    Did God make you rich?

Oh, yes, using church to beat up others... My dear sister lived in another state for several years, but chose to not attend any of the local churches. (If God is all around, then why do you have to go to a specific building?) She was a social out-cast because of this. I experienced this in my exhile. I do not belong to the dominate religeon in the area, and so I was treated like I was invisible. Not a happy way to live. I've seen what you mean, about the "Favored Ones."

    Did God make you rich?

This is very interesting. Thanks for starting this thread! Just this morning I was thinking about how terrible I am for being too materialistic. I want a whole bunch of new things, like a new waterheater, stove, a fridge that makes ice. I want a new washer and dryer! I want a new desk! I want a new car with air-bags. All the things I listed I have (except my car doesn't have air bags), but they are not new and shiny, and I sure don't *need* new ones. I want, I want, I want. Gimme, gimme, gimme. I know that I should no be so materialistic, but I am. All my major appliances are about 20 years old, but they all work. I am not a Christian, but a Pagan. I did attend a church based school, so I studied the both the new and old testimaments pretty thouroghly (even if I cannot spell it... ) In the 80's it became fashionable and politically correct to blame poor people for being poor. Instead of giving them the help they needed, it was welfare mothers destroying the very fabric of our socity. This attitude continues I believe. So many people are not given the tools that they need to get out of poverty, they are blaimed instead. As a child I was taught in school this "And I tell you this also. It is easier for a big animal like a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Matthew 19:24 (Worldwide English (New Testament)) http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=47&chapter=19&verse=24&version=73&context=verse And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Luke 6:20 (King James Version) http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%206:20;&version=9; These two verses had a lot of impact on me as a child. One of the things that I remember being important with my school lessons were focuses on concentrating on the rewards on the next life, and how we needed to not be concerned with making money now. I was struck with how important surving the poor, and how central to Jesus' message. Amy, perhaps it is a regeonal thing, but to have someone brag like that about you seems to me uncooth.

    ~ Lazy Co-Worker ~

Doesn't sound like much of a co-worker... Man, what a tough situation. I'd make a call to human resources, and see if they can offer any tips. Of course, I think we have some HR folks here that might be a ble to offer some real help. Sorry! ((((hugs)))))

    Whoaaaaaaa... Locking threads at will?

Actually, with my consistantly high stress levels, if it made me lose weight, I'd be on a board for people who were struggling to gain weight. So, logically, the ice cream was closer than the stess.

fun thread: help me name my tumor

I'm torn between "Poly" and "Pitunia"... so I guess depending when the tumor turns on or off, that will be it's name. (when it turns "on" I'm symptomatic, i.e. feeling like I'm on high doses of prednisone.) Thanks for playing everyone!

    Be honest....

No, I don't do 24, but with the couple of terrible dry-heave vomiting that I've done exactly three times, I stuck with soup, and very soft foods.
  15. I've never heard of Mia, but I would be very happy with her body! Maybe she would be a happy medium between Queen Lateefa and Linda Carter.... Here's a link to pix of Wonder Woman on IMDB http://www.imdb.com/gallery/mptv/1359/Mptv/1359/1640_0010.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Carter,%20Lynda I think I already look like Queen Lateefa

Still have to "work" HARD after lapband???

Hmmm, how much "work?" Cue Maynard G. Krebs: "WORK?!" I think on of the reason so many people are able to be successful with losing weight with the band is that it is a lifestyle change, not simply a diet. I think, other than head hunger, body hunger is pretty much taken care of with the band. YES! you will still get hungry, so don't think you will never be hungry again. You will be hungry because you will have gone for hours without even thinking about eating, not because you are forcing yourself to not eat. Hope that made sense. Some people don't have to excersize, and they will still lose weight, but theoritecially for the maximum effect, you must get up and moving if you can. Excersize doesn't have to be something boring, it can be learning new dance moves, going ballroom or salsa dancing, or my favorite, bellydancing. It can be taking up crewing (rowing) or rollerskating, or ultimate frizbee.

When does the vomiting just STOP?

Hey Saul, vomiting that much is BAD. If you are only able to keep soft fish down, then you are too tight. I have the same size band you do, and when I"m at a 1.5 cc it's too much. Everyone one is different, but if you are BPing or vomiting, then you are too tight. Being too tight puts you at risk for serious problems. Please, please talk to your doc about this. The state you are in is just miserable, and I'm sorry.

fun thread: help me name my tumor

Heh heh heh, that's pronounced "Pew-al-up" for those that dont' know. Althought it is hilarous watching new newscasters trying to pronouce that....

    What didn't they tell you?

Well, I don't believe anyone told me this, but banding will have a profound effect on not only the person being banded, but those close to them as well. There is so much psychological work that needs to be done, especially if one has been MO for most of their lives. We get used to being treated a certian way, being invisible, or other behavours and attitudes. No one ever told me that there were Turtles and Rabbits. No one ever mentioned that I would only be down 25 pounds net in 16 months. But no one also told me that my asthma would be all but gone. That instead of making sure that I had an inhaler in every room, two at my night table, one in my jacket and one in my purse and one in my jeans pocket, that I would now *think* I know where one is, but I'm not sure. The reason I'm not sure where one is, is because I don't think I've used an inhaler more than a dozen times in nine months, instead of using a dozen in nine months.

How much should I really expect to lose?

Well, actually DOC, I can think of a few reasons why, even if you follow every rule and guideline, you still won't lose weight.
