    Getting them to understand.

What a great start Nyke! 40 pounds in 5 weeks! That is amazing work! okay, you do not deserve to suffer. No one deserves to suffer. You are a person with intrinsic value, and because you have value, you only deserve the best. Please find some positive affermations and read them every day! It really makes a difference. I know that chronic pain plays terrible games with your head. I used to wear my pain like a badge of honor. I didnt' realize it, but that is what I did. Buy yourself different types of bottled Water until you find one you do like. I personally cannot stand the tap water here in Idaho, it's ... horrible. I've tried to filter it, but still, yuck! I find that the different bottled waters all have their own subtle flavors, and currently really like the Earth20 brand. Partly because I can get it in gallon jugs. The well water at my mother's place is terrible, but the well water that my sister had at her old place was WONDERFUL. Good luck finding a water you like! It's important! WOW!!! What a great analagy! I've never thought about it in these terms, but that is a great way to explain it! I hear by announce my intent to steal this thought! It will go along way to explain in terms my boy-ohs can understand. Water is generally my prefered beverage, but getting them to drink it...

  5. Pugs: one of the guys on campus has two pugs and an elderly daushound... I call them the pug patrol. I don't know why, but that just gives me quite the giggle. (cue 1939 radio announcer) dun duN DUN! It's Pug Patrol! Keeping the streets of Pocatello safe! I'm afraid that when I get home for the summer that I'm going to have to put my beloved Astro to sleep. He's 15 years old, which in doggy years is... dead. The vet can't believe he's still doing so well. But unfortunately, he can hardly move any more. When he lies down on our hardwoods he cannot get up by himself most of the time.

    Delarla & LBT Calendar Girls!!!!!!!

Man, this thread is busy! I agree with Penni--I think a before pix is a good idea. Isn't that sort of the purpose of the band?
  19. I would like to formally request some prayers and white light headed my way. I’m having a rough patch with my health, and it looks like it is getting to be … habitual. Two weeks ago, I had to be transported to the ER via ambulance. I’d had a terrible asthma attack. Monday, the 14th I had my band (a good thing). Last night I had to have an emergency D&C. They found some “suspicious” polyps, as well as a nasty fibroid that runs through both chambers of my uterus. (Yes, that’s right. I have two chambers in my uterus.) So, could y’all please send a little help my way?

    prayers and white lights please!

Yeah, as a matter of fact, I also work about 20 hours a week... A nurse came into my room this morning and discovered that I was the "wrong" person. She jokingly asked if maybe I wanted her to bring me a baby... I laughed. My answer was "NO!, not just no but HELL NO!!!" Then I laughed, of course. I haven't had an issue with my period for a decade, when this happened. This period was just one from hell. I mean, I went thourgh an entire package of supers in 4 days. I don't expect to have further troubles after this D&C. Maybe I'm just being optimistic, but well, that is my basic nature... I do NOT want any sort of hysterectomy. The ob/gyn said that there is a new technique for dealing with the troublesome lining of the uterus. Ablative something... Thanks so much for all the warm thoughts!

    Friends Question

I totally agree with Alex. A lot of people find it really difficult to deal with change, and you are changing before their eyes. There may be an element of jelousy as well, because you are doing what they have not been able to accomplish.
