    Where's the support?

There is no bandster support group in SE Pocatello, where I live for most of the year. There is a new WLS surgeon who is seriously promoting the bypass (no band) via TV commercials. My surgeon said to not attend their support groups. Our challenges would be completely different, and he just didn't think I would find any useful information that would apply to my needs as a bandster. For most of the year, LBT is the only place I can go for support. The folks here are absolutely great.

    New Pics of Penni

I am constantly amazed that the after (or during) pix show a younger looking person than the before pix. I can't think of a single person that looks older after loosing weight with the band, and you Penni, are certianly no exception!

Do you save a lot of $$ on food?

well, last week my DH and I went out for dinner. We only ordered one entre. No desert, no apps, but we did get an extra salad. We couldn't even eat the entire entre between us, but our dog got the leftover salads.

    Question reagrading PB'ing

Well, I've been banded since mid March, and just got my first fill. No BPs here either. You can eat everything because you are wide open because you've not had a fill. Don't worry, and I think you are doing things EXACTLY right.

    Today is my first fill

I had my first fill on Thursday and it didn't hurt. I'm a big baby, and it was only a couple of pokes. She filled me, then made me drink some Water. Then she took some out. Of course, she didn't take out enough... So I have to go in for an unfill... Oh, and she was very good, she never let me see the needle. Not once.

    OK, I am SOOOO confused....

Blu, this just doesn't sound right. From a physics point of view, it just doesn't sound right. I would have them check you under the fluro. At 3.5 cc you would be at liquids only

    Questions and Concerns

Welcome Lady Bird. I don't think you will find anyone here on LBT that would advocate the types of WLS. We have all chosen the band, and are invested in the band. Pretty typical of people who make life chaning investments. However, one thing different about this board--we will be supportive of what ever you choose. I've visited other boards and one of the things I noticed right away was the name calling. "you're stupid if you choose X type of WLS. The only effective type of WLS is Z procedure." You won't find any of that smack talk here.

    Just told my mother

I never did tell my mother for fear that it would turn into drama city. My older sister, whom I swore to screcracy, told. The surprizing thing is that my mother has been completely suportive of me and the band. I'm sure that part of it is that she's seen what great results my DH has had. But I now know that my sister is a blabber mouth!

    Astrology

I have learned that Virgos are happiest when they can have their lists. They may not need to actually do anything with the list, but they need their lists.

    urine catheter

No catheter for me or my DH. Not sure what you mean by "contaminate everything." Do you mean involuntarily urinating in the OR? They had me empty my bladder before my procedure, and from what I understand, most procedures take about 45 minutes, if your surgeon is well qualified.

    Attack of the Fast Food!!!

I'm a full time student and I work part time too. I try to cook a large meal and freeze the leftovers so I can just grab something quickly. If my first fill is anything to gague my new life, I think cooking a regular meal and freezing it would give me 18 different meals! Yikes!

Because you guys are like family...

Wow Jonathan, I think the only major stressor you don't have going on is a death. Please be good to your self and family. Divorce is never easy, on anybody involved. I've actually known a couple of people who've married the same person twice. Congrats for following your heart and going to divinity school. I think it is wonderful when poeple have a true calling. I know that I do. And congrats on not gaining weight during this very difficult time.

    Astrology

I'm a pices by 4 hours. I did NOT want to be an aquarian, which is funny because so many of my houses are in aquarius.... My mom and dad were both aquarian, as is my spudboy. Both my older sibs are Aries, both younger sibs are cancer. DH is a Virgo. My dog Astro is a Scorpio.

    Non-scale Defeat

It's from a Steve Martin comidy sketch from "let's get small" The exact quote "I love money, I love everything about it. I'm into bread. I've bought some pretty cool stuff. $300 pair of socks, a fur sink. Oh, an electric dog polisher, a gasoline powered turtle neck sweater, and of course, I bought some dumb stuff too..."
