Yup, you probably need another fill. Don't be so hard on yourself. You are the only you you have. I think that as bandsters our sense of proportions get totally out of whack. Since I've been diagnosed with Cushing's I've successfully manageed to stop counting caloiries. I'm no longer obsessed with every single bite that goes into my mouth, since I'm not going to lose any weight anyway. But I was rushed the other night, and I had a frozen dinner. I checked the calories after I ate it and nearly had kittens. there were 400 calories in that dinner. Freaked me out in a big way. 400 calories! Yikes! I was so upset with myself. I couldn't believe I was eating that much food. So, I had a little heart-to-heart with myself. You see, 400 calories is totally apprporate and reasonable for dinner, lunch and Breakfast. 400 calories 3 times a day is 1200 calories, not a million.

why do you feel guilty? Because you cut loose and were a "bad" gurl for an evening? I think cutting lose every now and again is really good for one, provided it is every once and then. You've been so stressed, and for one night you cut loose. I say good for you. Useless guilt is pointless. You didn't hurt a small animal or child, you didn't hurt anyone, you didn't commit any crimes... What's the point of being good all the time if you can never cut yourself some slack?

Okay, first off, you are NOT a failure. You are still a baby bandster, how can you be a failure? This takes a while to get the hang of, I don't know of anyone who learned to ride their bike without falling off of it. Like any skill, it takes practice.

Throwing Up All The Time, Making Me Tired At Work
vinesqueen replied to jen122277's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jen and Collegeteacher? I hope you both have had a chance to go get an unfill. Not only is being over-filled dangerous, it is just plain miserable. I'm so sorry you both thought you should be that tight for the band to work. The band is not surgically induced bulima. -
Hi Laura, nice to see you again! 43 pound in 10 months insn't anything to sneeze at. I still brush at 30 pounds loss since March. How are your other measurements coming? How many sizes have you lost? Hello Dawndreamer, I don't quite know what to say, other than I think some people really benifit from a regimented program, so it might be that the combination of the program and the band are working well for you. I understand about not being able to excersize and I know it's hard watching folks who all they have to do is get banded lose weight. Hi Holly, yeah, I think you qualify as a member of the Turtle tribe. So, your first assignment, your initiation if you will, is to start your very own list to Track your NSVs, your non-scale victories.

how can i stop eating at night!!!!!???
vinesqueen replied to aligirrl77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
find a hobby that really involves both your brain and your hands. It's hard to eat if you are doing things with these. It might be that you need to paint the hallway or regrout the tile, or start an art project that is messy, or has the possibility of being messy. You have to replace one hobby with another, one habbit with another. -
MI doc says 25% do not loose wgt
vinesqueen replied to imalene's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
If you are living on a good amount of food by lapbandster standards, if you are living on 1000-1200 or even a bit higher, depending on your activity level, then you might have developed a metabolic issue. Please, please, please, before you consider any of the bypass options talk to other doctors. Talk to nutritionists, get a referal to an Endocrinologist. Your surgeon's tool is surgery, that's how he or she will look at all problems. If all you have is a hammer, all your solutions look like nails. But hammers don't work well with fine china or glass. -
Thanks Kare Bear! And the best part? It's all true!

Hey Velvet (((hugs)))) I'm so sorry you feel like you are in such a bind. I've been thinking about you since you've posted this, trying to figure out some words that would help. Zoe and Vlucky have given some very good advice. It is so hard when you have such a dysfunctional family. I think that you should talk to her about the band, direct here here as well. I was on nutrisystem, but I gained it all back. Of course. For them to give you an untimatum like that is so very harsh, and so painful. I wish I had some better words for you. I wish I has something soothing to help you.

I will probably be counted among that statistic whom the band simply will not work. It isn't because I eat around the band. It isn't because I don't excersize. It isn't becaue of anything within my control. I have a metabolic disorder. There's a chance that I wouldn't lose if I switched to a malabsorbive technique, but I personally would rather weight 235 pound than have a malabsortive technique. I lost 1.5 pounds at a month of 700 calories, and felt terrible. So. I'll just have to figure out what type of Cushings I have and get treatment for that. I wonder, looking at my Turtle Tribe, how many of us have a metabolic disorder. -
Yup, the icing really made a huge difference for me, it was even better than the numbing cream. Honestly. And I'm a big baby when it comes to anticipaed or real pain. I've had 5 or 6 treatments, and I can honestly say this has been permanent for me so far. I might need more treatments in a year, but it was about 9 months between the last two treatments.

Very nice Terri! My nextdoor neighbor has one, and she really likes hers. I agree, flames! Oh, and my DH wears chaps when he rides, but well, oh dear. (aren't chaps by definition "butt-less"???)

There is no other Strong Bad, but you are right, it is rather random... but I'm pretty random so it is very fitting.

Not odd to miss the sensation of eating at all. When I needed to chew something I went for gum, other people have taken bites of food and chewed it and chewed it and then spit it out. For them it was almost required to keep their sanity. I chewed up a lot of pencils, and I'm not normally a pencil chewer. And yup, I was a wreck before my surgery. I thought I was going to wear a hole in the carpet from my pacing. You'll be fine, but don't worry about. (yeah, I know, easier said than done.)

Welcome to the Banded Gentry everyone!

ok, since you were picking up dinner for a group, you were spending more than a few bucks. If you go there frequenly, that means you are a valuable customer for that restaurant. Call the manager, tell him that the barman was very rude and insulting, and that your group will no longer be eating there. Be sure to tell him that you spend $X every time you go, and that the barman is directly responsible for that loss of business.

Hi kajen, I think the first place to start with is your regular doctor. He or she can help you. I just think we need to be more asertive and proactive. WE need to insist on answers and not be put off with a meek "I'll try to do better." I think htat if you don't have time to eat, a protien shake is a good idea.

Life without huge bowls of rice a roni?
vinesqueen replied to mini_me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
stop the madness! Just stop it. food is not your friend, but it isn't your enemy either. You most likely will not be able to eat rice-aroni again. Many Bandsters find rice very difficult. Waa, boo-hoo. What you will get in exchange for giving up rice-aroni will amaze you. You will be able to walk up several flights of stairs at a time. You will be able to cross your legs, you will change the way you look at life and the way you live. Food will not be the center of your life anymore. So, buck-up little camper! It doesn't matter if you never eat rice-aroni again. -
but not the entire box of cinnabons. What did you eat an hour to 30 minutes ago? This is exactly how I feel after I eat corn syrup or other corn product without planning. It might not be emotions, it might be a physical reaction.

WORRIED: The only one who has not lost ANY weight?
vinesqueen replied to LilAngel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hug time, and a little turtle butt kicking too. If you are not losing at 800-1200 calories, what makes you think you will lose weight eating less? I mean, we have a base amount where we cannot really safely go below. I spent a month too tightly filled and I lost 1.5 pounds total that month. So, not only did I NOT lose weight in any meaningful amount or way, I also felt miserable the entire time. I don't know that turtles have the same "sweet spot" that Normies or Rabbits have. I feel like I'm at a sweet spot, because it feels ... right. But not because I'm losing weight. I cannot believe that it is normal to not lose weight after 4 months of a very reduced diet. It's time to start demanding other answers. It's time to get assertive with your doctors. They can't blame this on your weight, because, well, it is your weight. -
Want to see how long you'll live? Take the Life-Expectancy Quiz!
vinesqueen replied to Tricia K.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh! that is too funny! No philandering in my family, none to speak of anyway. But when my Grandma was about 82, my uncle couldn't find her anywhere, so he drove out to Aunt Lilly's place and there he found her all right. My Grandma and Aunt Lilly (she was about 90) were busily re-roofing Aunt Lilly's house, by themselves. -
Oh man! Jonathan I sure hope the very best for you!

Want to see how long you'll live? Take the Life-Expectancy Quiz!
vinesqueen replied to Tricia K.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
well, if it wasn't for that last question, I'd be imortal. That -2 for each occurance of depression, obesity, and diabetis, well, knocked 20 points right off. So, put me down for 99. Which, given my family history, isn't that far fetched. My grandmother is 94, my grandfather died when he was 96, and several of his brothers and sisters lived longer than that. I need a new dog -
