Roxanna got her ba-and! Woot!

Anyone have that link that Bright sent for her big party? (At least I think it was bright...) I love formal dinners. I guess I never grew out of playing dress-up...

How long on stage 3?., hungry..Yikes!
vinesqueen replied to Corgi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Corgi, I was on clear liquids for 3 days, and I'll be on full liquids for 2 weeks. I don't get to start mushies until next Saturday. Of course, this has given me the opportunity and excuse to remember and use all my mad soup skillz. (my son isn't a soup eater) -
I finally have an NSV! my rings fit again! And I don't have the terrible edema problem I developed over Christmas any more! Woot! Two NSVs for week two!

Unfortunately, DDD just doesn't work for some of us... I think I need to hire an engineer who designs bridges to design a bra for me...

How do you get fiber in your diet?
vinesqueen replied to Iluvharleys's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been drinking lots of broccoli soup... -
I'm not been hungry once since I've been banded.

Nope, no coffee ban here either. Of course, I think banning coffee in Seattle has got to be illegal, or something. In fact, my nutrishionist said to drink a latte every morning as a way of getting my milk in...

My DH has been banded for almost two years, so my son knows all about the procedure, plus, he's 18. He didn't think I needed the band, he didn't think I was that big. "Gee Mom, you wear your weight well!" He couldn't believe that I weighed 270 pounds. I explained to him that my weight is causing me to have terrible asthma problems, like extended stays in hospital. He is totally supportive.

The very best gift I ever received was getting back my sense of humor. In my early 20’s I was working this terrible job where I had to work 2 graveyard shifts, 2 swing shifts and a day every week. After about 6 months of this I completely lost my sense of humor. I mean, NOTHING was funny. At all. I quit that job, and it took me a few weeks to find a new job. The new one I landed was all graveyards, and I actually grabbed the dishwasher by his apron lapel and demanded that he keep me awake. (I was a short order cook…) He was the funniest person I think I’ve ever known, and he gave me back my sense of humor. So, what is your best gift ever?

I was on steroids when I was banded for my asthma. My surgeon told me to take the steroids with real chocolate milk, not skim milk. What exactly are your concerns? My main concern is that I won't be as successful with the band because much of my weight is a direct result of steroids and other medications. (I've been banded for less than 2 weeks.)

welcome Traci! This place is really great, as are the folks! I think you will find us to be helpful so don't be shy about jumping into discussions or asking questions. You won't find any attitudes like "RTFM already." Feel free to search around and Welcome!

Way to go Zoe! You strut them!

Well that's just great. Fat lot of good that will do me, I don't get to do mushies until NEXT weekend! :cry

Right Paula! Obviously our children are gifts. I was hoping to provoke something deeper. Now, if you realized that you had to get your act together because you realize that would be the best thing for your child, then I would say that was a gift from your child. (After my son was born, I realized I couldn't be a party girl any more, and that I had to get my act together. That was his gift to me.)

Nancy, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

curses! foiled again!

Welcome Vauren! Yes, that feeling around your diaphram is normal, I think. I had trouble talking a deep breath, and my surgeon told me that it was because they have to manipulate the diaphram to implant the band. I was banded a couple of weeks ago...

Over Christmas break, my son and I discovered that not everybody has a radio in their head. We had always taken it for granted that other people can just normally “listen” to music even when nothing external is playing. It’s like an internal soundtrack I guess. Music is very, very important to me. Here’s an example of what I mean about my head-radio: One morning, I’d been listening to Rammstein while working on my math homework. I get ready for my afternoon class on autopilot. This means putting books in bag, and getting my mp3 player, PDA, and stuff like that. I was about halfway to school before I realized that the music I was jamming to was only playing in my head… I’d completely forgotten my mp3 player in my apartment! Anyone else have a head radio?

Oh Vera, I'm so sorry to hear this! Stick to your guns sister!

They actually have them, they are called doggles. Of course, the mere thought of doggles sends me into a fit of giggles. I think someone needs to steal the battery from Penni's notebook...
-
Sure, I'm in with Penni, unless Donali and I can be a pair of cupids!

AHAHAHAHA!!! Oh my gawd! Yup, every morning a song wakes me up too! My husband thinks I'm nuts, but Spudboy does the same thing too. Yeah, some of my co-workers think I'm nuts. This afternoon I made one of my friends listen to the song that was playing in my head. ... I frequently laugh at apperently nothing as well. But I don't have ANY memories of my mother laughing. Not a single one. I don't think she even has a sense of humor. What a sad way to live...

I didn't tell everybody about it at work, just some of the guys. Well after my surgery, my DH called one of my co-workers to let her know I was fine and she sent out an e-mail to the entire team blabbing the news! My boss told me yesterday that he was really proud of me for taking this step. That really meant alot to me, because I have the utmost respect for that man. I wasn't going to tell my mother, because, well, she is the least supportive person I know. (My sister outed me...) My mother really surprised me because she WAS supportive in my decision to be banded.
