Katherine started following Slip symtoms, what is slime and pbing?, Does anyone panic? and and 7 others
-
Slime is what the esophagus produces to lubricate food to pass through. If something gets stuck, then there is an overproduction of this fluid----it's a mess to deal with, thick and..slimy. PB--like others have stated, is bringing up the food that won't go through the stoma. Good Luck on your 3rd fill!

I don't panic, I just have to wait it out; sometimes it'll come right back up, other times it's all about the slime which is more annoying to me than actually pbing because it lasts much longer.

I went to Dr. Verboonen in TJ--great surgeons but not so good with follow up care. The front desk called to see how I was doing, well I told them about somethings I was experiencing, no dr called back offering info as to what might be going on--nada. Make sure you have a dr lined up for your fills if you don't plan on going back to MX every time for a fill or if other things come up. Good Luck with everything!

How often do people need to buy new clothes?
Katherine replied to bsimoes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems like I get into a new size every 10 lbs I lose, I've gone down 7 sizes since Feb. -
LOL@ hurlchups---I think you are experiencing productive burps=PB. Drink slow and see if this helps with your new stomach and sensitive esophagus. Congrats on getting banded!
-
HI Lorna, congrats on getting your date, June 6th will be here before you know it! You can do the liquids for a week, it's not too hard---I had to do them for 12 days! Good Luck with everything

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?

Yes, 14 days of liquids! I lost 15lbs -
Mexican Bandsters- Need Advice
Katherine replied to isabelle290's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Isabelle, My TJ surgeon trained the prestigious wls dr in my state to do lap bands(she charges $40k he charges $8k). Unless someone is seeking alternative medical care in another country, chances are they are unaware of how safe and skilled the surgeons are, so it's easier to succumb to stereotypes for a kneejerk reaction. Overweight friends, who we think would be the most understanding for our desire to lose weight can sometimes sabbotage our goals for wls; they might feel insecure about the changes we'll be going through and consequently, leaving them to remain overweight as we successfully lose the unwanted lbs. Do what you gotta do, you'll be fine, good luck on getting banded!! -

Katherine replied to Susan3343's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Susan----LOL...oh you're making me laugh, I had the same thing going on here. I've since dropped 4 sizes, but was stuck in the same size pants for a while thinking----wth did I look like before....you gotta work with what you got! -
Bandchick---my son loves Newberg's skatepark, I'm out there a lot. Hit me up with any q's you might have, I just might have an answer
-
I went to MX for my lapband. The cost has only recently come down for self pay in the states---better late than never!

Here's a cause of band slip that surprised me: a friend was in a car accident, the force of the impact caused her band to slip. Unfill didn't do anything to correct the slip and unfortunately she's having the band removed.
