Have never taken a PPI, have I done anything bad to my sleeve?
bramptonian replied to mikeross's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL I know the "yankees" don't like us Canadians too much eh?! I have lost about 30 lbs too but I have been stalled since I got back from Mexico...not sure why but it is very frustrating. Your right men do lose quicker then woman but it's all good as long as it all comes off right?! You could ask your nut about the acid reflux, I would think if it didn't bother you before it won't bother you now. And if it does you have the meds if you need em. I have heard of people getting ulcers, but I believe it's from pre exsisting factors. Best of luck to you next week at the gym !! Cheers -

I don't think you need to take it if you don't have an issue. I am three weeks out too (yay), but my Dr said it's to control acid in your stomach but if you don't have any issues then I wouldn 't bother. I am finished taking mine anyhow, it was 1 pill am and 1 pm for the first couple of weeks then 1 pill a day for the next week. I did have issues with acid reflux so I had to take them, however now if I get any I just take a zantac.... works just as well. Good luck to ya, how much have you lost already?? P/S I love your profile pic, I'm Canadian too -

Awesome thread...it's nice to have somewhere to go where you can discuss some personal info. My hubby and I are enjoying each other once again Since I am only 3 weeks out I expect it's gonna get much better. We'll have the honeymoon we never had ! Lol and since I've had a hysterectomy there's no chance of an accident happening Enjoy ladies and gentleman enjoy

bramptonian replied to sarahp_newme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say try taking it really slow with your man. Pretend like your dating again. I'm sure you'll learn how to "receive" him again once you adjust to your new sexy body good luck, have fun and enjoy -
omg never ever again..

It might have something to do with the curry. I was told no spicy food for at least 6 months. I hope your feeling better really soon. -

January 2013 Sleevers?
bramptonian replied to LenaVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a site I found "bizrate" they have a number of different types of chewable protein tablets. I think I may order some as I'm having some difficulty drinking the protein drinks. -

Are the protein shakes you guys drink whey based ? I have two different kinds I bought both are whey based and I find that they leave a film on my tongue...disgusting !! Maybe I need to try a different kind, based on something else maybe ? -
2 1/2 weeks post op
bramptonian replied to bramptonian's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi all. It's going ok, I have decided to start my pureed diet a few days early. According to the plan I was given by the Doctor I should start 3 weeks after surgery....well one of the papers said that I also have one from the Doctor that says start pureed foods 2 weeks after surgery. I find that I am getting alot of headaches, I spoke to my Doctor about this and she told me that I am probably not getting enough protein in my system (I really can't stand the protein shakes) so I will start with one pureed meal a day and continue with the broth, yogurt etc and see how that goes. I do find that I am hungry, which kind of concerns me but at the same time I think it's ok because I can't eat a whole lot anyway. Has anyone else gotten the feeling of hunger ?? I have lost 30 lbs so far and I am excited to see what the future holds for me. We should have a one year anniversary party in Mexico to celebrate all our hard work !! -

I went to a hospital. I had the same concern ad you. So with Dr. Joya I went to Amerimed hospital, I just felt more comfortable having this done in a hospital, and what a hospital the rooms are awesome there more like private suites. All the equipment is top notch (was another concern). I didn't need to worry about it after all. You might want to look him up, a nice clean hospital and a nice Doctor. Best of luck you

You can always ask people on here if they've used the Dr you are thinking of using. That way you get some opinions from real people, both good and bad. Good luck to you

Well I am still a little shocked that I flew to Mexico by myself and had the surgery done. I have never been out of Canada before so that alone was terrifying. But I did it. I had my surgery done with Dr. Joya, he was awesome!! I had minimal pain when I woke up and I was up walking around within a couple oh hours. The staff was great, although English was a bit of a challenge for some of them. The hotel was gorgeous and the staff was awesome. I would really recommend using Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta. What a nice place to recover. I get to start on pureed food on Monday, can't wait Has anyone else gone to Dr. Joya?? Any other Canadians on here??

You do have to allow your body time to recover, however the recovery time is much quicker than a bypass. I had my sleeve done on Jan 21st. I have been walking and walking since. I just bought a treadmill as I live in Canada and it's too damn cold out to walk right now There are a few things you can do to keep active, but walking is probably the best thing to do as it helps with the gas and also to help keep blood clots away. Your Dr will tell you when you can start adding more to your workout. Best of luck to you whatever you decide
