    I need the best Advice

I don't know if it is the best advice for you, but I took valium when I needed it. For me, that was the best advice. Lately when I get really stressed, my asthma get worse, and when my asthma gets worse, that means hospital time. So... valium is the best advice for me. I also posted like crazy and tried to concentrate on my school work. Good luck, and post like crazy if you need to! (hugs)

    I hate fat people!!!

I've been thinking about this thread lately, so I thought I'd revisit it. I've been banded a month now, and I too am tempet to evalgelize the band to some fat folk here at school. Amazing how one's view changes, no?

    bmi 34

Hey Jenna, not all plastic surgery is cosmetic. My skin grafts are defineatly not cosmetic, allthough the wafle pattern on the larger on is ... decorative After my DH finally loses all his weight, his paniectomy won't be cosmetic. I think it is currently on a case-by-case basis. One thing we also need to keep in mind that the BMI is a scale, and we know scales lie! I know that the last time I had a BMI in the low 30's I wasn't fat. I look at the pictures now and wonder why I thought I was fat! (well, talk to my mother...)

I've pretty much stopped with the gas, but I do make the most amazing tummy rumbling noise! Rumble! Gurgle! giggle!

    Chinese Food?

I haven't tried Chinese yet, by my DH has no trouble with Chinese, Thai or Japanese. I've only moved to solids myself... Yup, nothing is forbidden, it is simply what you can tolerate. Some things we should just have in much smaller quantities...

    NSV (my first!)

NSV= Non scale Victory. These are the large and small victories that we have that have nothing to do with the scale. For many people, losing a dress or pant size is an NSV, for others it might be getting off one of their meds. For many people, the idea of turning down a gooey-chocolaty treat is the hardest thing to do. The fact that Mayra was able to turn down a favorite treat is a big deal for her. For you, it might not be turning down a cake, but turning down a candy-bar or pizza or a martini.

    Reflux Revisited???

It is rather suspecious that you've only had this on days you've eaten stawberries. It could be that you have an alergy to the berries? I would not have berries for a few days then have a a couple of berries. If you have the reflux again, you have a problem with the berries!

    G'day from Australia

Right Dayanne, I understand that walkabouts are dangerous, but I think we have a certian romantic notion about them here in the US. So, maybe a better example would be "out working with the sheep all day..." (the restaurants always have several sheep sheering tools on the walls too...

    G'day from Australia

Ah ha ha ha ha, I believe then that all men are the same! We have that same thing here! The only time my ex-husband would ever cook anything was when we were having bbq. He would think that just because he had dangly bits he could BBQ better than me. I just googled "australian food" and came up with a few sites. It looks like basic English food, which makes sense, but with some very unique twists.

    Person still wanting lap-band

Wow Mike, that is amazing! I know I would like to hear more about your battles and obvious victory. Perhaps you could start a thread under Insurance? I think you have a wealth of information that others could really use! And Dell, please don't give up! We have many sucess stories of people who were in your situation! Who were initially turned down but who successfully re-presented their case and finally triumphed.

    G'day from Australia

/e giggles! Yeah, sorry, I thought for sure I described the place! Doh! My only excuse is that I got really good marks on an accounting test--much better than I thought I would do! Huzzah! The restaurants are decorated with things like digeridos (sp?), and boomerangs and bright paintings in the native style. The walls have wood panneling and has a very casual feel, like you could just tramp in all dusty from a walkabout. The food is nothing special, but it's nice. Foods are prepaired fairly simply, no fancy sauces or styles. They serve steaks (land rovers), chicken (Alice Springs chicken) and sea food (shrimp on the barbie). I certianly don't notice anything that is asian inspired, but I"m from Seattle and San Fransicso, so I probably have a different view of what is asian inspired verses someone from Pocatello Idaho...

OMG I didn't die! Thank you Jesus!

Kathy, I think in this case it is best not to borrow trouble--Call your Dr! Keep sipping that tea too, the warmth should help relax the stoma.

    6 week post op visit

I was told by someone at my surgeon's office that the band isn't about restriction, it is about weight loss. Dr. Watkins said he understands that a lot of people trade one addtiction for another. In the case of the band, many people become addicted to feeling too tight. Patti, you are doing amazing! 36 pounds in 6 weeks! Heck, I don't even need a caluclator to figure out that average! That is tremendous work! (you too CarmelDeva!)

There is a chain of theme restaurants in the US (and maybe Canada) call The Outback. Nothing fancy, but nice places.

    Good Drink

Yup, SoBe is fabu! I love the green tea, I always get a bottle when I go grocery shopping. I know, I know, it isn't sugar free, but my calories have been really low... (rationalize, rationalize, rationalize)

we almost always had chickens when I was a kid. When I'm able to move back home I want to get a couple of hens. I think my neighbors would kill me if I got a rooster. But unfortunately, if there is no rooster, the head hen will take on the rooster duties, which includes crowing... My younger sister carried home several baby chicks after visiting our Grandmother. She carried them in her jacket pocket. On the airplane... Of course, this was before there was much need for security....
