    Visitors in the hospital?

I wanted no visitors. My roommate had visitors who were so loud and inconsiderate. She was discharged that evening and left her TV on. i had to ask the housekeeper to turn it off. then I got a roommate during the night. her daughter came in early in the morning and talked loudly about nonsense...who came to see you..are the nurses mean... OMG I hardly slept at all. I was miserable in the hospital due to lack of sleep. Finally went home the next day and was able to start recovering!
  3. My first week post op my focus was 40 oz of protein and 48 oz water. I drank one Isopure daily and as much water or broth as i could. i am 3 months post op and I use MFP daily. My only focus is 60-80 gms of protein protein and 64 oz. of water. I believe in keeping thins simple! I've lost 42 lbs and feel great!

    Really disgusted

I work in a recovery room and we do lots of Bariatric procedures. Last year I mentioned I was thinking about VSG and I couldn't believe all the negativity. "You don't need anything that drastic" "Don't mutilate yourself" etc...Then they started talking about all the different hospital employees who had the surgery and how they weren't fat enough for it and they shouldn't have done it. Well I learned to shut my mouth real quick. I dropped my insurance so I was able to use my husbands insurance. I saw my surgeon in January, has the surgery in April. My husband, 3 children (14, 20 & 22), my brother and his wife are the only people I told. When asked I tell them everything I'm doing..water, protein, calorie restriction. Then I change the subject!
  5. Vix- so glad your temp came down but also keep any eye on your heart rate. Take your pulse when you are resting comfortably for a few minutes. It should be under 100. Temp and high heart rates should be an alert to call your doc. I also had that gurgling in my tummy but after a week it slowly slowed down. Once in a blue moon I feel it slightly and I'm 3 months post op now.
  6. My NUT recommends unsweetened almond milk also. Less sugars. I'm surprised how good it tastes too! Lately I've been mixing my shakes with just water. I love the lemon tea but I need to mix 1 scoop of nectar lemon tea with 1/2 packet of crystal light lemon tea with 16 oz. water and lots of ice. Very refreshing!

    Snack

Love love love turkey jerky! My favorite snack. I have to hide it from my 14 year old son!
  9. Give yourself a break, you are doing great! Don't compare yourself with others. Your starting weight was low so you should expect to lose slower than someone whose starting weight is double yours! You are going in the right direction and you should be proud ????
  10. Surgery on 4/12, SW 252, CW 209.8. I feel heart, can eat anything in small amounts. I rarely have rice or pasta. When I do, it's maybe a tablespoon or a few forks worth. Haven't had bread yet. I just don't miss it or crave it. I get 60-80 gms of protein in, and do my best to get 64oz of water in and 800 calories. I don't worry about fats or carbs for now. All that is advice from my NUT. I have never felt better!

    bougie size?

I recently asked the hospital for a copy of my medical records and that's how I found out my surgeon used a 40. There is no doubt I have restriction and I'm down over 30 lbs in 8 weeks, so there's no complaints here! Plus, I feel better knowing the larger the size the less chance of complications!

    Something in my sleeve....

When they did the endoscopy, did they biopsy the area?
  13. I usually stick to protein shakes for breakfast since I get up at 5am for work.
  14. I have not told anyone I work with about my surgery. I work in a recovery room and I hear how judgmental my co-workers are, especially the thin ones who never had a weight problem. I feel like I act as an advocate, defending our patients decision! I can't image having this surgery, yet criticizing people who have had it. She's a sick, sick person who needs lots of counseling. I'm sure she lied on her psych eval!
  15. I noticed that I burp quite often since being sleeved. I take Nexium every morning and I don't have pain or acid reflux it anything like that. I don't drink with a straw and I follow the 30 minutes before and after meal rule. Anyone else have this problem?
  16. Surgery 4/12, 245 lbs Today, 213 lbs 32 lbs in 8 weeks I'm very happy with my progress but every once in a while I find myself munching on Doritos or some other junk food. The good news it's not half the bag like it used to be, just a serving! So I log it into MFP and move on.

    wearing a bra after surgery?

I wore a cami for several wools post op. it supported the girls just fine but also gave a little support to my belly which made it easier to get around
  18. I'm 8 weeks out now and feel differently than when I first responded to this thread. 8 weeks ago I was still reeling from the shock that my spleen bled during surgery and I could have bled to death on the table. I've lost 31lbs since then and I have never felt better. It has been most definitely worth it for me. I need to feel that restriction otherwise I know I will over indulge. I could never have gotten this far on my own!

    back to hospital!

I'm so very sorry for everything you have gone thru. Complications are so very real and we need to be aware of that! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
  21. The key to my sanity....weighing in only once weekly!
