Telling people at work
msreaina replied to littlewing1203's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a touchy subject but you don't have to explain yourself. You can just leave it at you are on a private medical leave. Personally I never told anyone but I didn't take 6 weeks off. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and went back to work Friday so it wasn't noticeable. It's up to you at the end of the day. -
Always hungry.... i think something is wrong.... Please help!
msreaina posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't been on here in a few months but I had a problem that came up and I decided to come to you guys. I always seem to get the best answer here from people with the gastric sleeve as me. Well here we go... For the last month I have been hungry all the time and if I do not eat I get weak and light head. The hunger hits me every 2 to 3 hours. This is unusual for me. I feeling I am eat way too much. This is scary to me because I gained 8 pounds from this issue even though exercise daily. I really don't know what to do here. I took pregnancy test and I am not pregnant and this is really worrying me. I wondering do I need appetite suppressants now like adipex? Is anyone else experiencing this or is there anyone out there with suggestions? HELP PLEASE!!! Thanks in advance sleevers!!!!! -

I think I may be reflux or it could be the hypoglycemia because I do get weak, light headed and the rapid heart beats. I don't take anything for reflux but maybe I should start there. Hopefully that helps. -
Surgery tomorrow 12/3
msreaina replied to Joymarie333's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given lortab (liquid) to go home with but I took it when I got home and my face and lip began to swell then I ended up right back in the hospital. The pain isn't bad so don't worry. Well it wasn't bad for me I only took the lortab because I was scared there would be pain. But after refuse to take anything else I realize it was bad at all. I went back to work 2 days after surgery. -
Who is scared to give up food?
msreaina replied to smile121's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Food was my everything too. But as I have learned I was using food as a filler to fill voids and gaps in my life where I felt things was missing. I think a lot of us had or have that problem. That is the reason we are overweight. Giving up the love of food to live a healthier prolonged life is much more satisfying at the end of the day. WLS saved my life and I would not turn back the hands of time. I would do it over again in a heartbeat. The only thing I can't do is share my story with people outside this website because they don't under especially if they are not overweight or have been overweight. After WLS success is the only option and you will learn to love and accept eating smaller portions. -
I am nearly two years post op and still having dumping issues when I eat some foods. Is anyone else having these same problems? When will it go away or will it always be a problem after gastric sleeve surgery?

Dumping syndrome after nearly 2 years
msreaina replied to msreaina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yea it's usually anything sweet. It could just be that my stomach can't handle sweets anymore. I am not sure. I have not been to the doctor in about 5 months so I have not asked my doctor about it. I think it is one of those things that is a curse and a blessing at the same time. I am hesitant when it comes to eating or drinking anything with sugar. -

Never Been Normal Size In My Whole Life...
msreaina replied to downsizingdiva's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I been there and it's was scary thinking I will be normal size. Just like oh my I can't shop at a normal store and not the Avenue and Lane Bryant. It amazing to know that you body will change long term. Embrace your change it will make you fall in love with you all over again -
I was terrified to get rid of my old clothes. Believe it or not I continued to wear my too big clothes because I did not want to buy new one because I just knew I would need them again. But once I realized I wouldn't need them anymore it was a relief to get rid of them I did keep one pair of pants and one shirt to remind me of where I do not want to be again.

Sounds great may have to try this

Going back to work, what do I say?
msreaina replied to tfarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You don't have to tell them if you don't want to. I told everyone I drank a lot of protein shake was on a liquid diet cut back on what I ate and walked and exercised as much as I could. Which that is not a lie I just failed to mention my new tool that I love so much. But it's up to you on how and what you decide to disclose. -
I have Caffeine daily. I have to have my coffee to get my day started. I just do not use any pure sugars. My body doesn't care for sugar anyway it makes me sick so I use two to three packets of Splenda or sweet and low as a substitute. The sugar and caffeine maybe way you should have it because most people load their coffee with sugar.

I had that same addiction diet coke is all I drink each and every day. You will have withdrawal well I have Caffeine headaches but you can make it through those headaches I did. They are only a minor milestone.

what to order in a restaurant.. Should I even go?
msreaina replied to maria88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well if you are going to go. I would suggest any soups or soft foods. I was not big on eating carbs for the first few months but if they work for you i say go for it. I personally would ask the waitress what they use to cook certain foods. Also soft baked fish is also good at your stage if they serve that at the restaurant you are going to. Remember always ask questions because it your body and your money so ask on. -
stall at 2 weeks out?! help!
msreaina replied to DgotSleeved's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stalls are normal I hit many of them myself in the beginning don't worry the stall will break. If possible walk a few extra minutes. Drink you fluid and protein. This is Just The Beginning.
