Okay, I'm finally in the same place with my scanner and my old photos. That and I finally found the printer cable. This is the picture I'm using to rebuild my self immage. This pix was taken in ... 1988. Just so you know, Spudboy doesn't look like this anymore, but he is just as sweet... Take down those "fat" pix, because you are keeping that fat image in your head... So again, what pictures in *your* mind are you using?

Band Gone....Pocket Book Empty...Feeling Blue but Healthy
vinesqueen replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sonnie I'm so glad to hear that you got a real answer, and I'm even happier that you were able to get it taken care of right away. Sorry about the band, but I'm more concerned with your health. I know you know this, but I just wanted to say this, no matter what, you still make sure you come back here for support as you need it. You are still a bandster -
Is there a REAL explanation for this?
vinesqueen replied to Kelliebelly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't think that we know for sure why some people are tighter in the mornings than the evenings. One theory that sounds reasonable to me is that if we eat a lot at night, then it affects our stomache by slightly irritating the stoma. So we are tight in the morning. A different theory that also makes sense is that when we lie down, the band can achieve some sort of equalibriam in the band. -
What great news! Keep us posted on your new size!

prayers and white lights please!

My buddy is doing great! His procedure was actually on Tuesday but he was home Friday, and called me on Saturday. I don'thave all the particulars yet, but he's really doiing great. They did most of the RNY via LAP, but apperently they "dropped" something and had to open him up. He figures that he will have a 6 week recovery. Thank-you everyone for your kind thoughts and words. I have to continue to hope that he keeps doing well! -
Well, one of the people I care about the most is getting the RNY next week. The Band wasn't really an option for him due to a whole host of consideratations. I really, really wish he was getting the band, and I'm sooooo afraid for him. I mean, really afraid for him. He has some differeent health issues, and his life will dramatically improve once he starts to loose weight. He's about 450 right now, so obviously, he needs to loose the weight. Please send your prayers and white lights, light prayer candles or however you feel best connected to the Great Spirit, God or The Gods.

what a seeming contradiction in behaviours. One the one hand, you have this friend who is increadibly supportive of you. You do understand how rare it is to have someone who calls every day "just to make sure you don't need anything.." On the otherhand, you needed her to be your confidant, your secret keeper. I think we all need someone like this at different times in our lives. It's just that we tend to choose humans as our secret keepers. And humans are flawed creatures. We sometimes have really big mouths and don't know when to keep it shut. My sister told everyone in the family, and my friend told everyone at work, so there you go. I had only wanted to tell a fw people, and I wanted to be the one to tell. But my friend and sister had been worried about my health for a long time. and they were so happy that I was finally getting the band, finally going to get better Your firend sounds so excited for you, it sounds like she is very proud of what you have done for yourself. Sometimes we forget to use good judgement when we are really happy for onesome. feeling betrade is an emotion. You cannot reason with emotions, they just are. I think that perhaps you should let your anger go. It isn't healthy to let it fester. I think you should probably tell her how hurt you feel, but use "I felt hurt" statements, not "you hurt me" statements.

oh yeah, sore four days out? Of course you will be sore! I just had unrelated girl surgery, and stiff and sore my four days out. You are the only one who knows when you are full or not. And yes, you can get full in this period of time. But really, your most important concern right now is to get better and not to worry about weight loos. Good luck and Welcome to the Banded Gentry!
-
I'll be your angel too, but It will be in spirit only, since the physical distance is too great to overcome right now. You will do just fine, and you wil be just fine!

One of the othr things to keep in mind is your beginning health. If you have some serious co-morbid things, or develop some new issues, it is possible that you will have a much slower weight loss. I am frustrated with my progross. The scale says I've had a net loss of 1 pound this month. Sure, I've lost a whole size, but I can't help but focus on that one pound loss. I don't want to focus on the scale, but I do. I wish I never had to step on anthother scale again. I wish I could just focus on the size of cothes I wear, but I have to deal with the damn scale.

prayers and white lights please!

tomorrow is his big day. I'm so worried about him! As you go about your daily activities, please send a warm thought his way. He has some special difficulties that will make this procedure all the more difficult for him. Thanks everyone. -
well, it might be true for you. It might be that your band doesn't like it/won't tollarate it. What is true for one bandster doesn't automatically make it true for all bandsters.

Ideas: What do you do for yourself at each goal?

I believe Mari means a tablet PC and not the wacom digitizer http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/tabletpc/default.mspx I loved my tablet before DH broke her. I still haven't gotten her replaced, but them's the breaks of being a full time student. I can't aford new toys all the time... Luckily, as part of my scholarship I get a new notebook, and my program is using Tablets. Today, I did something really nice just for myself. I bought myself a new set of expensive drawing pencils and watercolor pencils. I can hardly wait to try them out. -
well, I've been very good about getting my protien in, and I dunno about my hair, but my nails have never been better. Before I went back to school I always had exotic length acrylic nails, loved loved loved my long nails. My nails never grew well -- very thin and britle. Now, while they aren't exotic length, are the longest they've been in 2 years. LOVE IT!

Kelly, I've been thinking more about what you said. about how yuo thought you would be happy once you hit 16, then 14, then 12. You are at a size 12 but you are not happy. I dont' think you will be happy at a size 8 either. I think you need to learn to be happy where you are, happy as the person you are at a size 12. Because if you are not happy now, you will not be happy then. A lot of people think that if they could only move to a different city a differnt state they would be happy. They could leave all their trouble behind. But once they get to the new city ,the new state, they aren't happy, because happiness doesn't come from outside. It come from within. Perhaps once you are happy and content with yourself at your current size you can let that go. When you are ready.

Kelly, I have mine done at my band Dr's. But reputiable gyms or universities should be albe to do this for you. Bell sells a body fat% checker for about $15 or so. I find it is slightly off from what the doctor's scales says. but we are talking a difference of a point of a percentage. The difference was .3%, big whoop. Just make sure you are really well hydrated to get an acurate reading. One of the other things you can do is find someplace to get weighed under Water. I believe there is a scale that was on one of the threads has this option as well. But even if you turn out to be 27% as opposed to 25%, is that added stress worth it? Especially since there is some research that shows that stress causes weight gain? Penni, I'm going on the bone thing based on what my doc said. It is possible that he was refering to my personal genetic weirdness and I misunderstood him. I do know that my DH had gi-normous leg bones... and he's been MO and beyond since he was a teen.

stupid internet! I do dream work Trish. Of couse, when I get really into the analysis, I tend to analize my dream while I'm dreaming it. Oh sure, it saves time, but man does it get in the way of the story! here's my wildest dream: I was at a party drinking tequilla shots. I mean, lots of tequilla shots. I woke up because I was so drunk. Had to hold on to the wall to make it to the bathroom. I was that drunk. The wildest part? I hadn't had a drink for about 6 months before the dream tequillas.

Lately most of my dreams are heavily influenced by WoW (world of warcraft), so they involve fighting and killing lots of monsters.

kelly, my last personal trainer was gorgous. Perfectly fit and toned and just wow. She was a size 12. People with an athletic build are bigger. Bigger doesn't mean fatter. I want you to go get a real body fat analysis done. I'm serious. You may be at 25% body fat, WHICH IS THE NORMAL PERCENTAGE FOR WOMEN.. One thing we MO or now just O people soon to be Normal people need to understand is that we have much dense bones and probably more muscle mass than someone who's never been MO. We needed that extra density to move our bodies on land.

Discrimination Over Your Weight
vinesqueen replied to j_war06's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Jodie, honey, I think you'd better have your mother start legal action over the discrimination you are facing. Your co-morbidities quite likey fall under the ADA, it's that whole death thing. Okay, is your ticker show really how much you weigh? 240? -
Gaynor, I can eat everything. And sometimes I do. but not all at once! Why shouldn't you be able to tolarate steak? Talk about your hard protiens! A nice whole grain bread with lots of Fiber is actually a good thing, every now and again. Just not an entire loaf! As long as you are getting 1200 to 1500 calories aday, with adaquate protiens... that's the target range. Patience is soooo hard. We see people who seem to be doing so much "better" than we are. We see the loss that the RNY poeple have. One of our greatest challenges is to not compair against anybody else. I'm personally frustrated with my slow loss. Other people see my loss and think "wow! she's just got the weight falling off her." but I compaire myself against folks that have lost double what I've lost and I want to kick something. I am concentrating on my NSVs and trying desperately to ignore the evil evil evil scale.

I think I went to the Calistoga Spa about 800 years ago. I did have the works then. Oh. My. Gawd. That was the most amazing experience, even after 800 years. You know I will call you!
