    anyone lose over 200 pounds?

Hi Yoda, we have a glossary for all our special words and abrivations http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=7959 And yes, for me, it is Dear Husband, most of the time anyway.... Right now he's taking a break from the band, trying to get used to the idea that he isn't 600 pounds, and is currently smaller than he's been for more than 15 years.

    Excersize thread-- bellydancing

usually what I wear are a pair of harem style pants, that are silver foil with snake skin print, a velvet short tank-top that I've added some light bead work, and various veils and a hip scarf. I have two right now that I L-O-V-E. They are both burgundy cloth, but one is siver based with beaded strings that end in small silver "coins" that tinkle very sweetly, bead word and small mirrors. The other scarf is burgundy and gold with bells, so it's just as flashy, but jingles as opposed to tinkles. Other women wear differnt things. Some prefer skirts to pants, some perfer a dance bra and belt. (I can't wear a dance belt right now because my belly is too big. Some like to wear a choli top that covers their arms to the elbow, especially if they are not comfortable with their arms showing. Some women perfer to be very covered while others would rather see what their bellys are doing, especially when we work on isolations so we can see the belly flutter or roll. This pix was taken after my dance recital for ISU. What I'm wearing is typically what I wear for performances as well as practices. If you don't practice in what you are going to perform in, then you won't know if you are going to have a wardrobe malfunction until it's too late. And what everyone is wearing, aside from the two women on the left, is what they wore to practice in. (Except for the gal standing next to me, winking, She was getting ready to leave, and it was about 15 degrees F outside with about 18 inches of snow outside.

    anyone lose over 200 pounds?

My DH has lost 200 pounds with his band, it took 18 months for him to lose. He still has more to go, and had been taking a break for awhile.

Are you aiming for a bikini bod?

About 10 years ago, my son and I were at a Water park, and we met a woman in a black and white polkadot bekini. Her husband looked like he adorded her, and her kids obviously loved her. She weighed about 350 pounds. This woman is one of the heros of my life. She didn't give a rat's ass what anyone thought of her or her polkadot bekini. Just who are these people who think they get to be the arbiters of our lives? My current bathing suit is a tankini, and I don't care if my tummy showes. My tummy has done nothing wrong and shouldn't be embarrassed.

What size do you want to be?

Hi Freebit, I'm currently a size 22/24, and I'm a professional bellydancer. I'm sure not embarrased to run around the water park in my bathing suit. Why should I be? I haven't done anything wrong. And for some of us, a size 12 is skinny. It has to do with body shape and frames. For me, 12 might be a little too skinny. That would be about 160 pounds, and with my current muscle mass, I should weigh closer to 170+. My son's girlfriend is a tiny little thing. TINY. I don't think she weighs 100 pounds, and there is no way, short of a long battle with some dreadful wasting disease that I could come lose to losing so that I could come within 20 pounds of that. Why should I aspire to look like her, when I'm built completely different than she is?

    Preop Nurse Discouraging the Band

How very unprofessional! Oh, and it is so very easy to feel like a failure when you lose 15 pound when other people are losing 50, when you are working your ass off, making sure that your food is "good" and other people lose weight despite the fact that they don't excersize or work out in any way, shape or form, and eat still eat crap. But that's part of it, when compaired. I know that we shouldn't, but being human, we do. We constantly compair everything against everything else, making value judgements, seeing how we measure up against other people.

    not reading threads...

I'm avoiding threads where people talk about their weight loss, no weight loss challenges for me, and I'm even avoiding the threads where people talk about their first year. Just too painful, and I find I cannot face their successes that so thouroghly elude me. I feel like a heel for not congratulating them, for not cheering their successes, but I just can't face it. It's like the other day when I went shopping, and wondered into the Nordstrom Rack. To say that I was depressed because I still wear the same clothes I did before I was banded is like saying the Oakland Firestorm was a small brush fire. I was absolutely devistated knowing that eing a good little bandster is so futile, so pointless. I'm never going to lose weight, and I'll be fat forever.

  10. Oh Wavydaby! you GOT it! Fat does not equal ugly! This is something that I've faught this fight my whole life. I decided when I was 18 that I was going to be happy with my body no matter what the size, I was never going to put off being happy until I'd reached some mythical size that I might not ever reach.

    Calling tattoed bandsters!

It is my first. I needed a symbol of healing, but I still think it need more yellow, it being the color of the 3rd chakra and all... I had the numbing ointment, but I think I have a higher pain threshold. The other folks who had theirs before me all had to get up and take breaks, got dizzy and looked like they were going to pass out. The tattoo artist even commented on how I didn't need any breaks, other than when he changed out for the colors.

Feel free to jump in here...

If you keep airline in-flight air sickness bags in your car, you might be a bandster... If you have to explain to the head chef at the restaurant why you are splitting a meal AND taking half of it home, you and your SO might both be bandsters... If you get this wierd look on your face, and your family knows exactly what's wrong without asking, you might be a bandster.... if the phrase "my mouth was watering" is a bad thing, You might be a bandster...

To straw or not to straw?

As far as I know, straws have no nutrital impact, unless you are eating them, and then I suppose they count as roughage.... I prefer straws, they are more fun, and I swallow less air with them. And plus, when I'm out with my son, I can blow into them, making that cool low whistle noise and everyone thinks it's my son.... :bandit And have you tried to blow bubbles in milk without a straw? Such a mess!

    Nontraditional Curse Words

Many of the people in the land of my exile seem to be easily offended. One young lady was terribly offended when I said the word “damn!” She had just told me that she never needed to come to math class or study, and she was still getting an “A” in the class. I believe what I actually told her was “Damn! I hate you! Please be my tutor!” Her husband is in my program, and the next day he told me how offended and hurt she was that I swore at her. One of my all time favorite shows, Farscape, used the word “Frell” and Battlestar Galactica uses “frack” to use in place of “the f-word.” (and no, I don’t mean food….) Last semester in my ceramics class, I broke a pot that had taken me over 6 hours to create. At which point I exclaimed “Several Bad Words!!!!” Once people had figured out what I said, they started laughing. So lately, when I need to casually curse, I will say “several bad words” or just shorten it to “bad words!” One of the favorite swear phrases here in SE Idaho is “oh my heck!” which just always gives me a giggle.

    Calling tattoed bandsters!

Here's the pix of my tattoo. It's in the middle of my back, at my third chakra. I do need more yellow in it though. I thought I should add it with all the other bandster tattoos

    Bandsters on the loose!

Last Friday Victoriana and I spend the entire day exploring The Pike Place Market in Seattle. We took the bus over from Bellevue and spent about 7 hours walking all over the market, looking at all the really cool stuff, and buying some of it, making lists of things to come back and get later. http://www.vrseattle.com/pages/browse.php?cat_id=60 I've lived in the Seattle area most of my adult life, and all the summers of my childhood, but I'd never really spent any time at the Market. I'm looking forward to the next outing.

HUGE Headache: Need more than Tylenol

a good habbit is when you need one to make sure you take it with a large glass of water to make sure you wash it out of your pouch
  20. Okay, I'm not sure if I should get another fill or not. I'm at 1.5 in a 4cc band. I have some good restriction, but lately I notice, espeically being home this week, that I'm able and wanting to eat more than I was a few weeks ago. I don't have any illusions that a fill will help me lose weight, I'm mostly okay with it. Well, that's a lie, but we will go with it anyway. Should I get a fill for the psychological need or should I just not bother, since it won't affect my weight one way or the other.
  21. Okay, I am SOOOO glad I took your advice and didn't get a fill. I almost NEVER PB, but several times this week I've tossed my proverbial Cookies. Today, I PB'd on some very expensive brie. Looks like top ramman/egg drop Soup for dinner tonight. Again.

    Im losing my hair

I've started to lose my hair as well. But mine isn't from weight loss, obviously. It's one of the symptoms of Cushing's in my case, and it's hit me hard. I've always had just the most beautiful hair, thick and rich, but right now it's so thin that I look like I have hair plugs. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it.
