    Honesty

Congratulations Lisa! How absoulutely freaking wonderful! I'm so proud of you for starting to figure it out! I think sometimes that those of us who were raised by wolves have a difficult time with stuff "normal" people understand. When you have crazy as your only model, well there is no way for us to be "normal." I wish I could give you a big bunch of helium ballons to celibrate your epifany. I've been thinking about us lately, you and me, raised by wolves. I don't really know anyone else who grew up crazy. Sometimes I wonder how much permanent damage was done. I know I tease about being raised by wolves and I know it isn't fair to real wolves out there. But I also tease that my son was raised by a pack of wild dogs... Honesty is always the best policy. Even if my PCP doesn't initailly believe me sometimes.

what the heck is a "food high?"

well, maybe I understand. For me ice cream = love, but when I have ice cream, I generally limit myself to a small coffee cup, not one of my giant Coffee mugs is this for Coffee only.

step away from the fritos! HELP

Keri, first off, THERE IS NO CHEATING. This is NOT A DIET it is our lives. Sometimes we will have chips or candy or something that is not healthy. Note I didn't say "bad" because there is no bad food, unless off course, you dont remember to clean your frige. My only other advice for you Keri is STOP POKING YOUR PORTS. Other than that, you are doing fine.

    Make-up

Sorry DeLarla, the thought of trying to air dry my body in Seattle makes me laugh... It would take HOURS When I'm in ID I make a body scrub with the almond oil, olive oil, rough sea salt (like rock salt), epson salts and lavender. Talk about soft! I don't need it at home, but the high mountian desert just wants to desicate me.

    Make-up

Okay, y'all are going to laugh so hard all y'all are fall out of your chairs.... DeLarla, you were talking about your permanent eye-liner (you look mha-vo-lous, btw) and talking about just needing a little bronzer and founation. Okay, I was raised by wolves. Wolves eat their young when they try to wear make-up. As a teen-ager, I didn't learn the whole "girl thing" because I didn't get teen-agers, especially girls. I've always thought the whole "boy-crazy" thing was ... crazy. ... ANYWAY I don't have a clue about make-up. Oh sure, I could create a werewolf make-up, including the wig-work, or create some creepy Halloween effect, but I simply have no clue about regular street make-up. I never wear it, excpt for some wonderfully dark lipstick, or some glitter in my hair. (yeah, I know, what am I? 12?) I understand the mechanics, so that isn't my question. I notice that lots of make-up now doubles for a sunscreen, which is good. I wear a sun screen when I am in exile, but that's about it. Okay, how and why do you wear bronzer? what brand of foundation/powder do you prefer how much do you spend on a tube of lipstick, and what type do you perfer? (I'll happily spend $18 on a really good lipstick. Can't stand the taste of cheap lipstick)

what the heck is a "food high?"

sooo, it's a binge thing? I'm not a binger, so I'm clueless. I can't imagine "the desire never to stop."

    In NY for a week...

hey gang, I'll be in NY for a week, with plenty of free time on the weekend. Just a few meet & greet activities I have to attend. I'll be in Syracuse for a symposium in a couple of weeks. Let me know if that is close for any one. Cheers!

    In NY for a week...

I won't be renting a car since that would just be silly given how busy I'll be during the week... If it was winter, I'd just wave at one of our swans for you. Oh wait, no swans in exile.

Oddly enough, that is also the definition of testing software...

Gee Vera, you look so good in the red bikini, why'd you get a new band?

Other people set goals. I set traps.

I'm number obsessed too. I think part of it is that I'm just so darn impatient, and I want the weight gone NOW. Heck, it's been 3 and a half months since I was banded. Shouldn't I have lost 100 pounds by now? I mean Geez! Is that too much to ask? (jumps deftly out of the way of Zoe's boot)

step away from the fritos! HELP

it is amazing how perceptions change once we've been banded, especially if we have been on liquids for weeks on end. Check your calories for the day, for the week. Every time I feel like my eating is "out of control" I check my calories. Check your calories. And fritos now and again are not going to kill you. Be kind to yourself. You haven't had a fill yet, so you have the same hunger you had pre-band.
  18. I have had side effects--I no longer need my asthma inhaler, or almost no longer need it. I also have more energy. You didn't qualify about having good or bad side-effects. I've only had good ones.

    NSV...for me :)

    that's fabulous! Great NSV
  20. Oh Sonnie! I don't know where you are, but you need a second opionion NOW. I mean right NOW. Has you doctor done any tests? or are they just giving you the brush off? Serious stuff hon, keep us posted. I hate lazy doctors.

    What's your July 4th plans?

people who can draw only make up one little fraction of artists. Dancers, writers, painters, photographers, sculpters, gardeners and cooks are only a small portion of artists. Anything you love to do, be it a traditional fine art, a craft or your avocation can be an artform.

    What's your July 4th plans?

Thanks for you kind words, but I think everybody is an artist, it may be that they haven't found their media yet. I've just started to teach myself how to draw, I found a great children's art book and have been working out of that. Spud teases me that it's not art, it's just a bunch of squares (his running joke about my art.) He calls this one "sticks and string" even though that is clearly a garden hose. Hopefully, now that I've done this, I can move on. You should have seen me in my rubber duck period... Picaso never had a rubber duck period...

Other people set goals. I set traps.

Alex, you set goals for yourself every single day. You just don't recognize them as goals. Anytime you plan something, you are setting a goal, whether that goal is to go grocery shopping or to take over the world. *narf!* have yourself a lovely bit of hard Protein, that should help with the craving, or snack on something healthy (yeah, I know, I know) How are your calories looking these days? Can your calorie budget cover the yogurt?

    I am banded

oooh, stay away from V8 for a while. too acidic, and right now, your only concern is to heal. No tomato anything for a while. I don't know why no milk for you. I had chocolate milk in the hospital with my nightly meds. Doctor's orders, and if he says chocolate milk, do you think I'm going to argue?
  25. If you aren't ready, you aren't ready. But I was in a total panic just before my banding. From what I can tell, if you aren't sent into a panic, there is something wrong with you. I couldn't be happier though. You will be able to eat yummy foods. Why do you think you wouldn't be able to? Be prepaired though, what you used to love, you may find that you don't actually like it because you have to sit there and chew it to nothing. You may find that foods that were not high on your list now get bumped because you experience more complexity in the taste of the food. Hello, my name is Crystal, and I'm a foodie...
