You did this too?????????? Oh my goodness I have actually found someome who understands the process I am going through. Ok, what do you consider a small unfill? I have a realize band 9cc and there is 4.8cc's in it, I was thinking on removing 1/2 to 1 cc do you think that is too much or ? thanks so much

any suggestions from long time banders?? Please
luzin susan posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had my band since End of April of 07. I Started at 221 and now weight 162. I am a female and am 48 years old. I have 4.75cc in my 10cc realize band. So, on 11-19 I weighted 169. I now weigh 162 but in the last 6 weeks have not lost any weight. I upped my drinking of Water and my exercise but still on a plateau. I thought maybe I needed a fill so I got one but had to have it removed bc I couldn't even swallow a teaspoon of cottage cheese without pbing. I now PB at least 4 times a week and get a quick stuck feeling at least daily. I eat about 1000-1100 calories a day on average. I walk 90 minutes on a trail that goes up and down hill. I am so frustrated b/c I don't know if I should get another fill even though I choke or if I need to try something else. Have you ever heard of a plateau lasting this long? How do I know if I am at the right fill level? I eat an average of 50 grms of Protein a day. I do eat carbs often b/c they are easy to get down but my understanding is calories in, calories out so if this is true then I am doing ok. I wonder if my body is just comfortable at this weight and I am not going to lose any more or ? Any comments or like experiences you share with me would be so wonderful! I am so frustrated about what to do! thanks, Susan -

thanks to all for responding. I will try each thing one at a time and see which one works. Thanks for all the suggestions. They are all great and helpful! Sometimes you just run out of action when you get stuck in a plateau. I hope the surgeons are wrong and i can lose the rest! Susan -
Get stuck on a cheese omelette?
luzin susan replied to christasha's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
melted cheese really gets me and so do eggs so that is a double whammy for me. Anything gooey like cheese and I am in a PB. Even melted in Soup if it is heavily cheesy then I am pbing. I drink hot tea in morning which helps me to not pb in the morning and set the stage for all day problems. Good luck susan -

Thank you Karen,,,you are right, my carbs are too high. The loss came easy in the beginning so I guess i didn't feel like I had to do the high Protein thing but in truth it is something I should try. Now if I can just do it! Good luck with your banding and new life journey and thanks for taking the time to respond. susan -

Thank you for your suggestions. I will try them all!!! I am 5ft 5 inches and I am really needing to be around 145. What an amazing weight loss you have. 175lbs,,,,,,,,,,,wowowow People like you remind me that given time, the band will/does work! I appreciate your input and will put it to the test tomorrow,,it can't hurt and probably will help! At this point, I have nothing to lose trying all suggestions. I wonder sometimes if I should be eating more but then I read about others eating 800 cals or less and I think wow, I don't know if I could live on that amount! I don't even know if I should cause then I read about others eating 1500 to 1800 and losing. It sure is a guessing game even with the band, the difference being that we now lose and keep it off! Appreciate your input so much! Susan -

Jack, Thank you so much for your very positive input. I actually do not have a nutritionist as I got the band in Mexico but I do get the point. I am so grateful that you spent so much time responding. I have printed the info you sent me and I am going to evaluate each one. I feel more positive just reading your reply. It upped my spirits and made me think,,,my husband even read it and said , "see, maybe you are right where you should be for now". Congratulations on your success. It is good to see that someone who has had the band so long can still lose. I cannot imagine an 18 month plateau but hearing it from your prospective, albeit difficult to deal with, still looking at it from a successful viewpoint,,,that is amazing. I thank you for your help and positive way of thinking. Sincerely Susan -
This is so interesting, thanks for sharing it! I too get a runny nose and sneeze,,, susan

I am so confused and discouraged this evening. I did my BMR and found out that I should eat 1426 calories a day to MAINTAIN my weight! In order to lose 1 lb a week, I would have to cut it back 500 calories a day which is 926 and to lose 2 lbs a week, I would have to eat a mere 426 calories a day! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? I haven't loss more then a few lbs in the last 6 weeks or more and I am frustrated. I tally my calories and average about 1200 a day and now I find out that it has to be so much lower and I already think I am barely eating,,well not barely but nonetheless truly eating light in comparision. I can't imagine cutting back this much is healthy but can this be true?? It says you have to cut back 500 calories a day (3500) a week to lose l lb. Well this is crazy! I am 15 lbs from goal weight and not budging and I don't know what to do! I know I don't exercise like I should but this is very confusing. Some sites say at least 1200 calories a day to be healthy and then the BMR site says this??? Any input please!!! Since 11-10 I have lost 6 lbs none of which were in the last 5-6 weeks. HELP! Thanks to all Susan :whoo:

difficulties with knowing what to do
luzin susan replied to luzin susan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for all your replies. I walk up and down hill 4 miles today and I will exercise 4 days a week and see what happens. I know this is what i need to do,,it is just self sabatoge. I have gone from 221 to 161 with too much exercise. I was eating about 900 a day during that weight loss. I can't seem to eat down to that now. I am going to give it more effort and thank you all for your support! Susan -
I have thyroid disease as do many overweight people and also all other segments of the population. I got banded any way and I have lost 63 lbs in 8 months. I am 15 lbs away from goal and I am really struggle to lose the rest but not b/c of my thyroid, it is because I am not doing everything I need to do. I got too comfortable. Now I am not and I am ready to lose again. It can be done with hypothyroidism of any kind. It works if you work it! I and many others with bands will tell you that it worked for them. Don't let it stop you,,,,you just eat right for thyroid and less of that right food with the band and wham. Thyroid makes it go a little slower but it still goes. If you are on a steady medication for it and levels are good, it should not effect the band. Good luck Susan

I am in Ahwatukee. Where are you? I am doing great! Your hunger will leave you once you get filled! Just don't worry about it until then and eat carefully. I have lost about 33lbs so far,,,,it was hard when I wasn't filled but hard when I am too! I just went to Mexicali and got my 3rd fill and now I have 6 ccs in my band (10cc sagb) and I really feel the restriction now! Be patient,,,it will work for you! If you want to call me you can send me a private message and we can connect that way! I am so happy with my weight loss thus far and I know it will be ok for you also as I was really concerned about the hunger too! You are in your first stage of eating and I have some good ideas for you! Let me know!! hugs to you and hang in there Susan

Varja, I am so sorry this journey has been so difficult for you! Reevaluate your eating,,,,do you eat to little? Do you eat to much? Do you drink liquids while you eat or right after? Do you choose health food? Are you getting enough Protein? Those kinds of things can make a big difference! If you can't walk then move around a lot! Even sitting and pushing arms in and out helps or moving legs like a bicycle around and around without standing on your feet! Did they do a flouro on you to see if the fill is staying in the band? Is it positioned right? I would really be talking long and hard to your Dr. Good luck Susan

hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa THIS WHOLE THREAD IS TOO FUNNY!!!!!!!!!! TEEHEE, ROTFLMAO, LOL, GIGGLE GIGGLE, SNICKER SNICKER,,,,,,,HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA -
I don't think that a cup to 1 1/2 cups is too much personally! I am going for my 3rd fill and I can eat just about anything ,,,including bread! I figure it will work at some point where I am not hungry but for now,,,1 cup or so is ok! I am losing too so if you are losing then that is what matters~

Confession: I WANT a fill, but probably don't need one.
luzin susan replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
:whoo:
wow that is me too! I seem to lose when I get the fill for a few weeks and then I stop losing for the most part! I am up 2lbs actually from eating richer food on our trip! I can eat a lot more then a few weeks ago so I am back for a fill this Sat. with my friend! I feel very discouraged right now as I have been going back and forth from 187 to 190 and it is really making me frustrated. I am staying at no more then `1200
a day but it seems that I cannot drop,,,I usually eat around 900 a day and I exercise (walk 2-3 miles everyother day) so I am doing something wrong I think! Good weight loss so far but didn't even lose weight on my last fill 3 weeks ago! FRUSTRATING,,,and I feel hungry more then usual like I was on Weight Watchers and got off track and struggling now kind of feeling which I am not supposed to feel with the band! So time for a fill I guess!:clap2: Thanks for your sharing it feels good to not be alone in this Susan -

hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I didn't think about the calories,,,,hahahhaha but I don't think that a few teaspoons of 5-7 calories a piece is gonna "make you fat" hahahhahaaaaaaaaaa so I say GO FOR IT! hehehhe too funny -

Celeste,

I find your post extremely helpful and informative! Knowing that although it took you months and months, you kept losing and kept it off! That is what I needed to hear! I also am grateful to hear about the 1000 a day and the exercise pattern! I don't think I could walk like you have but I will continue to increase my walking as I lose (I have really bad heals that cause me alot of pain) For now 3 miles is it everyother day so that my feet can rest! I starting walking one mile 10 weeks ago so that is a great improvement! I guess I have lost rather quickly ( in the beginning) but it has slowed down quite honestly and that is why I needed to ask someone at my weight level who has achieved ":MY goal" weight so to speak! Your life sounds very interesting,,thank you for sharing.

Susan

217/187/145

road queen, I am wondering how long it actually took you to get to your goal weight. I weighed 217 when I started and it has been 10 1/2 weeks since my banding and I have gotten down to 188lbs. I go up and down from 187 to 189 to I think since 187 is in the morning I can figure I have lost 29-30lbs now! I have to say that the last few weeks I haven't done well and I have already had 2 fills in my 11 cc band,,I now have 3.9 cc's in it! I am going to get another fill end of this week! I can eat a good cup of salad or so and a whole hamburger patty with pickle, onion and tomatoe for dinner pretty comfortably,,,I am also noting that i eat faster then in the beginning. Again, I was wondering how many calories you ate and how long it took you to lose! I exercise every other day 2 1/2 miles walk (at least) and I eat approx. 800 to 1100 calories a day depending on the day! I have noted this last few weeks that I have been eating on the higher end of that scale! I had a fill 3 weeks ago,,so? You are at my goal weight and I have to hear all,,,,please! Thanks Msusan
