Most of the other members of the Turtle Tribe have their NSV list here in the support forum. Just create a new thread, and start listing your NSVs! Yay

    Bellydancing NSVs

Well, tonight I make my semi-professional debute again! We had our dance department dance review Wednesday night, and pix will be forthcoming. We were great, several people told us that we were the best group on stage, so that was awesome! I went out on stage, in front of an audience of maybe 300 or 400 people, and I OWNED the stage. I wasn't the slightest bit nervous, and I'm quite amazed at that, believe you me! I made eye contact with many of the audience, and I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time. Not only did I look like I was having a great time, I WAS having a great time! The next NSV is my costume... my top was a crop tant top that I've added bead work too to make it sparkle. But the important part of that sentence is CROP TOP! Yes, that's right, I was wearing a belly shirt on stage, exposing my ample belly to the public, with my surgery scars clearly visible! And I did it on purpose! Okay, this next one isn't an NSV, not really, and it properly goes on the "Skniny Bitches" thread, but here it is We had just come off stage after doing our two numbers and we were all still amped up on adrenalline. We were talking about how we had done, bla bla bla. A group of ballet dancers were there, I mean, right there and one of the skinny blond said to another skinny blond the snottiest comment I've heard in a long time. Okay, all the ballet dancers were skinny blonds, but that's besides the point. She said, in a loud voice "well, at least we weren't shaking our Bon-Bons." In the snottiest possible voice mind you. So, I simply said, with sugar in my voice, "well that's because you can't shake your Bon-Bon." And then I smiled so sweetly at her. (then she said that I was probably right, and the group of them walked away) So, I suppose that makes me a fat bitch, but I just decided that I wasn't in the mood to take crap from anyone. So, the next part of the Bellydancing NSV is that I'll be dancing againg tonight at a local restaurant, and yes, I'll be dancing for tips, so Big Paul, you'd better leave now so you get here in time, and yes, you'll probably need to take out a second mortgage So, finally, I'm doing this when I weigh 240 pound and not waiting until I get closer to goal. I'm doing this at size 22/24 and not when I get to my goal of 12/14

Penni, could you pretty please resize the pix, and do that montage thing?
  5. As always, you are so right Donali. I am letting the scale dictate my success. But I am an increadably vain and shallow woman. One of the reasons I had weight loss surgery was to actually lose weight, and right now I cannot seem to get beyond that. What I meant to say was that it is not helping me lose weight, not anything else. I realize that I probably would be dead or at the very least on full time oxygen therapy without the band. I know these thing are true. I do, but as I said, I am so vain and shallow. My high weight was 275 in January, I was banded at 265 in March. The first two weeks I was banded I lost 15 amazing pounds, but in the last 20 weeks I have kept off a total of 12 pounds. I've lost 27 pounds since I was banded, but the first 15 pounds were mostly Water. I have lost an average of 10 ounces a week for the last 41 weeks, but for the last 38 weeks I've lost 6 ounces. I'm eating 700 calories a day, and I weigh what I did at the end of October. It is hard beyond words to watch people who started with the same wight as I did to have lost 90 pounds to my 27. To watch people who have lost 4 sizes to my one size. The band is not going to help me lose weight, that much seems clear to me. Oh, and the last time I did this: Patient: "Doc, it hurts when I press here." They scheduled me for emergency surgery
  6. Yay! Yay! Christina is back! Someone allert Jenna so she can do her famous booty shaking dance! Okay, Christina, tell us all about your adventures! Yay! Yay! Christina is back!

Okay, let's put that into some perspecitve. You ate one hot fudge sundae, not a carton of ice cream. Before banding would you have been satisfied with one sundae or would you have been compeled to have the more, more, MORE????
  8. I have lost 12 pounds since March. 12 pounds. A little better than one pound a month. I think it is time for me to accept the truth of the matter. I am just one of the few unlucky ones that the band will not help. I don't think any WLS will for for me, since I'm not losing on 700 calories, I highly doubt a malapsortion technique will do any better, so converting to some other technique isn't going to work for me. Not that I would consider any other technique anyway. I still feel like a fraud.

Okay, I'm not permitted to check whether people qualify or not. March 29, a week after my banding, I weighed 250, and today I weigh 238. That's 12 pounds. I've worked my ass of for 12 pounds. What is the point?
  11. vinesqueen

    considering insanity

Well, 700 calories isn't working. You know, I probably wouldn't be so stressed about this if I wasn't trying to hard. But I read so many stories of how people just have their weight fall off. I've lost 12 pounds since March. I keep telling myself that I just have to hang in for one more week before I go see my doctor. Right now that is the only thing that is keeping me going.

Is It Possible To Start Over?

Of course you can always start over. That is one of the beauties of the band. If you need to take a break for whatever reason, the band will still be there, waiting patiently.

    Help!!

Okay, you were on liquids, so you colon held nothing. Liquid in, liquid out. Now you've moved to soft foods, but foods nonetheless. And you colon is easily capable of holding more than 4 pounds of food. Also, this time is not for losing weight, but for healing.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

Okay, Carrie has been a Turtle since October, and this is not a new application. She pulled a Rabbit on us, (YAY CARRIE!) but this doesn't mean that her membership will or can be revoked. As for lovescats, I think we need to have a break down of her weight, I know that when I was at her stage I wouldn't have qualified as a turtle either. Part of me thinks that the loss of the first few weeks should be disreguarded in respect for membership into the Turtle Tribe. I lost most of my inital weight right after my surgery, and it was all Water. I suspect that lovecats will indeed qualify for Turtle status. Sorry about that. I lost more in my first 10 weeks than she has.

    Question?

Funny, no one ever things that when I take my shirt off. Of course, I only take my shirt off in front of my husband. ...

TOPS the Pig Pen and More...

Well, gluttony is one of the 7 deadly sins. So some people feel justified in treating the overweight worse than you would treat a dog.

    Bye Everyone!

Well, when you read this, welcome to the banded gentry!
  19. vinesqueen

    will it work for me?

Well, there is working and there is working. There are all sorts of different ways to measure success. I haven't lost much according to the scale, but I figure I'm a success.
  20. vinesqueen

Does the band work? YOU ANSWER!

Yup, there is a huge difference! Now you have to post some "Nows" on this thread. Maybe we can get one of the picture wizards to do their magic... I haven't lost much, and I struggle with that. But because of my band, I don't feel like I"m going to die. I mean that most sincerly.

Yeah, I think we are long lost sisters too! Okay, now you've seen the photos, now it's your turn! I just got the material to make my next outfit. I have to figure out what I can do for another top, but with different trip, I think the current top will work for both outfits. Of course, it would sure be nice to lose 50 pounds so that I well, could lose 50 pounds

Okay, you've just said something very important. I figure many of our celibrated Rabbit friends see their ultimate goal as something they can achieve in a year, 18 month tops. You know, the ones that want to lose about 100 pounds in a year, and who realistically will lose that amount. I doubt that they are as daunted as we are, those who might lose 35 pounds in a year. At the rate I'm going, I don't even want to calculate how many years it will take me to reach goal. I think this is why mini-goals are so important for us. I know that we've talk about mini goals before, but it seemed like an excellent time to bring up the subject again. To focus on the next size, how ever many weeks that will take us to reach that. Thanks for the reminder Carrie. Oh, and you are too funny, btw
