mlecompte got a reaction from Kalimomof3 in I Want To See Before & After Pics!
We have very similar stats, my starting BMi is 41 and I am only 5'0. You seem like you are a pretty fast loser, well definitely not a slow loser, I'm afraid I will be because 40 isn't a super high BMI (I know it isn't low either though) Can I ask what type of diet/ foods you mostly eat and what type of exercise you do?

mlecompte got a reaction from getlownurse in Newbie here, how did you all pay for surgery? Finance?
I understand when you are ready to have surgery you are just ready…because I am! I am a teacher so I have to get surgery this summer or else I will have to wait an entire year again to get it! I have been trying to go through this process with insurance for over 2 years now and I have decided I am just going to go to Mexico. I am getting a raise this year so I will be able to afford the payments. I would rather finance the surgery now and just make payments every month rather than try to save and save and save, plus if I have the extra money to save then I would end up spending some of it…because thats how I am. So I also have bad credit because my husband was laid off a year and we were struggling with paying things on time, but he has had a job now for 2 years and we have been paying things on time but it take a long time to get your credit built back up. I didn't even qualify for personal loan through a bank and I didn't have a co-signer either. So I will be using Medical financing. Yes they are charging me a fee of $995 but it is worth is to me. My surgery expense is $5200, plus the $995. My loan is interest free for one year though, so of course I will try to pay it off before then but if I don't I'm ok with that also. If I just pay on my loan the entire time by the time I pay it off the cost will be $7500, plus the $995 I had to pay in fees, so about $8500 total. This is a completely reasonable amount to me. If I was trying to have surgery here in the US it would be about 20k. Some places in MX cost $8500 just for the surgery. I am going with my first choice of surgeon and I did not base this on the cost. So like I said IF I take the entire term to pay off my loan plus the $995…it will only cost $8500…totally worth it to me!

mlecompte got a reaction from MarieAR in Going to Mexico!? Ahhhh
Ok I'm going to be sitting down with my parents and asking them for the $$ really soon, there is a good chance they would let me borrow the money...but I'm afraid they are going to flip out when they hear it is in Mexico and then tell me no way... What would be the best thing to show them, to tell them....??????????????

mlecompte got a reaction from Dana Tumblin in Mexico and financing?!?
Long story short, my insurance approved my surgery..then 7 days before my surgery they denied it. This happened 2 weeks ago…trying to get over it but still determined to have this surgery. Does anyone who went to Mexico know if it is possible to use any type of financing or anything like that, I say mexico because I know it is about less than half of what it costs here in the US.
If anyone has information on financing for here in the United States that would be great as well…about how much would you think someone would need to finance in the US?

mlecompte reacted to O.T.R. sleever in So many Dr's in Mexico!…help!
My recommendation would be to check out dr. Ponce de leon. He operates out of the INT hospital in TJ Mexico.
I will be the first to admit, I am a bit partial to him & Trish. They took great care of me. There are many highly qualified surgeons in Mexico, & I don't regularly give recommendations, but with what you said you wanted, I believe Dr. ponce de leon best fits what you want. Granted, he is not the lowest priced surgeon in Mexico, but his rate is more than fair.
One thing you need to consider is your coordinator. Trish is the only one I know that is actually there when you arrive, helps you get settled in, makes sure you are well served while you are in Mexico, and even checks on you after you get home (I still hear from her after 11 months).
With Dr. Ponce de Leon, you can expect, a highly competent surgeon, 2nights in the INT Hospital, 1 night in the Lucerna hotel (2nd nights are available if requested), the nicest resort hotel in TJ. And don't forget, Trish, she makes this whole thing so much easier. Last I checked his rate was still $5500.

mlecompte got a reaction from @RealScoobyDoo in Post op march sleevers
Has anyone written a letter/letters to loved ones, incase something were to happen during surgery?? I am a mother of three young children and started a letter to my husband and children just explaining exactly why I am having the surgery and how much I love them and everything like that. I know that this may seem like a terrible adea to some...I almost feel like I am going into it with bad expectations, but in all reality I don't feel like that at all, I honestly feel that God knows it isnt my time to go because he knows how much I need my family and how much they need me aswell, so he wouldn't take me from this at this point in time. ok, now I just sound crazy right? haha. Well I just couldn't stand the thought of something happening to me and not having something like this for them.

I'm a March Sleever! March 28th. I was very happy with my decision and set to go, but I was a little nervous this weekend when I heard about the passing. I know there are risks and I'm trying to stay positive. Good luck to all March sleevers. We can do this!

mlecompte got a reaction from cas in Any March Sleevers?
Hi everyone! I I have a surgery date of March 28... I am a teacher and will be doing it the day before my spring break so I have 12 days before I return to work. My ultimate goal weight is 130. I am 5'0 and 200lbs right now...my bmi is about 40. Everyone keeps acting like I am not overweight enough to have surgery but I have seen so many people with lower bmi's than mine that have had the surgery done. I am just ready to be at a healthy weight and live a healthy long life with my three kiddos.. Without always battling my weight. I have told my husband obviously. Also my parents my best couple of friends and my 1st grade team at school. I don't think I plan on telling much more people but if questioned it isn't something I would deny. Well we should all keep in touch since we will all be sleeved around the same time!

mlecompte got a reaction from sastexan4u@yahoo.com in Unflavored Isopure?
I have heard that a lot of unflavored protiens are not really unflavored. Does anyone use unflavored Isopure I met one lady who says she puts it in everything and can't taste it...therefore she is adding protien to almost anything she drinks and even into yogurts and other puree like foods. It is rather expensive and I didn't want to buy it unless I really think it is unflavored. I am thinking about adding it into crystal light and other Clear Liquids but not sure how well that was going to work???

mlecompte got a reaction from rosehips in Guide me...
I was highly disappointed when I met with the nutritionist and she told me I couldn't take Iron and Calcium together. I thought I would just wake up and take a bunch of Vitamins everyday nit that I would have to take them 3-4 times a day to get enough calcium and iron and for them not to be taken together plus a Multivitamin plus Biotin plus something else. Could people please reply with exactly what you take and when in the day.

How long is everyone taking off of work? How painful is recovery? I can be kind of a baby but I have had a c-section and 2 other births.. I also have 7 tattoos... And tmi but have had hemmriods cut off after having one of my babies... Just trying to think of painful things I have gone through... Oh I have also had a breast augmentation... Sooo wonder what the pain of this recover will compare to... Do you think it is realistic to go back to work 10days after surgery? I am a teacher... Which doesn't require a lot of activity just standing/walking a lot.
