Whos got these (or similar) stats?
MichiganChic replied to JessicaAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have similar stats, but I'm older than you, so that's one thing that makes a difference. I'm 50, so I'm going to be a little slower. My stats are in my sig line. -
Oh yeah, I MUST track. I really wish I didn't have to, but I don't have one of those super restrictive sleeves. I have to count/weigh/measure everything. I use my fitness pal, and that makes it easy and sort of fun, but I know if I didn't, I'd be over everyday, and probably not lose. Then I'd be posting pitiful stories about how I'm not losing and I don't know why

Don't know what they are, but if I liked them, I'd be getting them the hell out of my face, lol! Probably freeze them

Do you mostly sit at work all day?
MichiganChic replied to mysleevemylife's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Desk job for me, too. I'm fortunate that I work in a hospital, and can move around at will, unless I'm in a meeting. My office on the 4th floor, so I make sure to take the stairs up in the morning, and every chance I get in between as I go from floor to floor. Now that the weather is starting to turn nice, I was thinking about walking on my lunch hour. The ankle weights and thigh master are a great idea, too! Since my surgery, I went from not being able to make it up the steps without resting between floors to being able to easily go up all four flights at once. That's a sense of accomplishment! -
Bad Experience...
MichiganChic replied to Pixie Dust's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
An operating room should be clean enough to eat off the floor. I'm surprised that a reputable surgeon would practice in a dirty place, and even more surprised that it's like that since he's the director. In my experience, surgeons only want to work in the best looking places with the newest equipment. Anyway, good thing you live near the D, because the options are abundant to find good hospitals with reputable surgeons. There is no way I'd be going to that place you described, good on you for checking it out. -
Oh yes....it's a struggle. I'm not a gourmet chef by any means, but a good cook, and I love to entertain. I was known for my fabulous meals and gatherings. Now I joke with people they are getting what I can eat, very little of not much, lol. Seriously, I try not to let it change me too much, while still managing my eating like I should. I do struggle, and I find if I put one toe in the water, the desire to jump all the way in is definitely there! It's surely a work in progress, and I know I will always battle food. You did good by avoiding the apple crisp. For me, sweet things are crack. One little taste drags me right back down that path I don't want to go, and it seriously takes me a couple of days to detox from a small amount of contraband, lol! I really wanted to be able to have an occasional treat and not have it rule my life, but at this point, it looks like that's not possible. Congratulations Fiddle, for your strength

I take a small dose almost daily, ok by my surgeon. It was one of the main reasons i chose the sleeve.

Feeling regretful, does this pass?
MichiganChic replied to BriDawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does get better with time. It's different for everyone, but it's a major surgery and for most people six weeks is about how long it takes for healing. It is hard to think you did the right thing when you can barely stay upright. I had three c-sections and those, along with new babies were easier than this surgery for me. I remember one day i was so weak and tired I couldn't hold my head up. It's no wonder, how could I expect to feel good eating 300 calories a day? So now, 4 months out I'm feeling pretty good and not sorry I did this. Just take it a day at a time. -
25 pounds from losing 200 in a single year! Also in 4-ville!

Such an awesome accomplishment!! You must be half way there, at least! Keep it up! -
I just threw a napkin at my husband :(
MichiganChic replied to No game's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep, that's me, too. I actually have a hard time admitting to myself even what I've eaten. Part of my personal work is just facing that, and facing what I've eaten. I do track everything I eat, and I put it on my fitness pal for the world to see, but I really don't always want to do it! Like yesterday when I had a party, and today when I was alone all day....I'm going to bed now. I'm out of calories. And right this minute I'm really not thinking about eating, so it's time to go! -

MichiganChic replied to No game's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
*sigh* Some days certainly are worse than others. I'm not sure which is more difficult.....being around people who are eating, or being left home alone with access to whatever. Both are difficult for me, but I'm a closet eater, so being along is probably more of a struggle. I understand where you are coming from. -
I don't think I can agree with your hypothesis, respectfully . I had no waiting period at all. Many of the people who regret it said they knew what they were getting into. Some just hate it, some had complications. Maybe that's why most people pass the psyche exam - because unless there is a glaring red flag, there might not be a way to tell who is going to regret it/succeed/fail. But since we are hypothesizing, I'd be interested in a regression analysis to see if there is a correlation between post op support and regret. Or better yet, comparison of post op time frame and level of regret, and compare the same subjects over time. Just some thoughts. Anyway, at the end of the day, I think those with regret are entitled to feel how they feel. I regret lots of things in my life, but I'm still ok anyway. Hopefully these people are, too.

Almost 4 months and stall... Advice.
MichiganChic replied to Pinkputter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think this is normal, and I doubt this is it for you, as long as you continue your program. You probably don't have much farther to go, so weight loss will slow down. I think your body can only lose so fast, and it needs time to adjust. Some people just lose slower than others, too. I'm about 4 1/2 months out, and I'm experiencing the same thing. I figure as long as we are following the rules of our plan, burning more than we are taking in, then we are doing all we can. I'm not very patient, but I just remind myself of that, and it gets me through the slow periods. I find I am losing about 2 pounds a week on average over the month, but it doesn't come off evenly. Others might suggest increasing water, protien, lowering carbs, etc. but I personally don't believe it makes much of a difference as long as we follow the basic rules of protein first, then vegetables, then starches. You know the drill. We are in this for the long haul! Hang in there -
Oh, I meant to say you can do it though my fitness pal. Once you have both accounts set up, going through there will allow you to choose the app you want to sync, then it will prompt you for passwords, etc.
-
You have to link the accounts. You can do it from your PC or mobile by going to the apps tab.

I am so sorry for your loss. Be kind to yourself as grieve the loss of your beloved mother - treat yourself like you know she would want. hugs.

Confused. Can we or cant we..?
MichiganChic replied to mrsreyes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I drink coffee every day, have since about 6 weeks. I never have carbonated beverages, probably never will, or at least it will be minimal and rare No alchohol for 1 year, Should avoid candy, cake and junk slider foods, there is no nutritional value and will not help with weight loss. Those are the rules of my plan. I do think I plan on living a normal life, and while I never plan to make a habit of them, I think an occassional treat is fine. -
Yep, that's a great problem to have! I'll never be as good/dedicated at you. I'm too old for that intensity, lol. I agree, I think you might find yourself fatigued due to low caloric intake. You don't have any stores to pull from, my friend....you are thin!! I FULLY understand and agree with your philosophy. You worked very hard to retrain yourself and it goes against the grain to do something different than what brought you such success, right? I imagine you could find ways to sneak a few more healthy calories in there without eating a lot. Maybe look at adding some healthy fats, a few nuts, or something that meets with your personal dietary preferences. I love your drive to be an athlete. I just want to be healthy, fit old woman ;P
-
Sorry that was so miserable I probably wouldn't count it then. Bet you won't be eating that combo for a while!

I'm throwing away my granny panties! (and other panty victories)
MichiganChic replied to Vidalia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations, those are great NSV! I noticed yesterday I can run up and down the steps to the basement with no problems, and it made me realize the same thing. It's wonderful to be able to move so much easier, and it is life changing and liberating!
