    4 1/2 weeks post op!

Im just a little over a month out. Im down a total of 35 pounds, my clothes are too big. I feel AMAZING!!!! This was, by far, the best decision I have ever made. I was nervous, obviously, but I have not had one complication since my surgery date on March 21st. I stayed in the hospital only one night, when home the next day. Getting fluids in was tough, but not impossible. I had NO pain or nausea at all. Each day became better than the day before. By day 7 I was virtually back to my old self. I think the nutritionists prepare you for the worst case scenario, which I thought may happen to me. But I had no adverse effects. No problems, no issues. I continue to feel well, I am noticing changes in my body, and people are starting to notice my weight loss. If you are ever struggling with the choice of what to do? Please contact me. I could not be more happy.

    am I being naive? ?

Well said. I didnt feel like I needed to "justify" my reasoning to anyone.....

How late were you after surgery?

I got my period literally 3 days post surgery. However, your body has gone thru quite a bit. The fact that its a little late is not entirely unusual. Take a pregnancy test just to reassure yourself, but my guess would have to be that everything is ok. Just the hormones trying to straighten themselves out

    am I being naive? ?

Its a very personal choice. There is no wrong way to approach it. I, personally, only told a handful of people. The reason I didn't tell people, is because I did not want to listen to their attempts to talk me out of it. My mind had been made it and honestly, I wasnt going to try and convince anyone why I felt this was the best thing for me. Family and friends will have their opinions, mine certainly did. Some were supportive, some told me I was "taking the easy way out". I just didnt feel like listen to anyone tell me ALL the reasons why surgery was the wrong way, when I clearly knew it was the best for me. Thats my choice. That was my reason. The people who know about my surgery, have been incredibly supportive. Maybe down the road I will tell more people, but honestly, I dont feel the need. You do whatever you feel is best for you. There is no wrong way. Good luck to you
  12. Im 5'9 and my starting weight was 275. Ive lost 30 pounds total and my surgerits y was March 21st. I don know your age, but Im 35 and have "youth" on my side, according to my surgeon. Once you can, start weight training. They say thats the best way to prevent lose skin. Good luck with your surgery. I actually found everything to be a breeze, no nausea, no vomiting, tolerating everything really well.
  13. Im 6 days post op as well. Feeling amazing. Make sure you are walking a little bit each day to help with the gas. And go get some gas-x strips, Ive heard they help alot. I only had gas the first day and have gotten progessively better each day. My only complaint is some soreness at my incisions. Keep up the good work, it DOES get better. Drink your fluids, get your protein and keep your eye on the prize!!

    What happens at this appointment?

Yes, insurance typically covers all those costs. To see what costs you may incure, if any, for surgery.....
  17. Hi there! Welcome aboard! We about the same, I too am 5'9, weighing 272 pounds. Call your insurance company and see what they cover. Some companies will make you go thru a 6 month monitored weight loss, but they will cover the initial meetings, so you can call and get all those things started in the meantime. If you live in Mass (Like I do), all insurance companies cover the surgery, but again, there are a few that require 6 months of monitored weight loss first. Ask lots of questions! You are going to hear alot of good, positive things. You will hear some not good things. In my opinion, the good far out weigh the bad. but you have to make your own decision. This forum is filled with people who have been where you are and want nothing more than to help!!! Good Luck!!!

    My First Appointment

hahaha, dont I know it! If they dont have any cancellations, maybe they'll get so sick of your phone calls and just create one for you so you'll stop calling. Either way, thats a win!

    My First Appointment

That stinks Nikki. As an insider secret, try calling the office on a weekly basis to see if they've had any cancellations that you could squeeze into. At least you have the existing appointment now if nothing pans out, but if it does, you'll be in there sooner than expected! Good luck
