  1. This afternoon I went shopping, and I was confronted with all the magazines that promise weight loss, or celebrites who are too thin because they're mental, or whatever. I'm just so discouraged. I know that so many people have lost weight with the band, and I know that other people have lost weight with other WLS. I have to keep hope that once my Cushings is resolves that I will be able to lose weight. I know that so many folks on my other board who've had succesful surgeries have gone on to dramtic weightloss. I'll start testing tomorrow, basicly because I'm so pissed off at the world.

    Cushing's in the News

My Cushing's was found because I refused to give up finding an answer about why I couldn't lose weight. Weight issues are one of the more obvious symptoms of Cushing's. Anyway, right now I'm on a cortisol High, and I'm testing. Keep your fingers crossed for me to get really high numbrs. One more high number and I'll be on my way for my Pit surgery! http://www.49abcnews.com/news/2006/j...hings_disease/ You will need quicktime7 to play the video, but you are offered a download. I continue to believe that some of my beloved Turtles are also Cushing's. Especially the ones who've mentioned that they have new stretch marks, etc. Because almost all Cushies are fat, if not MO, I suspect that there will be a higher proportion of Cushies who've had "failed" WLS. That their choice, no matter which WLS they chose fails them because food is not our issue. I had a therapist who specialized in eating disorders tell me that I didn't have any eating disorder, and that baffled him, because he'd never run accross someone who was MO who *didn't* have some sort of eating disorder. :guess Turns out I have a BRAIN disorder  I told my DH yesterday that there is a significant portion of the population that need a second Pit surgery because they often don't find a cure on the first go. Then he started singing to "my boyfriend's back" substituing 'the bitch" for "my boyfriend" in that silly way he has :clap2:. He makes jokes when he's uncomfortable, but his song was sure appopriate! I really was a bitch yesterday, pissed off at the whole world. We sat outside lastnigh for more than an hour, just enjoying not being hot. He sprayed the swing down with the pressure washer, playing more than anything, but it sure was hot. While we sat out there, I explained to him why I get like I get when I'm on a High. He knows some of it, but he didn't realize all of it. You see, when I get on a High, I for the most part, feel really good. Except for the being a major bitch part that is, wanting to throw dishes and tantrums. But I basically feel physically good right now, except for the chronic headache. I have ENERGY, which is something I don't have when I'm on a Low. When I'm High, I have the drive to tackle all the big projects that I want done, like painting and gardening and pressure washing and basically taking over the world. And because I only feel like this for a few days or a week at a time, I feel that I *HAVE* to get busy and get things done because in the past I didn't know how long I will be able to feel this way. And I get mad at Mike and Spud because they don't share my sense of urgency. I suspect because I have figured out my cycle, or think I have anyway, I might be able to mitigate this sense of urgency. Until I have my surgery and am cured anyway! I'm hoping that this will be so soon. But until then, I feel very confident that I'll be able to tell the Guys that I'll be feeling good again in 10 days, and that they'd better be ready for the next project. :biggrin1: I'll be able to give them a schedule so they can prepair for the next round. So they can start getting ready *now* instead of having it sprung on them with no warning :bandit

    Cushing's in the news

Hey everyone, I thought I would share this news story about Cushing's. Jammie, the woman who's featured, has lost another 10 pounds since this story aired. Summer Time with Kids

Ah, my spudboy's no longer a boy... (cry) My house was the one with all the sleep overs too. This lasted until just recently, what with Sky and his GF making me a G'ma. Sky and Tab have come over a few times with my new baby, but ah well... If I wasn't so sick... Ok, enough of me whining! I mostly didn't mind being the one hosting all the sleepovers, but no one can eat like teen aged boys... And it did get to the point where I would occasionally make everyone leave my house... But if they were at my house I knew no one was getting into trouble, I knew everyone was safe. I was never bored as a child, I didn't dare. You see, if I ever once complained about being bored I would have to do extra onerous chores, like cleaning the garage or something equally awefull. I think many parents over entertain their kids too. I say make them entertain themselves! (ok, when Spud was little we were lucky enough to have a summer school program that was great. It was called "The Best Me" and was more day camp than anything else. Local HS kids were employed as mentors to the little kids, and it was great for everyone.)

Why am I so hard on myself?

Hon, you've been given some great advice. Please don't be so hard on yourself. The band works for most people, so your chances of it not working are very, very remote. Courage dear-heart! Just so you know, in a couple of days or so, you might start having a freak-out moment where you will start to wonder just what the hell you did to yourself. (it usually happens with in the first couple of weeks). Sort of "AHHHHHH! WHAT THE HELL DID I DO TO MYSELF!!!!???!!!!" You will get through this.(((hugs)))

    Problems before 1st Fill??????????

You might want to avoid any acidic foods for the time being. You don't want to cause any extra movement or ... activity until your first fill. Oh, and I got stuck on Water once. Took too big a gulp.

    Crushing pills

from a different thread... Just quick remeinder that not all pills should be crushed, especially if they are a time release pill, or if they have a special coating. If you arn't sure, plase speak with your pharmasist! I just make sure I follow my pills with a large glass of Water to wash them out and down. Be safe and be kind!... Nykee had really bad troubles after her first fill, man I remember how hard that was on her! (poor thing!) I know that other people have had trouble with larger pills after a fill as well. I know that I had to break a few of my pills in half when I was really tight. It's the worst thing to PB on your meds. It seems that every surgeon has different rules, so follow what *your* doc says, just to be on the safe side. Later you might find that what works best for you might be different, but better lafe than sorry.

Drugs - What am I doing to my body?

Ah, the bi-polar key may be the key. Please find some help. This is not about being weak willed or being a bad person or anything you have control over. You have a medical condition that you cannot will way any more than I can will away my brain tumor. Do you have someone who is following you? If not, you *really* need to find someone. I know that depression like you are describing, will make this very difficult, but you must do it. This is not about being bad, or being a bad person. This is about having a medical condition that needs to be managed. Please be kind to your self.

    Body Image After Lap Banding...

Hi Rachel, I don't think there is any shame in wondering what you will look like after losing weight. I don't think it is all that vain, and besides, I think a little vanity is good. Not a lot, but a reasonable amount And New Sho, I don't think there's anything wrong with your reasons either. Rachel, I would look through all the before and after pix on that thread, I'm absolutely astounded that just about everyone looks years younger after they've lost the weight. And don't worry, I dont' think Bandsters have to worry about waisting away to nothing, especially since we don't have the malabsorption issues to worry about. Besides, if anyone points out how you've aged, you will have the energy to run them down and kick the living crap out of them.

    Letter to all....from LOTSOFKIDS

Holy cow Diane! I'm so glad that you were able to get a diagnosis (dx)! So often with rare diseases they take forever to dx, because it's "it's just too rare!" Someone on my Cushing's board was resently dx'd with the same thing. Sorry to hear about the steroids, do you know how long you will have to be on them? I HATE, H-A-T-E taking them, especially HATE taking them. I hope you get some relief soon. PM me any time!
  22. Thanks everyone. Yeah, I know that they airbrush the models, and digitally manipulate them so they look perfect, thanks for reminding me Lapbandit! I had completely forgotten that. Part of my frustration right now is knowing that there isn't anything I can do to lose weight, and it's just really hard to have all these things in my face. Neener Neener! Not for you! It's like being the last kid in line where they are passing out ice cream and they run out just before they get to you. Everyone else gets some but you.
