Great Article on New Life as a Thin Person
vinesqueen replied to donali's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Bravo Karen! Most people haven't made the connection yet. I don't care what weight-loss method you are trying to use, whether it is Bob's Amazing Diet Pill or WLS... losing weight will not change anything, fix anything, except for health issues. -
the first think that popped into my head when I saw the title of this thread was "don't do both at the same time." It took a few weeks, but I'm back to sleeping on my tummy full time. I used big pillows until I could actually sleep on my tummy again. (slept hugging them.) Luckily the combo of meds I'm on has kept my alergy season to a minimum. (I've been known to sneeze for a 1/2 hour, one right after the other.) My band hasn't complained too much about the sneezing.

Are there any veteran bandsters out there
vinesqueen replied to g curtis's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hello Lady Gaynor. I'm not a veterian, but my DH is. His 2 year bandiversary is fast approching. He has lost just shy of 200 pounds and is still loosing. (keep your fingers crossed, we weigh tonight, and I'm hoping he crosses into Tripoli tonight.) He hasn't gained back any of his weight, but he has had several very long plateaus. I think it's been good, because it has given him the chance to get used to getting smaller and smaller. (I'm just a baby bandster myself.) -

okay, I don't have trouble getting in my dairy. Never had, and as long as cheese is a dairy, I never will. this weekend I went to a new grocery store... Mimmolette cheese, a beautiful new Westland Holland Leyden (with cumin) and some brie that is oh-my-gawd good. (I can easily spend $100 on a cheese board for a party...)

okay, I have a fill and I have restriction. I discovered that if I don't eat breakfast I get hungry earlier with that damn "hard" hungery. I think the "hard" hunger is very dangerous because I forget to chew really well, or I eat too fast or too much.

These aren't so much quotes as the prinicples I live by... god never told you to be stupid. -old Jewish proverb Never borrow trouble -old English proverb Milk is not a finger food--Family Circus (I'm going to paint "Milch ist nicht eine Fingernahrung" accross one of the beams in my kitchen.) oh.. I have a million more...

I find that if something gets suck, even a little bit, then everything sticks that entire day. This is why I don't think it's a PB issue. I don't think I'm over filled, I'm only at 1 cc. Oh, and I love my brocoli, I normally don't have any trouble with it either. Heck, my dog loves his brocoli too...
-
I don't think I PB'd. DH is the king of BPs and I didn't anything near what he had, nor was it anything like what other people have described as a PB. I didn't have the thick mucus, just extra salivation. Oh and that aweful pain.

okay, I'll post my pix and weight tonight after I get back from meeting Bruce Campbell! Neener neener! I don't have a scale, and tonight is the support meeting for my surgeon. I don't keep liers in my house, so I've gotta wait until I can be weighed in a room full of strangers. Remind me again who came up with the bright idea of a before pix? Get a rope!

When Spudboy was about 5 he came in the house crying becaue his friend Katie would never have a fat mamma. He thought that was just about the worst thing that could happen -- to have a skinny mamma

Thanks Kathy, sometimes I feel like I sould ask the moderators to change the title of this thread to Crystal's Never ending NSV thread!

And here I was, worried that I'd never have any NSV when I started this journey... Today, I needed a belt! Now, I'm not in any real danger of pulling a Jonathan in the grocery store, but my pants are uncomfortablly loose. I didn't even think that was possible! So, I dug out an old belt that I haven't been able to wear and it fit! 1 notch down, 13 more to go!

Will anyone ever notice my weight loss?
vinesqueen replied to Alexra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
holy vanishing woman batman! I think Darcey's right, they probably don't know what to say. They are probably in shock. That is a huge difference! I was raised by wolves, I don't think they will ever notice. Except my deer sweet Gandma. Every single time she sees me she asks me if I've lost weight, even when I've gained it. -
No, no, not my sweet old dog. I read that and my heart took a leap. He's just getting older and lumpier. Last week I started to add Senior Formual dog gravey to his food, plus I started him on the Breeder's Choice brand Active Join Treats. I give him 3 extra Cookies a day and it's really seems to have made a big difference! He's much more mobile and actaully wanted to play with his squeeky baby. Christina, I'm still crying for Gunner, and for you.

I dunno Jonathan, sounds like a cop-out to me.... (WINK) I mean, you're doing exotic dancing in Walmart....

Actually, I have reclaimed food-time in a different way. I find I am so much more mindful of time I spend on food. Before I was banded, food wasn't something that I frequently thought about, I was more like a shark--an eating machine. I didn't eat my food so much as inhale it, A big food-hoover (insert sucking sound). Because I have to be mindfull of what I eat, I spend more time perpareing it. I spend more time eating it, because I have to chew. Oh gawd, I've gotta chew otherwise well, it isn't pretty and you know what I'm talking about.

The quote I used was "Dogs have owners, cats have staff" -- Unknown.

I'm in. If I can find it. I've got a tank-ini so it shows of my sexy-sexy belly

What is "normal" amount of first fill?
vinesqueen replied to clg8579's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would suggest calling your doc. Different docs have different "normals." Your milage may vary. -
How much weight has everyone lost?
vinesqueen replied to Kristi74's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
50 pound in 5 months? that averages to 2.3 pounds a week. Slow? Baby, That's right on track. I'm down 25 in 3 months. -
I gained weight on depro provra AND got stupid. I hate to take anything that will dull my wits. I'm not that sharp to begin with! Hated, hated, hated depro.
