  1. my surgeon told me not to use my birth control for a month post op due to the risk of blood clots....
  2. All I can say is WOW at my preop appointment with my surgeon I was 274lbs and today I stepped on the scale I was 249lbs. My surgery was just over two weeks ago and I feel amazing. I go back to work tomorrow which is a little nerve racking because I know how important it is to get my water in and I'm a nurse on a busy med/surg unit, but I went from wearing a 3XL scrub to a 2XL scrub since surgery. I can't wait to wear scrubs that I haven't been able to get into in over a year. I can honestly say the worst part that I had was my first two days post op, other than that I have felt great. I'm excited to see what is going to happen as I continue my journey with my new sleeve and my new life....
  3. So excited I stepped on the scale this morning and I'm down 25lbs since my preop appointment. I was sleeved on 2/5

    100% covered with Kaiser

Kimkai I have Kaiser too make sure you don't have a copay or coinsurance because then you will have to pay that prior to surgery I ended up paying my $400 deductible and another $638 for my 10% coinsurance. Which I wasn't aware of until two weeks prior to my surgery....

I Can't Wait To Not Have To...

I have had the same issues and I love going on roller coasters I have actually had the ride attendants push on my chest harness so hard that they were doing push ups off my chest in order to get in latched....Very embarrassing I was sleeved on 2/5 and can't wait to be able to go on ride and not have that happen...

    "nesting"

I did the same thing this past Sunday because I had surgery on Tuesday, that way the house wouldn't drive me crazy when I got home from the hospital and then I wouldn't try to clean when I really shouldn't....

    February Sleevers

post op day 1 in the hospital and don't feel that day slight pain near my belly button but other than that I feel great, hopefully home this afternoon.....
  12. I would call your doctor before taking any more blood pressure medication. 80/50 is to low for your if you were 180/100 prior to surgery. Normally in the hospital doctor put parameters on blood pressure medications for nurses not to give the to their patients and it's normally SBP <110 or 100....

    Surgery is happening....

OMG, my surgeon now has everything they need from my PCP which means I will be having my surgery on Tuesday 2/5 at 11am....I'm excited and nervous and a whole big ball of emotion I don't know what to do. I started my journey a year ago and never thought this day would actually come and now my surgery is just a few short days away!!!! I still feel like people judge you when you tell them you are having weight loss surgery, I know I'm only 36 and that I shouldn't have some of the issues I have with my knees and my back. I'm a nurse I should know better RIGHT???? I think the last time I was under 200lbs was 17 years ago right after I had my son. I want to be able to walk up and down my stairs without hearing my knee crunch with every step. I'm still young RIGHT??? I want to be able to go to an amusement park and go on the roller coasters without having to have my boobs crushed in the harness (I have had people do pushups off my chest to close the harness.....) I want to do so many things including going to a normal store and buy cute clothes instead of having to pay through the nose for clothes that don't look like something my grandmother would wear.....I'm so ready for this surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Surgery is happening....

I only have to do 48 hours of clear liquids so I start my clears on Sunday (good thing my favorite football team didn't make it to the super bowl....lol) I went to my pre-op class tonight and it was all information that has been driven into my head for the past year. I'm just ready for Tuesday to come and get this journey really started..... Good Luck to all of you as well I'm sure we'll all do great!!!!!

    Surgery DAte

I went to my preop appointment today and I got my surgery date it's 2/5/13 OMG two weeks away..... I am a bundle of nerves and excitement right now. It is so close and after a year of going through nutrition classes and appointments I finally have the date. I'm trying to remember everything that I have read on here about things I need to make sure I bring with me and trying to remember that this will be so worth it once the weight comes off.....

Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

Hey all, my name is Kelly and I'm an RN on a surgical unit (med/surg but more surg then medical) I have been a nurse for 6 years and am getting sleeved on 2/5. I'm nervous about hydration once I get back to work because I know I don't drink enough now when I'm at work. I'm also nervous about having the surgery in cases like this I think ignorance is bliss. Our unit just recently started to care for sleeve patients post operatively and most do great others I've been only have had issues with nausea. I think knowing to much is getting my mind racing and I'm kind of freaking out knowing my surgery is a week away.....but I know that my surgeon knows what he is going I did alot of research on him before choosing but my nerves are still getting the best of me. Did anyone else have the same issue preop?

  18. Jan, awesome job at recovering from your addiction, I have faith in you that you will do great with your surgery and remember that this site is here for you and all of us so we can talk about our feeling and whatever we are thinking with no judgement and knowing that many of us have the same fears about surgery it should not be something that anyone goes into lightly surgery is a major step on helping us all become healthier.
  19. my surgeon states no caffeine for two weeks post op....
  20. Janice, my surgery is on 2/5 and I'm the same way I have to keep telling myself that this is the best thing that I can do for myself to make sure I'm around to see my grandkids someday (hopefully not for awhile, my son is only 17) but I want to be active and at the weight I am right now I can't enjoy life to its fullest because of my knees and back....
