11 days post op and not an ounce of problems. I'm still on my phase 2 diet which is still just clear liquids and protein shakes. Cannot wait till Monday to start full liquids!! Tomato soup will taste so good! I have absolutely no regrets!! My incisions are healed nicely. And I dropped 2 pant sizes already from size 22 to size 18. Thrilled!!!! -
I got roses and those aren't edible. Smart husband of mine....but we took my mom out to dinner and they had a wonderful meal and I packed my jello and brought a boullion cube and the waiter gave me hot water. I accidently used a straw taking my first couple sips of iced tea and realized what I was doing. Oops!!! No harm done though. Had a nice time and their food and desert didn't bother me in the least.

Hi I'm new, looking for advice on the consultation
himalaya62 replied to Celtika82's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi there and welcome! You did the right thing by joining this forum. I couldn't have done it without my new friends I have made who truly understand the emotional and physical ups and downs related to this journey. The seminar and consultation is mostly all informative and you learn so much. Have a list of questions ready and make sure to ask how many he has done. I love love love my surgeon and the staff. They are amazing. My whole pre op process including tests diet etc lasted about 3 months. I was sleeved on 2/4/13 and am THRILLED to pieces. I have already lost 27 lbs in less then three weeks. It will take care of so many of my medial problems and my primary doctor just took me off Lipitor today!! After being on it for 15 years that is a huge milestone for me. You will do great!! Your kids need mommy to be healthy and happy. We are all here for you and I think you will be happy. Just remember it is a lifelong commitment but we are so lucky to have this opportunity for a new life. Your hubby sounds like a keeper. I feel the ones who think this is not a good idea are people who are not educated enough in this procedure to begin with nor do they live in our bodies. stick with the positive people who will keep you motivated. Remember to study up on everything there is about the sleeve, the good, the bad, and the ugly!! Ask lots and lots of questions. Trust me the good far far outweighs the bad! It is the best thing I ever did for myself AND my family. Good luck to you. -
Good luck! You'll do great!!

Awwww!! I wish I were in the UK with you. My ancestors are from Somerset and my family name is Churchill. One day I will come to the UK to check out my heritage. I have very good friends in Liverpool as well. It doesn't sound much different as far as your pre op and post op diets are concerned although I wouldn't be allowed carrots for another two months. I'm 9 days post op today and would love to stay in touch with you all. I'm 50 as well with a 22 y/o son. My name is Marcy, but i live in Sunny Florida. Take care. Sounds like you are doing well.
