Well, I have kept my calories under 1200 calories, that's for sure. And I have been aerobically active at least 5 days a week every week. I am on the verge of tears, but at 700 calories for almost 2 weeks, I've lost 1 whole pound. So I'm still averaging 4 onces a week. But I'll weigh myself this weekend, I'm going to break down and actuallty buy a scale. To date, for this challenge, I've currently lost 1 pound for the entire 4 weeks. http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=11271&page=2&highlight=bash Of course, it's always possible that I'll suddenly drop 10 pounds and 5 inches this week, and that way I'll win the big one, and have a real shot at Nana~'s cloak! (Yeah, I know, always the positive one, makes you kind of sick with all my optimism....)

Okay, I shoveled snow for 30 minutes yesterday, along with my hour walkies and 30 minutes of dance. Oh and I've returned to my old, bad habbits: I'm counting calories like a fiend. All this week, I've hovered around 700 calories. New fill...

Now presenting the newest offical member of bandland Ladysplenda
vinesqueen replied to ladysplenda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Welcome to the Banded Gentry. Sad for that man's family -
Yup, I've had similar dreams. I know when I'm dreaming though, so I just enjoy dreaming that I'm eating something from my former life.

I dunno. The way my surgeon explained it was that some folks with the RNY, even if they are being the best RNY patients that they possibly can, still have problmes like things stretching, through no fault of their own. I think it is entirely possible that there are members of the Turtle Tribe who've had some other WLS, like the RNY. It would make perfect sense, given our stories here on LBT. It may be that RNY Turtles need the band too because they haven't lost their weight within their weight loss window.

How Many Ice Cream Scoops have you lost?
vinesqueen replied to Bandster Brad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
First off, Ice cream is not evil. Ice cream = love. for me any way. It has Calcium, and it's an even better way get it than cheese. (oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm saying that!) It has fat that makes us feel better eating it. Also, we need fat to matabolize vitamines A, E, and K. Because it is simple carbs, our brains love it because that is what our brains like to use as food, carbs. "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!" Celery doesn't have a similar song. Neither do Brussle Sprouts. Liver does even have a football cheer. -
How Many Ice Cream Scoops have you lost?
vinesqueen replied to Bandster Brad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Brad, but I currently weigh 2.5 bags of Portland Cement. If I lost that much weight I'd be a 6 month old baby. I've currently lost 343 scoops of ice cream. -
Well, as a matter of fact, it WAS made just for her!

what exactly do you expect that you should be able to eat? I know that we frequently have our point of view screwed up. We've all read the messages from folks who are freaking out because they can eat an entire 1/4 of food at a time. You are still losing weight, 4.5 pounds a week is dead average. The band is not about being restricted, it isn't surgically induced bulima. The band is about losing weight, which you are doing a great job. If you feel like you are eating too much, then STOP EATTING TOO MUCH. There is a lot of head work that goes into the band. Good luck, and you are doing great!

Oh, turkey is near impossible for me, I cooked some in the crock pot with mole sauce and thought I was gonna die. For some reason chicken and turkey are very difficult for me. I can do rice, I can to soft tortillas but the birds are phew... rough on me! Sorry it was so crappy

Honey Jane! I can't tell you you won't gain it back, but look at your past history! (I lost weight while I was preggers too) Chances are that you won't gain that much. But keep this in mind, Women are supposed to gain weight while we are pregnant! Maybe not 70 pound, but we are supposed to gain! You've been banded a good long time, you aren't a newbe, some rookie. You are a veteran, and you know the rules and you have been wildly successful! Also, keep in mind that even if you do gain more weight than you want to while pregnant, you have the tool ready and waiting for you when you are ready! Please don't stress about your weight while you are pregnant! I'm so excited for you!

Oh, man! Me, I would have said, yes, you will remove the charge, and then be just as loud as the manager. But then, I don't back down easily as a general rule, espcially if I'm right. I had an experinece at a big italian chain restaurant that does Soups and salad, you know the one. I went in with my crew on a weekend and ordered off the menu they handed us. There were a bunch of us, 8 or 10, big group for lunch. Maybe more. We could not get the wait staff to help us, and they were pretty dead, except for us. Well, we got the bill, and the meal was more expensive than what the menu said, plus we were charged a large group tip. I raised holy hell with the management. I didn't care that the weekend rates were higher, because we were not given the weekend menu. And we certianly didn't pay the large group tip because the service sucked. I mean, when you have to go hunt down the wait staff not once but several times in a meal...

Or around 800 calories? If you are at around 800 calories (or lower), what is your energy level? How do you feel? Since getting my 5th fill I am very restricted. I dunno if this is the sweet spot or not. The last few days, away from organic egg nog, pumpkin pie, I've been at just around 700 calories. I wasn't loosing anything, not at 1200 calories, not at 1000 calories. Well, at about 700 calories for a week, I've gone from 242 to 237 (5 pounds was water) so I really only lost one pound since getting this latest fill. My trouble is that yesterday and today I am just dragging butt. I slept for about 11 hours lastnight, and I sure could take a nap right now. So obviously, I know I need more calories, that's not my question.

I did that at the clinic. The fill nurse had fixated on the fact that I won't drink non-fat and that I ate potatoes once. I did start crying and saying how I wasn't feeling heard. I got very, very angry in the office, so any I couldn't speak.

PMS & Hersey's KISSES!Support pls!!!!
vinesqueen replied to sunsett's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
wait, you've had maybe 700 calories today, including all your little bites, and you are stressing???? typically people are doing extremely well on 1200 calories a day, so that gives you plenty of wiggle room for dinner. next time, get dark chocolate. Many people find that dark chocoalte is more satifying than milk chocoalte. Okay, let's get some perspective on this, shall we? YOU ATE SIX not SIXTY. Six is what skinny people eat. -
How long should we keep our bands in us?
vinesqueen replied to cindyh's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nope, permanent is permanent. So many of are where we are because we simply don't "feel" full because of our physiologies. -
french press Mid-African Beans, typically Kenyan or Ethiopian Sidamo. Harrar is good, although I can't stand Tanzina Peaberry, I know, I'm weird. 1/2 & 1/2 with dark muscovado sugar. I know, I know, I grind two days worth of beans at a time, shame on me. I gave it up for over a month and switched to tea with splenda and milk. It didn't make a bit of differnce in my weight, so I'm back to my beloved coffee. No artficical sweetener, no protien poweder, no artifical creamer, no benifiber in my coffee. (heh, I'm horrified when people say they put this in their coffee....)

No, it's in the middle of Dec, when I go home after finals. I am going to insist on answers. If they don't know, then I'm going to insist on the thyroid medications. My niece was on them for a while (dont know why she stopped) and her weight just fell right off without her changing anything. I think many of our Rabbit friends have been just as heavy for just as long as us Turtles. Last night I was so angry at Jammin Jamie, she's lost 80 pounds, and we were banded the same week. She and I had similar starting BMI, and I was just so mad at her. I was really whiny about it too. Stomped most of the extra long way I take home from my math class. (It takes me 10 minutes to walk there, but 35 minutes to walk back since I'm not going to be late for anything but TV shows.) I know it's stupid to be mad at her, it isn't her fault that I'm such a turtle. But she's not sure she'll be able to meet her goal of losing 115 pounds by our bandiversary, and I'm not sure I'll make 30 pounds by then. I'm angry about the whole unfairness, which in itself isn't fair, becaue she's one of the sweetest people on this board. and it certianly isn't her fault that I can't lose weight.

SuperDaddy Sang for 8,500 people!!!
vinesqueen replied to SuperDaddy!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow! Gee, I spoke in front of a crowd of 20 in my Marketing class and didn't pass out. I can't imagine being in front of a crowd like that! Those pix are amazing! You are amazing! -
I've been using Benifiber too. I don't get in much fiber, since I cut out most carbs, even the complex ones months ago. I haven't tried my beloved broccolli with this new fill, I'm chicken My grandmother died from a bowel obstruction, and my aunt (her daughter) had to be air lifted from a cruise in Alaska because of one. She almost died, and neither one had a band.

Wow Kathy! That's great work! Congrats on dropping the poundage! I called and made an appointment with my PCP. It's hard to get in to see her because I live in a different state. I spoke with her assistant and I briefly explained the situation. At which point she said "Well that doesn't sound right." Ya think? I don't know if diet pills are the answer, but I've been dragging my butt the last several days, so I don't think 700 caloires is the answer either. Heh, I'm tired of not having any answers.

Okay, got in my walkies, and does almost getting hit by a car count for aerobic activity? My heart is still racing. The jerk didn't even stop. If there had been cars on the road he would have taken them out. I started crossing the road when he was a full block away (speed limit is 25 mph) He finally saw me, almost two late--- he ended up sliding through the intersection SIDEWAYS. I couldn't run because of the ice on the road. Yesterday I was almost hit in broad daylight Have I mentioned how much I hate this place???
