Doctor Introduction; Self-Pay Program
vinesqueen replied to DrPleatman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Can we ask specific band mechanic questions though? I cant think of one off the top of my head, but I'm sure I'll wake up at 2:00 am some day with some burning mechanical question... -
New and Worried (Dr. Lopez)
vinesqueen replied to prettyone's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Lisa, we were talking about Lopez in the begining of the thread, since she'd used Lopez and had felt stressed out wondering if she'd made a mistake. She then felt that it wasn't fair that some docs were getting slammed, when it seemed that others got free ride to post all sorts of adverts. She also felt that some of the moderators here worked for particular docs, as is the case on other boards. After talking with Penni, she worked out that that is not the case. I pointed out that our experience colors our experiences, and then changed the subject to Pleatman, since I found the thread she was taking about. Christina thought she was taking some heat, which she wasn't, Dr. Pleatman wasn't taking any heat. ... So to recap, it was Lopez, Prettyone talked to Penni and got the real dope, and appologized. The thread got changed to Pleatman, where we stand now. On tomorrow's episode, we shall find out if Hope and Luke will ever get back together again after Luke's bout with brain worms and dealing with Hope's Alien Abduction. -
Very cute pix! Now get one for me with Dylan being the biker babe!

How has your relationship with food changed?

Interesting question abut how poeple would feel other docs posted. I don't know how I could feel. We have had posts from time to time from people who seemed to be a from someone in their office. At the very best, they were ... weird. But they didn't claim to be from the doc, but a patient. -
Figured it out - hunger after revision
vinesqueen replied to MuffinBirdie's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Excellent work Muffin! I'm so glad you figured this one out, and it can be really tricky! I personally am very sensitive to corn and soy, they both make me very very hungry. The last binge was because I'd had a root beer that was sweetened with corn syrup instead of cane sugar. I didn't realize it was a corn thing until it was too late. If I am going to eat corn, I make sure I have Protein and fat first, this seems to help tremendously. That head hunger can be a real bugger though! again, great work! -
Okay Penni, I just read the order to DH, and he says I can have one for my Idaho apartment.

Sorry for the sucky day. Yes, poeple on the internet are crazy, myself included. Not sure how an essay can kill someone, other than a poorly written one could probably brore you to death. ... Go to your cousin's pool party. You didn't say how old your son is. Too big for a playpen? When my spudboy was little he wouldn't take a nap either, but I would tell him that mommy needed a nap and that he could play in his room quitely. 70 hours a week? good grief, that's excessive, and I'm in the software industry.

Why do some Dr's say that the FDA will withdraw support of Lap-Bands?
vinesqueen replied to MomofSixKids's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The band's complication rates are much lower than the RNY, and the mortality rate is... close to nothing? Why would the FDA withdraw approval? -
There are several pix thread in the Lounge area too...

I suppose it all depends on what you mean by excersizing, doesn't it. I was back to doing crunches my 2nd week, and I started a horseback riding class my 2nd week, although I didn't actually get on a horse until the 3rd week. Something about needing to have an emergency D&C kept me off the horse the 2nd week. Walking, walking, walking the second week. And of course, lifting my ever heavy bookbag....

New and Worried (Dr. Lopez)
vinesqueen replied to prettyone's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
okay, I think I found the thread in question. However, there has been no moderator posts in that thread, so maybe it's a different thread you are thinking of Prettyone? http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=8331 I didn't bump it, and it's not locked. It is however, burried on Page 6 of the general forum. It hasn't been active for 12 days. (forever in internet time ) The doc in question was asked by one of his patients to introduce himself and so he did. Several of our members use him, and really like him too. He does outline how much he charges for fee, but most of the thread is very interesting and informative. -

How has your relationship with food changed?
vinesqueen replied to vinesqueen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Bumping... I realized something interesting has happened this summer. I'm not hoarding food any more. Okay, I'm not hording food as much. There. I am not freaked out when the fridge is empty except for a jar of martini olives, milk and half & half and a bunch of different food lubes and some other stuff. I am not filled with a vague sence of unease because the pantry shelves have visible space. -
Lou, like Christina and the Fabulous La Madam have said, this is a time for healing... You have not been filled yet. Life pre-fill is oh so different when you are filled. You will be happily eating along, and when it is time to stop, oh dear gawd, you will know it. You WILL stop. It's like a dog running on a lead, going full tilt until they reach the end of that line. BAMB! you will stop. You know why? Because you have installed a physical barrier to that level of behavior. However, that barrier hasn't been fully erected--it's not filled. Sand bags don't stop anything if they are empty gunny sacks. A gunny sack is inefective against a rising flood of river Water, but fill that bag with sand, and you have a pretty darn efective dam. Your band is like a whole line of sandbags stemming the river of food. If my DH has been able to loose almost 200 pounds, if the band has kept his eating in check, then it should be no challenge for a little one like you. Oh, and like La Madam said, you need to figure out why you are eating emotionally. Talk to someone, journal, do interpretive dance. But you need to figure out your food things. You will find that your relationship with food changing. I'm serious. Let me find and bump a thread for you that asks that question. Maybe if you see how other people are coping it will help. If you don't know where you are going, how will you get there?

Hello dearest Moderators, I don't have a single sticky thread in the FAQ forum. I'm assuming that threads that are inactive after X time drop off and are archived someplace. What can I do to show the threads?

Okay, I will my change my options, but how will this be of any help to new people to the site if they have never seen them? Am I missing something? Okay, wait, don't answer that... but still... -
Okay, I was under the impression that you were in lots and lots of pain. Phew! okay, you can to go the store, but ONLY if you ride around in one o the carts and you don't lift anything heavier than your head. I'm so glad you are doing so well.

I dunno, but I suspect you can still get invited to the *bottle party, being a former Brandybuck and all. Us Toadfoots were not invited. Harumph

I can't bump them because I can't find them. I know that whey they were first placed in the new forum they were locked. No way to bump Donali's fabulous posts... or any of the other posts either -
congrats! Keep track of your NSVs, when you see them all at once it is pretty amazing. You made me laugh when you said that! Good work!
