okay, how crazy am I? I've been tracking my calories and trying to stay really close to 1200 calories. Trying hard, hard. hard to loose weight. Working out, drinking Water, and watching my calories. Well, last week I said "to hell with it. It's not working my way, and I have a fill scheduled." I had a couple of days where I was above 1600 or well, darn close to it anyway. Ice cream, chocolate, chips, snarff. I figured that I would punish myself by going to the gym and using the scale. (The dance studio doesn't have a scale that I've found...) Well, imagine my surprise when I discovered that I'm down a pound.

It's *that time* - why is there so much restriction
vinesqueen replied to My_o_My's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My_oh_my why are you thinking that the mocha is a bad thing? Other that being a weak double and not the proper quad... (4 shots). That double mocha you are drinking, if you are using skim milk and not having a breve, has about 160 calories. But you have these nutrients, so I'm thinking it's a good thing Potassium 506.74mg 14% Protein 10.43g 21% Calcium 38% <o =""></o> Vitamin D 31% <o =""></o> Vitamin B-12 19% -
Congrats on your NSV! Don't worry, go ahead and wash it-- you're on your way to shrinking yourself!

okay, I had my 3rd fill wednesday, but I'm not going to weigh myself for a while. It is just too painfull. sigh. So, Jessie said that 1200 calories is too many, she said I might need to go down to 600 calories a day. This is shear madness. sigh. Well, because I wasn't losing any weight at 1200 calories, my new goal is 1000 calories. today I was about 1000. Yesterday was about the same. *sigh* I can't seem to get my Protein in then.

Serenity was AWESOME!!!!!!! It was totally amazing! My Dh, who picks apart every movie, always, said he had nothing to pick at this movie! I'm a big fan of Firefly, maybe not as big a fan as Nana~, since I didn't go in constume... Pay full price for this one kids!

torrilla are just fine for me, soft but not hard shells. Corn and flour, are fine, but I avoid corn anyway. Burriots and soft tacos are just fine. so far toast is a nightmare, soft egg bread, as in a round subway sandwich is went down fine. Cake, uh mixed results, but I am not interested it cake any more. Havent' tired donuts. Crusty bread seems to be fine, with brie and roasted garlic. Triscut... hmm, with care. Great care.

Am I being unreasonable?? Need Opinions
vinesqueen replied to Bensmum1109's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
well first off, you can't reason with emotions.... they're just so darn emotional. This is the main reason I'm not a closet bandster. I'm just not willing to put someone in the postition of *having* to keep a stupid secret. I don't want to be the source of conflict anywhere, and being banded is just no big deal. Of course, I don't care what anyone thinks of me, and I sure don't care what the gossip mill has to say. And Yes, I have lived in towns so small they had dirt roads, and the big news was when they got a traffic light out at the highway. Life is too short to have to keep secrets that don't matter. My career is security, so I have to keep secrets that matter. My band isnt' one of them, and I shouldn't make other people keepers of my vanity. I think you put your mother in a postition that was uncomfortable and unnecessary. Maybe you should appologise to her for putting her in that position. -
Happy birthday Capt'n Jack!

I'm not a doctor, and I don't even play one on TV. I don't know that you can drink too much, unless you are talking about booze...

Parvathi's Medium Paced Loser NSV List ...lol
vinesqueen replied to Parvathi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Bravo Parvathi! Excellent work! I'd be thrilled if everyone has their own NSV thread! -
Well, it's time to bump my thread. I have now had 50 NSVs since being banded. I haven't lost the 50 pounds that was projected, but that does not mean that I have not been just as successful as some of our rabbit brothers and sisters. I just had my 3rd fill this wednesday, and I am amazingly restricted, in a good way. Maybe I'll be able to lose 5 pounds by Christmas. But if I don't, I will be sure that I will have reached 75 NSVs by then.

Excellent work Kim! Please do keep editing your list, you will be amazed at how many you have had once you start to think about it. Beside, we have to have a paper trail, right? We have to have a list to take with us when we get inveted to be on Oprah, right? Right! Barkeep! NSVs for the house!

well, I suppose it depends on what you think of as a sip doesn't it. Before my husband was banded his sips were 1/4 of my drink! I think a true sip is just enough to wet your mouth, hardly more than that. It is vitally important to stay hydrated, and I don't think you can drink too much. Maybe if you drink all your water/beverage at once, but not by sipping. Try not to gulp at this stage, just little bitty sips, with the goal to stay hydrated. When you are up, make sure you sip constantly, if you are only up for such short periods of time. Some folks have said that they set a sports bottle to drip into their mouths... You were only banded yesterday, so be kind to yourself!

All Or Most Of Their Desired Weight Loss
vinesqueen replied to aaamom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
One think that is important to keep in mind is that you must pay attention to your Fat Free Mass your FFM number/weight. By the charts, I "should" weight 125 pounds, because I'm 5'5" tall. There is no way that I will ever be a healthy 125 pounds, because right now, if you sucked every little bit of fat off my body, I would weigh 148 pounds, bone and muscle. At 25% body fat I'll weigh 180 pounds, and I would look skinny. Well, skinny for a running back anyway. I can give you all kinds of statistics. All kinds. They won't mean a damn thing, but I can give them to you. And as a bonus for me, they will look impressive all all get out. Don't you pay attention to that 50% statistic. -
I started an Apple, I'm still and Apple. Sorry I don't have better news.

if you are in that much pain, please call your doc. There is no reason to be in that much pain! I'm so so sorry. The therma-care wraps were one of the the only things to help, but please be careful that you don't burn yourself. Do not fall asleep wearing one of these pads. (I've ended up with a 2nd degree burn from one of these little gems. *sigh* one way or the other, you know...) I ended up in the ER because I was throwing up from pain from my period. Please, please call. You should not have to suffer.

I think because you have a picture of a thin you in your head that you will have a better chance to reach your goal. I've always had a fat woman living in my brain. Even when I was a teenager, I thought I was terribly huge. But I look at my very old year books, and I'm the same size relative to the other girl.s Pictures in my mind... i'm working on changing to a thinner version... to a place I used to be.

I didn't need to sleep in a recliner, I did just fine on my super firm matress at home. You may want to steal all the pillows in the house though

Welcome to the Bande Gentry Glo! It really does get better, honest! I'm sorry you had such a sucky time at the hospital, but I think any one whos spent time in hospital can match those experiences. Hospitals are full of sick people, they are not intended to be resorts. At least you were not sick, that's not to say you didn't feel crappy... One of my stays in hospital for asthma was like that, the poor old woman was shouting "HELP!" and "They're killing me!" all night. It was so bad I went to sleep in the patient lounge! Boy did I get yelled at for that! There was also the many times when I was in the resperatory ICU ward, which was right next to the Detox ward... Once some guy was barking and howling like a dog and someone else was yelling about how he was going to kill everyone .... It's possible that you were a little dehydrated, which is why they had trouble with your veins, and it's also possible that you are just a really had stick. They have to pack my arms in hot towels most of the time now to find a vein. Most people report that they had to sleep in a recliner for several days after surgery. I'm sorry your research didn't prepair you for this. And yes there are going to be times when you gurgle. Like Kathy said, smaller sips will help with the noise. Sometimes you might just be sitting there and suddenly your belly will make the oddest noises! Oh, and your are going to love this, you will now become a big gasbag. farting and burping will become your constant personal music! You must drink. YOU MUST DRINK. you cannot wash out the anethetic out of your body, which is making you feel like crap. You cannot take your pain meds if you don't drink, and you will feel like crap. Buck up little camper! Buck up!

Excellent work Kathy!

I needed to use Altoids. Also, I would strongly suggest talking to your doc about going off your meds. You were put on them for a reason ...

Lisa, if they aren't good kissers, you can always teach them to be good kissers. My DH started out not being a very good kisser, but he has always treated me like his Queen. And I'm happy to report his kissing has vastly improved..... <melt>

Excellent work Sarah! See, doesn't it make a huge difference when you see everything all in once place!

Well, we know one Bandster who won't be posting on the Underwear Thread in the Lounge! Laughing my butt off! (well, figuratively anyway!) -
Maybe I am thinking of something else when I think of "Tribe of the Large" than what you have in mind Zoe. My family is simply built different than most people. I will never be a size 6, I will never be a size 10 either for that matter. Size 12 may even be pushing it for that matter. And I expect that I will one day reach size 14. It may take years, but I will get there. But I will always be "large." I will always be clinically obsese just going from height weight charts. I'm glad they now have the deviced that will measure your actaul body fat %, since the charts will be wrong for us.
