Welcome to the Banded Gentry Alatina! My first week I mostly slept, although I went shopping at Trader Joe's the morning I got out of the hospital. (I stayed overnight) Watched several DVDs, went to the movies, read trashy novels, drove the 11 hour drive to my exile. Okay, I didn't actaully do the driving, my DH drove, I mostly slept while he drove) And you will need to create a new ticker each time. I think the only tickers that automatically update are the ones that count down to something.

Reality check & average weight losses....
vinesqueen replied to Wyld Blu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
bumping for Connorsmom. I've lost an average of 4 pounds a week, but I dropped about 10 pounds the first week, mostly Water weight. (I had terrible edema so, I'm thrilled with those first 10 pounds!) -
I need to be much better tracking my excersizing .... Okay, walked, and walked and walked. Tuesday we learned to trot, so I spent the better part of two hours standing in the stirups learning to trot the right way, as opposed to being bounced to little bits. I was astounded by the sweat I worked up! I'm still very sore and stiff! This morning I did 50 crunches.

Now That We Got Here How Do We Get Past The Ice Cream Demon
vinesqueen replied to NY LAPSTER's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Steve, I've never looked at ice cream as a demon, but then I have always felt that ice cream = love. My dad was an ice cream fiend, Cookies and ice cream! Some of my fondest childhood memories were where we all got a bowl of ice cream and cookies and sat around the TV watching the Smother's Brothers, or Sonny and Cher. There was no fighting, no hitting, no crying. The wolves were happy. (I was raised by wolves...) I will never give up ice cream, but like Alex, I can't imagine sitting and eating a whole pint in one sitting either. I generally eat my ice cream out of a martini glass. Silly I know, but somehow it makes the ice cream eating more... elegant perhaps. "moderation in all things" -- Terance (118 - 159 BC) -
Is it normal for the band to "loosen" up during the day
vinesqueen replied to Connorsmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Lauren! actually, you are right on target for losing weight. The rule I've been told is that we should be losing 1-2 poundsa a week, and at 2 pounds lost in both weeks, you are going great! tick, tick, tick. One week, two pounds, week two, four pounds, week three six pounds...... It's additive, so after a month, you will have lost almost 10 pounds. Woot! I am currently losing one pound a week, not bad for not having a fill. Of course I want faster weight loss, Iwanteverythingnow, hurryup!Hurryup!HURRYUP!GIMME! If I continue with this rate of one pound a month, I will have dropped 52 pounds over the year. I can live with a 52 pound loss over a year! Beats the hell out of gaining 10, 15 or 20 pounds that I would probably gain, right? From what everyone says, the concensus is that the band does get looser as the day wears on. I don't eat much in the mornings, but it hasn't been my habit to have anything in the morning but my beloved coffee. -
Wow Vikka! a size 10! that is a tremendous NSV!

Ok..im trying to understand the situation of eating/drinking
vinesqueen replied to CollegeJoe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Joe, sometimes I will have a small sip of Water to clear my palette. I hate the feeling of food left in my mouth. but I only take a SMALL sip. The philosophy behind not drinking is that it washes the food out of the pouch. The whole deal with the band is to create a pouch to hold the food as long as possible. -
I have no baby pix here in exile.
-
okay Terri, you've had plenty enough time! any more steps? This is so exciting, and I've been thinking about this for the last week or so!
-
I was a bottle baby. I breast fed my spudboy until I had my motorcycle accedent, he was 3 months old.
-
uhm, is her head big? my son had troubles with his head too, but his head was so big he looked like a dang space alien (one of the greys...) He didn't walk until he was about 18 months old either, his only trouble was his dang big head. (he started talking at 9 months)

5 Days Until Banding and I'm a WRECK!
vinesqueen replied to BeckyinTexas's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Becky, as soon as Zoe shows up with her size 11 boots... Becky, both my DH and I had a great recovery. The worst pain I had was from cramping from my period. My DH was in the hospital for several days, but he is a very special case--he weighed 600 pounds when he was finally banded. Most of the people who get the band have very few complications! -

If you won a million dollars, what would be the first thing you would do with it? pay my tuition, pay my son's tuitions, pay the tuition for my other boy-ohs... 13. What are your favorite books to read? I love trashy sci-fi and fantasy, but I read lots of technical books on security. 14. What is your favorite TV program? Farscape, but it's off the air now. So I would probably pick Stargate
