  1. Hey Pink! It is vital that you have a support group for this new thing! Other than my DH, LBT is my only support group for my Band while I’m in exile…. I'm a week out also, and I'm seriously reconsidering what I've done too. However, I know this is normal, at least for me. That whole buyer's remorse thing... For some reason after I woke up, everything tastes terrible! (I need to do further investigating about this... I have my suspicions about the trouble...) I see news stories of people that have lost a bazillion pounds with string and tape! (Ask me how!) Or they become these super athletes and suddenly start running full 26 mile marathons… And I think hey! I could do that! But I couldn’t. If I could have lost the weight on my own, I would have. If I could have kept if off, I would have. But I couldn’t, so I now have the Band. I'm not terribly happy with the Protein shakes, but then, even Water doesn’t taste right…. I’m tired of the aches and pains from the surgery. I’m cranky. I’ve got the period from hell. I’m back in exile. Did I mention I was cranky? But thing is, I knew most of this stuff coming in, and I get to move to mushy foods April 1st. I WANT A cheese BURGER!!!!!! But as much as I want that cheese burger, I want to be thinner more. I want more energy! I want less medication! I want to get on an airplane confident that I’ll never need a seatbelt extender! I want more boys at college to flirt with me! I know my DH went through this depressed stage too. (except maybe the part about the boys at college flirting with him…) I know some of the members here have had serious doubts about getting the band, initially after the fact. So I guess it is normal. Be good to yourself Pink. Go back to the liquids. Let it heal. ((hugs))

does this post make me look fat?

I can be very dense, and this is just something I have never understood. EVER. Why would a woman ask someone "Honey, does this dress make me look fat" and then get mad if the answer is that they do indeed look fat in that dress? HELLO!? If you didn't want that answer, why did you ask that question? And why would you be mad because someone was honest with you??? enquiring minds want to know...

    Exercise log book

walked for about 35 minutes today. No crunches.
  10. Ta-da! I am now a proud member of the Banded Gentry. Everything went really well yesterday. I stayed an extra night because of my asthma, but everything went just super. If anyone has the chance, I highly recomend the facility I used in Kirkland WA. Had a very interesting chat with my surgeon, because I have no support group in the land of my exile. He said that more and more RnY patients are needed the band in addition to their replumming. He also said to not bother with the support groups for that style, that it wouldn't be worth my time. oh, and they all thought my idea that I do all those crunches was a good idea...

Yup, this is spring break for me, and no, I live in my exile alone... So alone... Just me and my pink hair... Classes resume on Monday... My son is 18, so it isn't like he's a wee babe... (warning, proud mamma moment...) At the health club, he reps over 1,000 pounds for the leg press... No wee babe...

No crunches yet, but I sure feel like I didn't do enough of them pre-op! Because I have done so many crunches to get ready, they think my stronger abs (stronger than the average Banded that is) really helped with my recovery. The crunches and the walking I do... No pizza, not even anything pizza flavored... I added a Protein shake last night and felt much better. Only needed on dose of pain killers yesterday, hoping for none today. Still taking the baby gas relief drops.... I find there isn't any gas pain, just some pressure, and the drops help me burp. I figured out all by myself that drinking a can Dr. Pepper would be a BAD idea.... We will be taking me back to exile on Friday though
  14. Christina! Glad you are doing better! huzzah for us!

do you mean Nana? I believe her address is www.truefolk.com but I don't think she's selling things to raise money for her band.

    Favorite Perfumes/Colognes

I wear something called Lever 2000 unscented layered with Dove, unscented Of course, that is just me. Once, when working with my personal trainer (part of the last time I tried to loose weight...) we noticed some woman was wearing way too much perfume or perfumed lotion becoming to sweat. It was very pretty, and a little ... peachy... with a hint of spice. Turns out, it was ME!

    Smallest size in your closet!

I have a beautiful dress that is about a 14. I'm not sure what size it is because it is a custom vintage, 1950's Miami Beach dress.

    Coffee!!!!!!!!

oooooh cinnamon dark chocolate quad breve.... Somehow I don't think that will work on my clear liquid.... *sigh* I like to put cinnamon in my French Press (although pumpkin pie spice is yummy too) a little turbinado or dark muscovado sugar.... and some 1/2 & 1/2 .... My one true vice... (muscovado sugar is so raw there is still chunks of molassis in it...)

I spent the entire day Sunday on valium, which helped. What didn't help was cracking my crown (tooth) in half eating popcorn... I still need to get it fixed, but since I'm not eating anything... well, nothing to get stuck.... I've been on lots of narcotics for the pain, because it does get what's the euphimisim??? oh yes, "discomfort..." Actually, much easier and better than when I had my gall bladder out. I'm actually only taking about 1/2 the pain killers as prescribed. I've been doing some nice walking, and went shopping at trader joes this afternoon for some broth and teas. So far, just a little gas, but no gas pains. tummy itches, but I suppose that is to be expeted. sleeping a lot, listening to music a lot, and drawing a little bit. The hospital we use is really terrific! I've seen more than my fair share of hospitals lately because of my asthma too... The room had an extra bed built in, so family could have stayed with me if they wanted. And my DH brought in several of my boy-ohs in for a nice visit. I have the #10 band from Inamed, the same as my DH. It was pretty funny, the patient coordinator didn't realized that my DH was MY DH until the next morning. She kept missing him... My port is just to above and to the right of my belly button. He said they have less trouble finding the port there, and there is less trouble with flipping and such. Apperently the South American dr.s like to place it at the rib line and the EU dr.s like to place it on the sternum. The sternum would be a TERRIBLE place, as far as I'm concerned! Again, I cannot thank all y'all enough for your kindness on this board!

12 days til surgery and now sick

important to stop the herbs and herbal suppliments, because there is not a good body of knowledge yet on the effects of herbs. I was in the ER days before my surgery, and everything still worked out. Be sure to call your sergeon to give her a heads up.
