BLEH! I have sugery on November the 18th..and live on the 3rd floor
vinesqueen replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hmmm, a walk up 3 stories might be too much the day of your surgery. You might be able to do it since you do in everyday anyway. -
How long till I can ride recumbant bike?
vinesqueen replied to liannatx's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
two weeks out you should be fine riding the bike. I was horseback riding 3 weeks out. Just don't push yourself to hard yet -
Dearest Doll, you deserve the best that the Universe has to offer. You must have time away from your son. This isn't just for you, it is for him. After all, you cannot pour more from an empty pitcher. He must have time away to build his own identity as a person as opposed to being an entitiy of baby/mommy. You deserve this time and so does your son. My ex-husband thought that his only responsibility was to bring home a paycheck. Even when I was working and making more money than he did, he still thought his only responsibility was to bring home the baccon. You deserve a help-mate. You deserve better. I was very close to leaving my DH because of his weight, but he got banded and that really saved our marriage. You deserve the best the Universe has to offer!

But Kathy, being Obsese IS a an NSV!
-
Hate to break this to you, but we are already two hot chicks. Sorry to just sort of spring that on you... Hotness is a state of mind. Those are wonderful NSVs! And you are right, too big does look sloppy, something that I hadn't even considered until yesterday. Apple, NSV stands for Non-scale Victory. These are thing that have nothing to do with the scale, but they remind us that we are successful no matter what the damn scale says.
-
We understand your frustration Apple. But at least that 12# loss is not a 12 pound gain, right? That's what keeps me going with my 5 ounce a week loss. Welcome to the Turtle Tribe Apple!

Hello Amos, welcome to the Banded Gentry. We can eat everything we ate before, usually. Fats and sugars slide down all too easily, and this is how some bandsters eat around their band. And yes, we require fats so we can metabolize vitamines A,E, K, and some others that I forget. Of course you are hungry every two-three hours, that is normal human behaviour! Especially when you consider that you are not eating solid protiens. Wait, you are already on soft foods? Most bandster post-op diets have us on a liquid diet for two weeks, not two days! (some bandsters have to do Clear liquids, others of us would have anything that would fit through a straw) Please verify with your doc that you should be eating soft foods so soon. You don't want to damage your band or stomach

It's time to bump my NSV thread. These are the ones I've added since the last time I bumped it. 10/22/05 I had a fitness assessment done yesterday. While my aerobic fitness score wasn't very high, 22 out of a scale of 20-50 (needs work), my over all fitness level fell into the Fair range, and my blood pressure is in the Fit range. (mind you, I've always had good BP, except for the first few weeks I'm back in SE ID due to the altitude and heat change) 10/27/05 I am offically no longer Morbidly Obese, but simply Obese. Today my BMI is 39.6, so I might not even qualify for the surgery, if not for my co-morbidities, which are all under control. My second NSV for the day is that I have been invited to dance professionally at a Greek restaurant here in town. It will be fun to be able to put on my resume that I'm a Professional Belly Dancer. 11/5/05 All my pants are starting to look like giant clown pants, none of them fit in the butt or thighs anymore. If I didn't have this damn thick waist, I would really be in honest size 18 jeans. My black leather jacket is going to have to be retired soon. It's rediculously large on me now. The sleves alone now hang past my finger-tips and it looks like I could smuggle a medium sized ham in each shoulder. So I tried on my big winter coat, and now it really is my huge winter coat. It's about XX too big. It's fully reversable a suede stadium jacket, with lepord fake fur on the other side. I love this jacket, but next year, some other lucky bandster gets to love it.

Agreed! Oh, and considering I'm always late to my morning classes (just by a squeek) I wouldn't call it strolling, more like a forced march. Well dang on the pilaties, but practically my entire dance class is dancing, with very little time spent on demos. Any demos we have she, does the move once then we repeat it, and at this point, not a whole lot of new moves are being introduced. It really is non-stop for at least the first 30 minutes while we do our drills. Between our shimmies, drops, lifts, undulations, mayas, camels and geiraphs, and all our isolations.. Well, no talking there. This is a serious, kick-your-ass dance class for dance majors/minors... So, is it alright if I claim 1/2 an hour for the hour of dance? Sorry you had such a crazy day, that's been my week lately, what with major projects due... Oh, and I definately need a fill. I suddenly lost all restriction... again. So this week, my calories have been sky-high in the 1500 calorie range Yeah, I know, normal woman range, not calorie-obsessed-weightloss-driven-demented-woman range. I think this week I managed to get in all my servings of grains! And you bet I'll buy you that drink (or 3) next year at the Bash. (but not 4) I have to believe that alcohol poisoning would be bad-bad-bad for the Banded Brigands...

/e taps foot. Yeah, when are you going to post your PS pix??? I have a feeling that whether or not you lose those extra stupid 10 pounds you already look awesome!

Welcome to the Banded Gentry!

I'm not sure when this was aired, but it is a short video segment about dealing with weight discrimination. Probably preaching to the choir though. I would be very, very interesting to hear about anyone's experience with weight related discrimination ... http://video.msn.com/v/us/v.htm?g=6075af15-f102-4509-98f5-1dba1077c236&t=c86&f=06/64&p=Source_Today%20Show

I pulled it off of MSN videos; go to msn.com and go to the video section

Okay Kare <3 Bear, is the challenge that I will lose more than my pokey half pound loss, or that I will feel better? Cause I know I will feel better, that isn't even an issue. Your challenge, you get to pick the start date. And does arerobic activites, such as bowling count? Also, I need a 5th fill.

what's wrong with me?????????????
vinesqueen replied to sandj21598@yaho's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Getting hungry every 3 hours is pretty NORMAL especially if you are working out as much as you say. I know that on the two days I officially work-out hard I eat more than 1000 calories, I'll usually go up to 1200 or so. WOOT! This means that you are putting on muscle mass! That is EXCELLENT work on your part! Go to your fitness/wellness center, if your school has one, and ask for a fitness assesment. This will be really helpful for you on several levels! -
Well Kare <3 Bear, I think I will accept that challenge. because it won't be that much of an increase for me. I am already working really hard 2 days a week, with 20-30 minutes of pilaties or yoga, then belly dancing for 40-60 minutes, then walking 15 minutes or so back to my apartment. This doesn't include all the other walking during the day with my 20 pound backpack, or taking into account all the flights of stairs I walk during the day. To meet your challenge, I will only have to add two-30 minute walks and an hour somewhere else.

A dream thread. They often say a lot (or nothing at all)
vinesqueen replied to Nykee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I periodically do serious dream analysis--to the point where I analyze my dream while I'm dreaming it to save time later. Once I dreamed I was at a party drinking Jose Cuevervo. I woke up because I was so drunk I had the spins. I was good and drunk, I mean, had to hold on to the wall to walk down to the bathroom. MInd you, I hadn't had anything to drink for about 6 months before this dream. I've also had dreams where something struck me so funny I laughed myself awake. -
Well, Wednesday night I spent more 6 hours working on one accounting project. I walk all I can, but with 21 credits, plus a 1/2 time job... It's all I can do to get to my belly dance class. You would think that with as much walking as I do, plus being at around 1000 calories I would lose weight, but no. I know some rabbits don't do any extra working out, and the weight just falls off them. I had my 4th fill last week, but I didn't lose anything over the week. Why am I surprised? I'm not even disapointed, just resigned. Kind of hard to be disapointed when you get what you expect.

Okay, I just checked and there are two ways to get in your word count, the honor system and the offical word count checker. The instrctions are under the profile area. So, I'm there as "Vinesqueen" no big surprise there. Feel free to add me to your writing buddy list
-
Well, this is my first time doing this, so I"m not sure. I think we just enter the number of words for the day. Word has a word counter built in as part of the program...
