i have a PD question please....!
vinesqueen replied to a_bit_pink's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That was a PB from the sounds of it. It doesn't mean the band is too tight, it just means that you had trouble with the milk and cookies. It could have been too many cookies, It would have been all sorts of things. -
Well, it's not like he didn't ask for it. I'd say it was completely justafiable.
-
You are too funny!
-
Hey Madona, I don't think you are a failure, your BMI is still down, and you haven't regained any of the 36 pounds you lost, right? Sure sounds like a success to me!

*snork!* It is never too late to start excersizing, nor too early. Chunk's suggestion for window shopping is great. Of course, we don't know what you starting fitness level currently is. You might want to hire a personal trainer and get a fitness assesment. Or you might want to check out your local college to see if they can help you out there.

I'd wait until you get home from your vacation. You don't want to end up too tight far from home. Get a fill when you get home.

Capt'n Jack, sir, I am aways in awe of your way with words.

vinesqueen replied to pamela's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry Pamela, I didn't experience this, but I went back to school ... And I was still very ill with breathing problems that I was probably too tired to be weepy... -

6th Month Bandiversary and I Did It!
vinesqueen replied to BeckyinTexas's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats Becky! Now that you've posted your amazing loss, you need to post where you started from. This will give people a better understanding of your journey. I know you started at a very high weight (not as high as my DH though ) and people need to understand that your journey is quite different from most. You've done amazing work and have every right to be pleased as punch! -
dang it! Shouldn't I have the hang of this by now?
vinesqueen replied to icecreamjunkie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
while an all ice cream diet does have all of the appeal of, well an all ice cream diet, it really isn't good for you. Yes, you are too tight, go for an unfill. -
Why am I so hard on myself??? (long)
vinesqueen replied to StartingOver's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Holy crap! You set yourself up to fail by setting a totally unrealistic goal, and when you didn't reach the unatablable, you feel like a failure? Snap out of it! Zoe Get your boot out for this one! Tough love time for Corinne! I don't have any idea why you set such a goal. Is this what your doctor's office set for you or do they even know you set this for yourself? As for the sizes thing. I have some size 20s are too big and some 22s that I feel like I'll never fit into. It's very likely that the french fries are making you feel crappy. When I eat a lot of potatoes my joints hurt. Just a matter of fact. As for the mayo thing, well, it sounds like your are punishing yourself. It is also possible that after 6 months of a very restictive diet (probably low fat) that your body has said that you need to have fat. We all require fat to metabolize certian vitamines, notably A, E, K and some others that I don't rember off the top of my head. You know what you need to do woman, you need to get back on the wagon. You need to start posting more. And you need to beat yourself up less. You've lost more weight in 6 months than at least 2 Turtles have lost combined in a longer period of time. Just to put things in perspective, you've lost a 4th grader. You've lost a average 9 year old boy. -
My DH had a similar experience as well. He was in hospital for almost a week. Of course, he had special issues all his own

Ah ha ha ha ha! There is a world of different between drinking water and eating chicken! I generally have no restriction when I drink water either, although I did have this one episode with crystal light... Chicken is the thing I probably get stuck on the most. There is a big difference between being filled and not. There is even a big difference between being filled and not being at the proper fill level! There is also a big difference in the healing stage.

Personally, I would just tell him. But that's just me I suppose. If you don't want to tell, that's fine, but I suppose you will have to tell at one point or another. It isn't like it's a secret that you're fat, so I don't see why it should be a secret that you are taking charge of your life. Of course, you can always tell him that you are recovering and your tummy is dellicate right now. I would NOT LIE. It will not turn out well.

Maybe she's talking about a Goose egg? If you are losing 1-2 pounds a week, getting about 1000-1200 (or as per doctor's orders) or are a bonafide Turtle, then you probably don't need a fill. We are all unique, and some people may be able to eat more and some are able to eat less. You are losing an average of 2.7 pounds a week, so you definately DO NOT need a fill at this point!
-
I gained weight between my surgery and my first fill. It isn't that uncommon either. Please don't be so hard on yourself. You haven't even begun to lose weight, since the band is not designed to work without a fill, right? In fact, without a fill it is as if you were never banded in the first place! Be kind to yourself.

Turtle Tribe Holiday NSV Challenge
vinesqueen replied to vinesqueen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Capt'n Jack, I saw that one coming... Excellent work with the CPAP. I'm going back on mine for a while. I haven't been feeling very well in the mornings, so back on the snorkle goes. That's a great NSV Kim! It is always nice to have someone finally notice! You've certianly waited long enough! Shine! -
Carbs are very difficult for me to get in, what with the "eat protien first, veggies second followed by carbs if there is room." Well, with this 4th fill, I'm not getting much in the way of carbs. The nutritionist I saw last week said 25 grams of fiber a day. (hello Benifiber!) That is the magic number needed to promote colon health. I'm trying to work in more carbs into my diet though, since that is the prefered food for the nervous system and brain.

Welcome Megan. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. Your insights into the gastric bypass are invaluable. I think we are lucky to have you and Wendy come here and be willing to share your realities with us, since they are so different from our own, being banded and all. I don't kow how long you've been lurking here, but just so you know, we are an international board, with several very active members from the UK, AZ as well as other points inbetween!

As of this morning, I am no longer Morbidly Obese, I am simply Obese!
-
I haven't and it stands to reason that PBs have the same likelihood of causeing tooth decay as eating, since you are right, there is no acid involved
