Your opinions needed: Deciding on a Goal Weight (or Range)
vinesqueen replied to NewSho's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Jacqui! I'm just gonna keep fighting until there's no fight left. Anyway, I still think my method for picking a goal weight is a sound one Sure, it's a little geeky, okay, a lot geeky, but I think this way it can accomidate everyone. Not everyone has the bone structure like my son's GF, which is a good thing, because I think the world would be really boring if everyone was the same size, shape and color! -
Excellent Ms. Vicky! Now, you go and start your own NSV Tracking Thread so that your NSVs don't get lost. It is so very important to keep track of them. They are what give shape and color to your scale victories!

*sigh* Thanks for asking Sarah, I've been a terrible spokes model lately. My mother didn't die during her massive cancer surgery, I'm still close with a cure for my Cushing's, my husband loves me and my sister is speaking to me again. On the down side, I'm within 15 pounds of my surgery day weight.

Thanks for posting this Lisa. I know that I went into my banding thinking I would be a superstar. I was going to do EVERYTHING right. I drank all my Water, excersized, paid super close attention to the "rules & guidelines." But I sit here, 15 pounds net loss. Scared that I'm going to end up even bigger than I was the day before my surgery, knowing there is nothing I can do to stop it. Bitter and angry are a couple of words that describe me lately. But I know that the band saved my life. I know this, even though it won't help me lose weight, as much as I bitch and complain, it saved my life in more ways than one. I think that it is important for people know what all the possible complications are. We all hope that everyone will have superstar success, we all hope that everyone loses all their weight in the first year. No one ever told me that it was possible to be a slow loser. No one told me that it was possible to gain weight at 1000 calories. But that is my reality.

I'm Feeling A Tight Feeling In My Chest
vinesqueen replied to Gettinghealthy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
ok, I'm glad you called and spoke with someone with a clue. (not that we don't, but we are not qualified for some things) I'm glad they told you to not worry. The gas will slowly go away, and you will be right as rain. You might try the new GasX strips, they might help. -
You know what? It isn't all that bad. I know how disapointing this is, really I do. You have come so far, only to have the target moved out from under you. It's hardly fair. But, they have set up hoops, so you just have to jump through them. You can't go around, or under, so you just have to go through. At least they haven't set those hoops on fire, right? So, you have 6 months of diet counceling ahead of you. I say what a wonderful opportunity to learn about nutrition and maybe some of your demons before you actually have to face them banded. I think you will get some good coping skills from these classes, and that will be more important than you think, because once you are banded, you will no longer have food to use to cope with. We all have food rituals, and I think that it is a great opportunity to learn new ritual, or to be made aware of your current ones before they are gone. The time might not go faster, but once you get into the classes, who knows? Maybe it will.

HoneyBaby, if you are having chest pains, please call your regular doc and get to the ER. Chest pain is not normal. (((((hugs))))) -
Your opinions needed: Deciding on a Goal Weight (or Range)
vinesqueen replied to NewSho's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Right, I understand that Jacqui, that's why it's a range. I do appricate you pointing that out, however. I also know that when I was 190-ish pounds I looked hot, because I was working out hours every day. I know what I look like at 175 pounds as well, so that's why I'm shooting for my range of 190-175, give or take. But this is just an academic excerisze for me, since unless and until I can get the Cushing's taken care of, I'll never lose weight. -
Ok, I saw your group pix from the NC luncheon thread, and OH MY GAWD! Kathy! You sure look like you are at GOAL! This is so exciting for me! I'm so excited for you! If you dont' believe me, get your cute little butt down and have your FFM checked!
-
Uhm, Kathy? I think I understand why the scale isn't moving for you... You look like you are at GOAL!!!!! Y'all look great, don't get me wrong, but Kathy! You look like GOAL to me!

Hey Robin, sorry you doc wanted you on 4 weeks of liquid, but there you go. Part of me wants to know how many folks were banded by your doc, and the type of follow up they provide. It is so very difficult to be on liquids for so long, especially since we have a psychological need to eat, not just to satify hunger in our belly. And yes, canned tuna with mayo is considered a "soft" food.

Vent away! Welcome Bandedmamma, go ahead and vent. It's good for you!

Your opinions needed: Deciding on a Goal Weight (or Range)
vinesqueen replied to NewSho's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Jenna, but that calculator put me at 116 to 145 for my height. If my FFM is 140, that would mean 5 pounds of fat, and that isn't healthy or possible for that matter -
Do I qualify? I know I'm feeling like a disgrunlted something lately. And since I haven't had much success losing weight... well, I'm almost back to my starting weight.
