Depends on how you measure success. My NSVs alone have made the band worth it.
-
it all depends on where your port is. If your doc wants to place it on your sternum, you might want to talk to your doc about a different placement for the port. My husband's port is on his sternum, but he doesn't wear a bra. My port is on my right-front side, and I'm very large busted. I don't have any issues with anything rubbing my port.

Yup, I agree with Vera, wise choice! Good to see that you are taking care of yourself!

Okay, why were you mortified? A 1/3 pound hamberger is 5.333 oz weight precooked. We all know that the burger is going to loose weight in cooking. A good bandster size is 3 - 4 oz and you had at most 5 oz of meet. you had 1/2 a bun. Not the entire bun, not a load of bread, you had 1/2 a bun. You had 5 or 6 fries. Not 15 or 16 fries. Not 25, not 55. You had 5 or 6 fries. I don't know if they are shoestring like McDonalds or a bigger cut, but you still JUST HAD FIVE OR SIX, not the entire basket. No cheese! Hello? How can you eat a burger with no cheese? This was your first burger in a year?! Okay. Why are you mortified again? Because you are eating like a regular person? Zoe, get your boot please. Babs, you are healing right now, not trying to loose weight. Your body needs the extra protein and the extra calories. I don't want to hear "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" because you didn't eat the whole thing.

ferrets are very stinky. Very stinky. I'm glad you decided to wait and gave your son time to think about his little friend.

I don't believe I've motivated anyone to get the band.

Do You Still Enjoy Food Like You Used To?
vinesqueen replied to thinkthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't know if I enjoy food the same way, or if I enjoy it in a different way. I savor things more now. I don't bolt or wolf down food now, I dont' eat in the car anymnore. I take my time to eat, and so bad food just isn't something i want to do any more. I have a finite amount of food, and I want it to be yummy not just ... bulky. -
Coffee! Coffee! Coffee! but with 1/2 & 1/2 and some dark muscovado sugar. (I had to buy a new french press when I got back to ID because I left mine on the counter... next to the butter bell... sigh. I suppose one can't have too many french presses...

ONE WEEK UNTIL THE BIG DATE>>WELCOMING ANY TIPS
vinesqueen replied to divaliciousdee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
wear comfy clothes, don't wear a bra if you don't need one. If you need something to corral the girls, a tight t-shirt or tank top.. get some trashy novels, what ever flavor you like, trashy DVDs... Take naps, eat popcicles and don't worry -
Calling all March 05 bandsters!
vinesqueen replied to Madeline's mom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
no scale movement for me since early July, but I have had 18 NSVs... Today I am back to school, and I fit into the desks so well my tummy doesn't even touch the table! No squishing into the desks! -
Fat holds onto estrogen, and you've just lost a huge amount of weight. So you've recently had a large amount of estrogen dumped into your system. Call your doc.

Confused and undecided about lap band
vinesqueen replied to kat72's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm not sure where they got the idea that you have to "start all over" after a fill. I'm not even sure what that means. And yes, I was a little creeped out about having something strange in my body. I got over it. -
Okay, I've just regeistered for my PE class, this time I'm taking a dance class... belly dancing. Won't they be surprized? Hey, will laughing my butt off count as excersize?
-
I'll be moving to my exhile now, and I need to unplug and pack up. Be good, I'll miss you all!
-
Well, I have to say I don't know how my schedule is going to be. I have to take calculus, so I"m guessing busy since math isn't exactly my friend.... I have a couple of software classes, so that will be easy-peasy. I couldn't have done that to you Rae, I couldn't even drop in on family that late! Yikes! Of course, I have an open door policy so there you go!

Excellent news Pam! Okay, so I'm partial to NWWLS It's so funny Molly that you and I are the same height, yet at 130 I would look ill. I'm shooting for a size 14, or a 12 in my wildest dreams. Probably 12 pants 14 top, since that sort of the way I'm built.

The world just gets smaller and smaller!

Hey Lins12, you if you have no restriction, you have no restriction. I would say that there is no "too soon" if you need a tweek.
-
Yup, I would suspect a leak as well. I've played with a band, and capacity should give you too much restriction, given that the band is placed correctly. Good luck, and keep us posted

How much time off needed from work!!
vinesqueen replied to Judy D.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, since this was surgery, you shouldn't need to worry about using your vacation. You should be able to use the FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act). But many people are raring to go a week after they have their band installed. I was back to school a week after my banding, right as rain. Several of us actually went shopping the very next day! -
well, cream of wheat isn't clear liquids. Not by any stretch of the imagination. You can do this. Wednesday you can probably have the cream of wheat, but no lumps, and made with twice the amount of Water or milk one would usually use. Luckily, I was told anything that would fit through a straw...

Well, my NSV has to do with my hording. I gave 2.5 big black lawn & leaf bags of clothes to the help house. I was going to bring them to the bash, but I felt that they were more needed here. I was able to let them go without much stress.
-
Welcome to Bandlandia; it looks like you took the rocky-road to get here! Very glad to hear that your tumor wasn't anything really terrible!

You know, it might not be a bad idea talking to the psych. It may be that the band doc caused you such grievious harm the first time that you've developed a thing about getting filled. (it's called classical conditioning or something like that. Basically, if you've had a tramatic experience you learn that that thing is bad. [psych 101 stuff]) If you are vomiting like that from the stress, you just might want to talk to someone who hopefully can help professionally. If this sadistic doctor has caused you to have an aversion to fills... See where I'm going with this???
