    2005 Vegas Bash

Penni, I will go on any ride with you, as long as it doesn't involve being hung upside down. For some reason, I cannot breathe upside down. OH!!!! and if I reach my that goal, I won't feel squished into the seat! I'm with you on the whole taxi thing too!

    Bored eating...

'Bandit, I don't believe you will be a failure! Heck, you've recongnized one of your major triggers. Once you know the name of your demon, you have a better chance of controlling it. (And my dad said reading all those fantasy novells was a waste of time!) This is an excellent time to take up a new hobby. Nancy, your need to eat while watching TV reminds me of "habit eating." I think the number on place for habit eating is at the movies. A lot of people have to have their giant tub of popcorn (oozing with grease), giant soda and candy or they can't enjoy the show. Now for me, food or drink is just a major distraction at the movies.

    Feeling Blue

I'm glad you are just in a funk and not depressed. Not fun. I second Nadine's suggestion about tanning. It is amazing how much better I feel after I tan for a few sessions. Just don't forget your sunscreen! (yes, I actually put on sunscreen before I use the tanning booth, especially on my face.) Of course, the only beinfit to being in ID as opposed to WA is there is actual sunshine in Feb! Amazing! I tend to also have low bp. (let's hope I also have low pb after I'm banded!) It is pretty funny when a new nurse takes my bp and does a double take. (I'm fat after all; my bp should be sky high, right?)

    What irritates you?

Well, since I am already the subject of gossip and rumor--fuled in part no doubt by my multi-toned hair and the fact that I've moved to ID without my husband or son (1/3 of the guys in my program have this weird notion that I"m getting divorced, nothing could be further from the truth)--I am pretty open about my upcoming band installation. (is there a non-geeky way to say that???) I still haven't decided if I'm going to tell my mother or not. She is probably the least supportive person, ever.

Glad to hear that you are doing so well! Good luck on telling your mother. I feel your pain on that one...

    2005 Vegas Bash

I have surprised myself at how much I am looking forward to this weekend in Vegas. I've long had a fear of crowds and a walking into a room where I don't know anybody is welll... not something I generally want to contemplate on a social setting. But I feel like I've gotten to know so many of you, I don't think I'll freak out too badly...

  11. Please send me some positive energy my way please! in 4 hours I'll be taking my business statistics final from LAST semester. I couldn't take it last semester, because, well, I'd just spent a week in the hospital because I was having severe asthma problems. (yeah, this latest round started in November...) Anyway, please send me some positive energy and good thoughts for passing the final. Now I know why folks usually go to university when they are young... pulling an all nighter has been ... interesting... and highly cafinated!

    Changing The Weight Tracker

From what I understand you need to re-create a new one to reflect your new weight!
  13. I believe I’m ready. I’ve done some serious soul searching. I know some of the reasons I’ve been holding on to my armor of fat. At least, I think I know. A big thank-you to everyone here for helping me along this journey. I’ve read almost everything posted since October, and that is sure a lot! J Most of it has been very thought provoking for me. I hope I’ve been able to add to the quality of the board, and not just created a lot of useless noise! The before-and-after pix are such an inspiration, as is the NSV thread. The results y’all have shared amaze me and give me hope. I need all the hope I can get. You see, I am still in the camp where I don’t quite believe that this band will actually help me. I have tried just about everything, but I only end up fatter than ever. I worry that it won’t work for me. I know that the band is only a tool, and not magic. I know I still have lots of hard work ahead of me. I believe I’ve set a realistic goal for myself; I want to end up a pants size of 12, and end up around 170 pounds. So, that’s just shy of 100 pounds, and a full 10 sizes. My first NSV goal is to nicely fit into a desk at school, not feel like a sausage squeezed into the desk… Food and exercise: I’ve examined my relationship to food, and I’ve discovered why I HAVE to have a house full of food even if I never ever eat it. I know most of the foods that trigger a binge. I have learned a lot about some of the various eating disorders. I’m learning that even thin people think they are fat and are made miserable by that. I’m practicing chewing everything to mush…. I even masticate in public! However, I’m a little worried about not drinking with meals though because I find some foods too dry to swallow without the added benefit of a sip of water. Because I’m currently recovering from a severe asthma episode that lasted for several months, I’m slowly getting back to where I was physically. I actually took the stairs yesterday without even thinking about it! Sure I was winded when reached the next floor, but I was exhilarated at the same time. It sucks being limited to “as tolerated” especially when I am still not tolerating as much as I was before this episode started in November. But one of my goals is to get my black belt in Tae Kwon Do before I graduate, and I know what that work will require. Aftercare: All aftercare will be taken care of in Seattle, which is groovy with me because it means I can write off trips home. And any excuse to go home is a good one. Okay, well, almost any excuse…

    Mushy food, ethnic style

I finally got around to making the Irio, and I was very happy with the results! I added 1/2 an onion and some garlic. Run the entire thing through a stick blender (or food mill or other type of blender) to make it truely mushy. It makes a fairly large pot, so you will need to adjust your mix accordingly. If you have a large freezer, or a family, there is probably not much an issue though. For added protien, add cheese, tofu or a meat before blending for mushy

    Is there anything I?ve forgotten?

Okay, I'm still obsessing over this. Reading the various threads about gas, it just occured to me would taking something for the gas before surgery be a good idea???? Something like those baby drops?
  17. I think any pet that isn't psychotic is a good pet... We had gotten a pup from my sister --they found the mamma dog after she'd been hit by a car. Anyway, I believe the pup was part coyote, lots of 'em where she lives. We had to put him down because he was vicious, the dog trainer wouldn't even work with him. I love cats too, but I'm too alergic to them.

    DeLarla's Weekly Fun Thread

ahmem. This thread is called "DeLarla's Weekly Fun Thread" and not "Oh Dear Gawd NOOOO!!!!!" My most insane weightloss was spending every waking moment I wasn't at work in bed with my first husband. I think I lost about 20 pounds that first month... <blushes furiously>

    haiku

Fine. just fine. <mock exasperated sigh> This pix is 3 years old, before I decided to cut and color my hair. I am just not at all photogenic. <sigh> Great, gee thanks Paula. Now I'm gonna' hafta figure out why I'm so reluctant to have my pix taken, let alone posted. Something to do with self immage maybe? pictures can't capture the love I hold deep within images of me (I don't know how to make the pix smaller...)

    What irritates you?

Hi Allie Lee! Welcome! I believe Dr Montgomery will be doing my band as well. (don't quote me on that...) But definately NWWLS... (http://nwwls.com/ ) If you still need a ride, PM me and we will see what we can set up.
  22. Actually, if you got to a public library, you can generally get phone books for an entire regeon, (like the entire west coast) depending on the size of the library. If they don't have them, you can request them. As for telemarketers, put your name on the do not call list, and then if they still call, you can get money, ka-ching!

    Happy Birthday, VinesQueen!!

oh Becky, it's fabulous! I was teasing one guys in my program because he was "so old!" "you have a 12-year-old?! Man, are you OLD!!!" I mean, I was seriously teasing him. After a month or so of my nonsence, he'd finally had enough of me! He said "okay, that's enough! I'll come and find you in 10 years and call you an old bag, and we'll see how you like it!" Man! Was he hot under the colar! So I calmly asked what year he grauated from high school. You should have seen his expression when I told him that I had graduated 5 years before him! Priceless!
