Any March Sleevers?
Sadtosaygoodbye replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Each Dr has their own specific plan, my Dr did not require a clear liquid diet either. Had surgery on the 4th and no problems. -

Weird "stuck" feeling going on right now
Sadtosaygoodbye replied to rxkid2384's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to agree with nsquared and MrsG. Take your time when drinking, when I have done this too fast that feeling stops me dead in my tracks. I have been trying hard to get in my fluids so I start rushing, not a good feeling. -

Sadtosaygoodbye replied to gelen's_change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was sleeved on the 4th, doing pretty good. The worst was day one, it's been smooth sailing since. The gas grumblings are a pain in the butt!! Started taking 3 20 min walks daily, life is starting to get exciting again. Congrats to all fellow March sleevers -

You will do just fine, had the surgery Monday, the first night was sheer terror, After that things have been smooth sailing!! I must admit it is difficult keeping up on my fluids, I feel full after a few sips. I am determined to be healthy and get this right. My mom is in town for the next 6 weeks to help with the kids, this has been a life saver(my husband loves coming home to mom's cooling also)Enjoy this time now, it's going to fly by. I am excited for all of your upcoming surgeries. -

When did u stip crushing ur meds?
Sadtosaygoodbye replied to newme31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am with you on this one also. My doc said I could crush them if I wanted to but he saw no reason for it. In the hospital I was swallowing them whole. -
Buckle up Buttercup, your'e in for one wild ride.
-
I don't know how that will affect your outcome. The nurse reviewing your case will have to make that determination. So what are you doing about your high cholesterol?
-
A co-morbidity is just that a co-morbidity, If it's on the approved list with documentation that you are being treated for it, no need to worry. The doctor should provide Anthem with information with the medications and treatments you are undergoing for these medical problems.
-
DrmBig4Evr, well wishes for you with your surgery tomorrow. Heatwhip Anthem BCBS guidelines are BMI of 35 with 2 co-morbidities or greater than 40.
-
My BMI was 38 with 2 co-morbidities hypertension and diabetes. I also have Anthem insurance through my husbands employer. I had absolutely no problems. I would call Anthem to see if your employer has any riders on your bariactric coverage. If your surgeon is following the guidelines with your particular employer and you meet these standards you should be good to go. Either way it is an anxiety filled process. Again good luck.

Having Surgery March 4th! A little Nervous!
Sadtosaygoodbye replied to cjloveydovey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know what you mean about feeling weird!! I feel hungry but a soon as I swallow OUCH! It is getting better but I just feel strange. I am staring at my bottle of water( I added flavor Dansani drops) feeling like I can chug the whole thing. Not!! After one sip I feel like I at a Huge Turkey Dinner, the sensations are just so weird so new. I call my mom the Warden, she makes me get up and walk, she keeps tabs of how much I am drinking. What's up with that, I still cant pull the wool over her eyes I happy to know that we can get through this together. Think in about 6 months we will be posting our before and after pics. Well I hope you continue to get better, gotta go drink some protein -
Sleeved monday
Sadtosaygoodbye replied to mattsbelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As my Mom says this too shall pass. My first day post op I cried and told my mother I regretted the decision, I said it in a moment of weakness due to the pain. Walk walk walk, cant say it enough. I am day 3 post-op and I feel GREAT!! I slept well last night because I finally got to sleep in my own bed. Hang in there it really does get better. -
Any March Sleevers?
Sadtosaygoodbye replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thought I would check in with you guys and girls, had surgery this past Monday. The first night was HELL!! Told the anesthesiologist dilaudid makes me extremely ill, needless to say he did it anyway. It took 24 hours to get it all out of my system. I didn't get home till late last night because I couldn't spend another night in the hospital, truly for me there is no place like home!! So far I am doing great, struggling to get in my fluids but I am getting there. Congrats to those who have been sleeved, and those who will be sleeved in the coming weeks. Can't wait to hear how you all did with this. Again Congrats to all March Sleevers -
Having Surgery March 4th! A little Nervous!
Sadtosaygoodbye replied to cjloveydovey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thought I would check in with you guys, things are going very well now. Just got released from the hospital late last night, Day one was TORTURE!! I told the anesthesiologist NOT to give me dilaudid it makes me severely nauseous/anxious and causes my BP to fly off the charts. Well when I woke up in PACU the nurse was saying push you PCA, that was a big mistake because it was dilaudid Needless to say that day was a big bust I puked till I couldn't puke anymore. They switched me to demerol and had me on larger doses of phenergan and zofran and also iv anti hypertensives. Today I feel like a Champ! I am still struggling to get in my fluids, but the Warden is in town to make sure that I do (My Mom) It's early but I am happy I made the decision to take control of my health, although I know it's not going to be easy I welcome this experience. Congrats to ALL of the March 4thers!! I hope you continue to have much Success!! -

Nurseghana, ballermom,Tammy61. Congrats on your successful surgeries!! I just returned home last night from the hospital, the first night was Torture!! I told the anesthesiologist to not give me dilaudid, it causes severe vomiting/anxiety and sends my BP off the roof. So needless to say when I woke in PACU heard the nurse say push the button, I did and I regretted it because it was dilaudid. I spent the first 24hrs sick as a dog, getting IV lopressor and vasotec. Thank goodness my mom was there to advocate for me, I tried to send her home earlier that day but she refused (Moms do know best). They switched me to demerol later that night and what a difference a day makes. I am feeling good, still trying to get my fluids in it's extremely hard for me but each day does get better. I am still early on in this process but so far this is one of the best decisions I have made. Good luck nurses who are soon to be getting sleeved, cant wait to hear your stories!! -

Good Luck Monday fellow March 4ther's!! -
laura-ven That was excellent advice!! I have to agree with you when people make that tired worn out statement " How lucky I am to have such a great man" WTF? Taking care of 4 kids and him, plus working full time isn't easy but I get the job done. He lets me know quite often how lucky he is to have me! I guess people think because my body changed from small to large, his love for me changed from large to small. You've made so many great points, again great advice!
