Had Consult To Be Banded In Saudi

Why don't you think it will work? I'm facinated to understand why. I would go for helping establish the clinic. For one thing it would really be good on the old resume. One of the things to keep in mind is that while a group mght not work, the work you would do with one-on-one would be so important, not only for the people you help, but for you.

Hi Sho, how long have you been banded? You've already lost an amazing 50 pounds.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

Hi Analoren, I'm sorry to hear that you are losing so slowly. I would definately add excersizing to your day, not only because it should help with the weight loss, but it will help you feel better. As for being back to the bad food, every day is a new day, so every day is a chance to start new. You already know what is your weakness, so for a week, avoid that food. Then the next week, avoid it again. You can do anything for a week, right? Well just string those weeks together!
  4. Actually, if you use a good whole wheat or multi-grain bread I would think that the Fiber gained would off-set your bad feelings towards the carbs. MMMM fiber. And I personally believe that the egg and the bread, while a filler, helps define the meatloaf or meatballs.

Anyone else NOT an "emotional eater"?

chuckle, chuckle, chuckle! Oh the band will sure control your portion size!

Why to people get so angry about WLS?

I think part of it has to do with being fat is a sin. Glutton is one of the 7 deadly sins. Because we are fat, we are undeserving of pitty, of respect, of any understanding. Only by the sweat of our brow, only through hard work shall we be redeamed from our sin. People might feel that because we are having WLS we are taking the easy way out, that we are are short-cutting the system.

Anyone else NOT an "emotional eater"?

Hey there, welcome to the club! Under one suprevised program I went through I had to meet with a shrink to talk about my food issues. He was completely baffled because I didn't have an eating disorder. But I do think that everyone is an emotional eater on some level. I think the line runs from folks like the one's that have posted where we really don't much to the opposite end of the spectrum where they wind changes affects their eating. Since I've joined LBT I've gained such an insite on eating disorderes. I still dont' understand them, (and apperently can't spell them either.) When I'm feeling strong emotions I lose my appitite. But then, I've never been a binger, I hate the feeling that most people have after Thanksgiving or Christmas... that over stuffed feeling where you feel like your skin is too tight. Hate, hate, hate. Hmmm strong emotions. I guess the problem is that so many are emotional eaters, so many are bingers, so many have eating disorders. I'm a foodie I guess. I love good food, I love feeding people good food. And I've always had a big appitite, but I have a big appitite for life, I wonder if they are related. If I was a normal bandster, the band would work perfectly for me, and I guess, in some respects it does. I'm not hungry all the time now, and I've been freed from thinking about food.

Just a side note, some bandsters can't handle ground meat. My DH can't eat any sort of ground meat, unless it is like taco meat.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

That exactly how I feel! On the one hand I really am giddy! I just IM'd my DH saying exactly what you said! Oh how funny! I'm so excited that they are finally gonig to be able to tell me what's wrong, and how to fix it. I'm excited that I'm finally going to be able to start losing weight, and I'm not even daring to dream of being a rabbit! But on the other hand, I'm terrified that they are going to tell me that there isn't anything wrong with me, that I'm doing it wrong, that if only I would try harder or work harder or be more deserving, I'll lose weight.

    Low fat chili recipe anyone?

Pork is the only way for my chili. I have trouble with beef and chicken way more often than I do with pork. Besides, in this recipe it's much more tasty. lean pork, cut into chuncks or cubes (shreds easier) onion garlic chili poweder of your favorite type. I'm currently in love with chipotle cumin (very important for the flavor) oregino canned tomatoes (any type you like. I like a whole tomatoe, but that's because I like large pieces of toms). You can also use a jar of salsa instead. italian crimini mushrooms (aka baby portabellos) can of back Beans Throw everything into the crock pot, except for things you don't like (or can't tolorate, like the mushrooms). Set to the lowest setting. go for a walk, or play video games... or what ever floats your boat, including floating your boats.

What Do You Do to Feel Sexy????

    Fill loss at every fill?

It also could be a tech that doesn't do a fill correctly. This was my problem this fall, he was letting out more than he was putting in.

    considering insanity

I just had my 3rd fill this week, so I'm at about 2.5cc. Since my fill, I've dropped my calories from 1200 to about 1000. If this doesn't work, if I don't lose any weight, I'll get another fill so I"m eating about 800 calories. Jessie said that I'll need to go down to 800 calories or even 600 calories to lose weight. Is it possible to be restricted to the point where 600 calories is enough? Restricted but not too restricted?

    When did you hit it?

I still have no idea what the "sweet spot" is. I'm not losing, but I'm special ... I would like to be just a smidgen tighter, like maybe .1cc, but it could be because my sense of proportions is probably out of whack. I can almost eat a "normal" portion of food, so I freak out and think I'm eating WAY too much. I might be at a sweet spot now, because I am very satisfied with the amount of food I'm eating, and I know it is much less than what a "normal" person eats, that is, I eat around 1200 calories, and I'm satified with it.

How Many Calories do YOU eat?

Hey Brad! Yeah, you sort of missed it there with the assumption that everyone was actually losing weight. I know, I know, easy assumption to make. I've lost 15 pounds net since April, not 40-ish, like I would if I was able to lose the expected 1 pounds a week. That doesn't even go into looking at 1-2 pounds a week. The mere thought of calculating what that loss would look like makes me tear up. I've gained and lost the same 5 pounds for months on end, and ended up gaining 10 pounds in the 3 weeks after I had some of my fill removed so I could go back to 1000-1200 a day. I've been obsessive about counting my calories, to the point of trying to figure out how many calories were in toothpaste. I spent a month at +/-700 calories, but all that did for me was make me weak. This month I'm concentrating on NOT counting calories. It's difficult, but I'm working it.

Want to Drink while you eat?

Just be very careful, since drinking while eating is one tried and true way to "eat around the band."

    Vegemite?

Kathy, I think it is Men at Work. I've never tried Vegimite, but I love Marmite. Spread thinly on a slice of toast, kissed with butter. But toast these days is pretty much a non-starter.
  21. Nykee, you can vent any time you like! The first thing that occured to me is that it might be your pain meds too, it could very well be that the dosage was good for you before you lost so much weight. (oh and WELL DONE on the weight! You've lost a good sized kid!) Do not take "No" for an answer Nykee! If it isn't your pain meds, then it is something else, and you make them find out what's wrong. I'm in your corner!

I dare U 2 beat my NSV... I rode the bull!!!

Well, once I lose 70 pounds, we'll talk about riding toppless... (or when I've lost as much as you did when you'd ridden topless. But no, I'll never sell sex toys for a living. Too much shame from my mother. But in March, I go back to my horse back riding lessons... But it won't be topless. Oh dear gawd, I'd rip a boob off just from the force of bouncing in a trot. Oh dear gawd.
  23. Nykee, honey, please make an appointment with your doctor FIRST THING tomorrow morning. This could be serious! (((((hugs)))))

Had Consult To Be Banded In Saudi

Excellent Kabeerah! It sounds like you've done your work, and I think that's a big part of it. And yes, I'm soooo glad you will be able to get good after care, that's the biggest thing I worry about when people travel to get their band, whether they will be able to get good after care. So many times I've seen folks get their band somewhere else but forget, or don't know, to find a local support doc. Maybe you will be able to head up a local in-person support group for other folks in your area? Any way, I would have replied earlier, but I was out of town for a while, and this fell off my radar, as it were. Congrats on you decision! I know as hard as this has been for me, it's been one of the best decisions of my life.
