    Looking Forward

If you are not happy now, chances are you will not be happy after you hit goal. Happy is not a place, not somewhere you arrive at. You are fat for a number of reasons. Your fat has probably been a very useful tool for something. I know my fat is a frigging suit of armor, keeping me safe... Or I think it keeps me safe anyway. Expecting to only be happy when you loose weight is like expecting to be happy after moving to a new town... you will still bring all your old problems and troubles after the move. Except for the things with physical limitations, why can't you do them now? Many of the things you are looking forward too are things that are all attitude based. Why can't you prance around naked now? Why can't you wear a bathing suit in public? One of the most amazing women I've ever seen was at a Water park. She weighed well over 300 pounds but she was in a black and white polka-dot BIKINI!!! A BIKINI!!!! If you don't love who you are now, why will you love yourself when you are thinner? Why will that make you more worthy than you are right now??? Diva, get a mirror Mouse, the day you will no longer need a seat belt extention will be here sooner than you think! Of course your seat mate will probably not be to happy with you wiggling around in joy, and probably when you burst into song will cause some concern from your other passengers... These are the NSVs I'm looking forward too: Vintage clothes (my goal is to be able to fit into one specific dress I have) high heels more energy crossing my legs buying normal clothes sizes/shopping at normal size stores getting a breast reduction and getting rid of my grandma bras. I mean, I'm not even a grandma yet! getting a TT so I don't get the terrible heat rashes under my "apron" being able to handle higher temperatures

    What a waste of money!

Oh yes, it is a total victory! What a great thing to be satisfied on just a little bit of food! Great work! Track this under your NSV list!

    not much weight loss

The only thing I can say is that yes, I've lost slowly. I've hit a plateau. But I have other health issues. I've had two other non-band related surgeries since being banded. I was very, very ill for a long time before being banded. Words cannot explain how much better I am since being banded. I have energy, I have RUN for the bus on more than one occasion, I take the stairs.... I am not afraid I will die anymore from resperatory failure. Has the band been worth it to me? Hell yes. I've lost 35 pounts total since March. Many people have lost more faster... But I'm trying to be kind to myself, on Kathy's orders... It is entirely possible that I could have lost more faster with the RNY, but I honestly don't think I would be as healthy if I'd had the RNY.

    Someone explain the logistics, PLEASE!

There sure seems to be a rash of this going around. I almost quit because I wasn't losing and I thought I should have been. I felt terrible and actually had a temper tantrum... So, instead of tracking my weight (I'll not be getting on a scale until my next doctor's appointment...) Instead, I'm tracking all my NSVs (Non Scale Victories) http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=8943 since I have no scale victories lately. Tracking these helps me keep focused and on track.

Confused and undecided about lap band

For some people, the RNY is the right choice. Personally, it was not the right choice for me or my husband. Only you will be able to make that decision for you, not anyone else but you. I don't know if you have the opportunity, but if you can, please spend some time with both bandsters and folks that have had the RNY. You will get a better idea of what RNY folks have to face. I cannot speak for their issues because they are not my issues. I know that many of the WLS sites have RNY folks who insist that their choice is the only choice for anybody. I have read posts that are strongly against the band, espeically when people come looking for advice. They insist that their choice is the best and the gold standard, what ever that means. I do know that RNY folks have a short time where they can lose their weight. I know that with my band I can take as long as I need to lose my weight, to spend the time to do the mental work needed to adjust to my new size and my new body, not to mention the work needed to do to adjust to how other people treat the new thinner me. And that can be in some cases harder than how we react to ourselves. I also know that my surgeon does banding on RNY folks who have trouble with their RNY. Good luck in whatever you choose. We all wish you the very best, and you will always be welcome here, no matter what you choose.

    Buy Dove!!

I just went to their site and they are definately using plus sized women. I heard that they were using upto sized 14, but I have no clue what people look like. The model Lindsey looks larger than a size 12 to me...

    Bad Day

why is this a bad day? It sounds like an NSV to me! I don't know how much you've lost, your sig doesn't state it. But if you've lost a significant amount of weight really fast, you will probably have dramatic results in your face. This is one of the first things that many people notice in many of the RNY people. and yes, 12 hour day when you first get back to work is a little much.

    fun thread -- names

One of the contracts I had a guy named Richard Tickle. He requested his account name be changed to Dick... But one of the NBC correstpondents is named Mr. Tibbles..... Mr Tibbles is the perfect name for a cat not a war correspondent!!!

    Airbrushed models.....

pretty funny, but so scary too. No wonder people have body image issues. They want to look like Models, but not even models can look like models.

    Nervous...

Man, after what you went through last fill, I sure don't doubt your feelings! why are you going again so soon after your last fill? Mind you, I'm currently sitting at no loss for two months, but Jessie sure doesn't yell at me. I know you were thinking about finding a new doc. Any luck yet? Remember, you are in charge! We are all thinking about you, and only hope the best for you.

    My body looks funny

My body always looks funny. When I was breast feeding my son, my dear mother said I looked like a circus freak. Such support. No, I am loosing all over, not spot reducing. So, what you are really doing is bragging about your new hour glass figure, isn't it! I Knew it! Before we know it, you will be changing you account to M-Monroe

So glad I found this site

Has anyone had a "drink?" Well... I had a party this weekend, and we were supposed to have a cocktail taisting contest -- well, after 5 or 9 drinks or so people sort of forgot to actually pick a winning drink. Does this answer your question?
  22. vinesqueen

    Wrong Choice??

And you can always call your doctor and question the 6 weeks of liquids.
  23. vinesqueen

    Why don't I feel good?

yes dear one. you are expecting a lot. You just had major surgery. Because it was done laproscopically, (of course, your surgeon spelled it corectly...), and we only have little incisions we think that it was no big deal. Currently your body is going AH! AH! AH! PANIC!!!! THERE'S SOMETHING WEIRD IN HERE!!!!! While the band, tube and port are small, they are still weird things in your body, and your body has to move things and adjust things and all that good stuff. You may still have the anethesia still lingering in your body. But no doubt you are really sleepy and wanting to take lots of naps.

    Bored, bored, bored

Loopy! Great Avatar! Yeah, come to my house! We are always a disaster, even my ID apartment tends to be a disaster... I want one of those roomba robot vacum cleaners. I am almost never ever bored. Once in a great while I will get bored, but not often. I learned at a very early age that it was not pleasant to tell a parent that I was bored. We would have to clean out the garage. Of course, that was the same punishment my older sister would get if my parents found her doing homework. ... Anyway.... So Barb, what art projects are you working on? What about starting one if you don't already have one going? decoupage is really easy and the results are smashing!
