Thanks everyone! I just got fed up with the comments. I got a "keep it up!" again today. I smiled and laughed afterward. People are clueless. I really couldn't believe no one had written on this subject before.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Everyone isn't going to feel the same way, some want the weight loss to be noticed and acknowledged others don't. Here's my thoughts on it, if you don't like what someone is saying or if you feel uncomfortable tell the person....correct them (firmly but politely) if you do like what they say embrace their words and say THANK YOU. In my opinion sometimes we worry too much about what others are thinking and saying rather than taking that energy to focus on making ourselves better.
that's why I said "everyone is different" and "I may be more sensitive" several times. these are all things that have been said to me enough that I felt the need to write about it.

I wrote this today after a weekend of hearing ridiculous comments from people who would say they are friends. Just wanted to post it here because I'm sure many of you can relate. Feel free to link someone to it if they're that "well meaning friend."

I'm almost 7 months post-op. I've lost 78 lbs (326 at my heaviest) and yesterday tried on clothes at Lane Bryant. I brought a size 22 in the fitting room and it was too big - the sales associate brought me a 16 and it fit. I was in shock. I still see the big girl in the mirror. I haven't been a 16 in 20 years (since college). When does the mental catch up with the body?

Thank you Kristie! I've always had the attitude of I'm Going to Look Great no matter my size thing going for me.

I had surgery on 12-12-12. I was 320 in my before photo. I'm 1/3 of the way down at 250 in the second pic.

Surgery was 12-12-12 and I'm down 56 lb. my hair has been falling out like crazy for a month. Has anyone had experience with this?

I was told not to take it on the morning of surgery ( just to take my thyroid and BP meds) and to resume the next day. It was fine.

Hi Danielle what was the post op diet like? How long were u on liqiids?
I had Clear liquids for a few days, then yogurt, creamed Soups, then full liquids - full liquids is anything that is a liquid at room temp - so applesauce, yogurt, Italian ice. I got tired of sweet things. Mushy foods were hard for me bc I love a crunch. Now I'm at week 7 and my nut says I can have almost anything (no steak, drier meats for four months). I chew a ton. You will know quickly what your stomach doesn't like!

my nutritionist said soda and juice were no-nos. I drink things with Splenda - iced tea, Crystal Light, and diet lemonade from Chick-Fil-A (love that stuff).
-
I know how you feel - you're doing fine! My nutritionist said no juice, but all nutritionists have different opinions. I've had two stalls (sleeved 12-12-12) and one day the scale will move. I'm scale-focused too, but you have to look at your body and notice the changes. Celebrate the inches coming off!

I've been on two maintenance medications for anxiety for a year or so before surgery and I take Vistaril when I have a lot of anxiety. Before surgery it helped to talk to friends who were really understanding, cry, and tell my husband how I was feeling. When I talked it out I felt better. Sometimes Vistaril would be the only thing that really helped. I had to get to a place where I could tell myself that I was going to be doing some hard work for myself and that I would be healthier and more energetic. I'm 7 weeks out today and already off one blood pressure med and have a ton of energy back. Hope this helps.

This made me laugh hysterically. My fingers no longer resemble Breakfast sausage links - that was my first "not-so fat" thought.

Thanks y'all. It seems like that was the only thing I forgot to ask the nutritionist this week.

I was sleeved one month ago today and have finally found a Protein Shake I can tolerate Pure Protein from Sam's). My question is, do I treat it like a meal and not drink anything else 30 minutes before and after? I'm asking because my stomach has been so sensitive to everything I've eaten.

I didn't have to see one - my eval was on the computer. But I do see a nurse practitioner at Life Net in Mandeville on 190.

I wish you the best. My recovery from gallbladder surgery was much better than with the sleeve. You'll feel so much better without it!
