Don't stand up while driving. That, I think everyone can agree on. Just don't do it. Why can't you imagine your BP is low? I tend to the low BP side of things. (Always very funny when a new nurse takes my BP ... They always go and get a different cuff when mine comes back low. The expression on their face... priceless. A fat middle aged woman with low BP??? unheard of!) I have the same sort of thing going on, even to the point where I sometimes fall. The tests show nothing, so obviously, there isn't any problem... I find it is very important to make sure I drink more Water than I think I need. Good luck!

hey Lady Gaynor, The general rule for pills is that they need to be smaller than a pencil errasers. (or for our UK friends such as yourself, smaller than a rubber.) (you DO know what Americans call "rubbers" right? ...{laughing} I find that it is easier for my meds if I take them with milk as opposed to Water. It also adds a buffer incase the pills are going to be ... difficult

I'm new and a bit afraid of what I'm about to do to myself
vinesqueen replied to mercedes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
some people have restriction from the word go, others have no restriction until they get their first or even second fill. But no worries, no one who gets the band is in any danger of death by starvation. There is absolutely no indication that death by starvation is one of the possible complications. -
Flipped port In June, Clogged in August GRRRRRR
vinesqueen replied to Janieh123's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah, but did it eventually stop? -
try frozen juice bars, or something similar. Many of us find that really cold things help tighten our bands. Hang in there, tomorrow is thicker soup day!

Sorry Mary you have had such a rough time of it. I havent' had any of your same experiences. However, I've had different crap to deal with. The week after I was banded I got my period. The period from hell. It didn't stop even after the D&C. It didn't stop after the months of BC pills. It only stopped a month ago because they put me on depo prevera. I had an overian cyst rupture, and that was worse pain than child birth. I'm still recovering from the uterine ablation and laparotomy I had done last week. They had to removed the damage from the cyst and discovered that I had several cysts that haddn't ruptured. I still haven't had a "typical" banding experience because my hormones are all over the flipping road. -
hey Donna, Sally has the 11cc Vangard band--The Big Band. So 4 ccs in the big band doesn't even come close to 1/2 way. Hope that clears that up.

Ajack, I broilled a couple of nice steaks for dinner last night. Of course, One steak would have been enough for DH and me... but leftover steak salad is quite yummy.... There might be something you won't eat again, but then again, there might not be. I don't eat fried egg sandwiches anymore. Not because I can't tolerate the sandwich, but because part of the whole fried egg sandwich is the glass of milk that goes along with the sandwich. I really work at not eating and drinking. So... it's not that I can't have the sandwich, I choose not to have it.

wA-HOOO! watch it on the "pigging out" and try to not get into the "last meal" syndrom.... You will be able to eat again!

I just haven't got the patience to spend time like that on my hair everyday. Hell, I don't even have the patience half the time to put on simple eye make-up! Of course, that is why you look F-A-B and I look F-R-U-M-P

Star, do not worry about the days ahead. Your only concern is to heal, and any weight loss is bonus, not goal. I gained 5 pounds before I got my fill. Be kind to yourself!

I believe you are all making this up. "Favorite clothing stores?" As if. Enjoy going shopping? As if. I cannot imaging clothes shopping as a "favorite" anything.

My niece did the running start so that she graduated High School and got her AA degree at the same time. I wish that had been an option for me. Of course, my son chose to not take advantage of that program. I think it is wonderful if you can do it. Jodie, don't worry about your HS grades if you are doing something like the Running Start program. the college credit superceed the HS ones. It might have served you better to start out by telling us that you were in a chair. That might have given us a better picture. Of course, it is a case of live and learn. Alex is right, you might want to look at the other types of proceedures available. The Band is not for everyone, and if your really need to drop weight fast, well... Slow and Steady is by definition "not fast." Usually when people think of breathing problems they are thinking of asthma or emphsema and not sleep apnea. I sure think of sleep apnea as a sleeping thing and not a breathing thing. Of course, before I had the band I was facing resperatory failure, so I think of breathing problems in different terms than most. I hardly think that someone saying "only 240" takes much audacity, especially when some of us cannot quite imaging being that small. My husband started his journey at 600 pounds, and cannot imagine being 300 pounds. Some of us have difficulty grasping the whole "why would someone with a 'low' BMI under go something as drastic as WLS." I know I'm one of those people. You can count me as someone you "know" got a scholarship after taking time. I'm 43, and I have a full ride scholarship. Tuition, books, room and board, stipend, supplies, and a laptop. I was almost 300 pounds when I returned to school. But Jodie, honey, just because a phrase is accpetable where you live doesn't mean it is acceptable in other places. We do not have the right to hurt other people.

maybe that's the point! She's not using it and this is Vera's subtle way of showing off that she's getting some

Why has the scale not moved for 3 weeks?
vinesqueen replied to shalopash's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
well, maybe you need to up your calories just a tiny bit. Have you been watching the tape measure? You body could be saying "TIME OUT!!!!! I have to re-assess what we've done!" -
how long have you been banded, and what is your protien like? How long have you been loosing your hair? We need more information. If your doc says not to worry, then get a second doc's opionion, and/or don't worry

Protein, vitamins, hair loss...Oh my??
vinesqueen replied to Lisa Marie C's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did have hair loss after surgery, but it was from the trama of the surgery, not lack of Protein. I've been banded for just less than 5 months. and I don't use Protein drinks except for the rare occasion, or when I travel. My hair is great and my nails have never been better! -
This is a little crazy, but do any of you....

Moms of little kids, I need some help please!

I used the choices thing as well, and my son had ADHD on top of being an only child. I think it really worked well for us. Quit comparing your journey with others! -

not the end of the world, or the end of your band. go stand in the corner for 5 minutes. Okay, seriously, you really need to give your band time to heal. Some docs say that anything that can go through a straw is fine, others are more strict. Please follow the directions of your doc.
