Lots of pain almost 1 month post-op HELP
Southern Gal replied to Samantha227's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one week out and have no pain. This much pain almost one month later could be a sign of other issues. I don't think this is normal. Please call your doctor ASAP. -
1-7-12 surgery today

I am taking omeprazole and has made a world of difference, I feel great now 9 days out! -
Have a HIDA scan done. If your ejection fraction is low and the pain is reproduced with Kinevac, which is administered during the HIDA scan, you could have cholecystitis. You can have this with or without gallstones. I've heard it is extremely painful. ???? Good luck!

I'm right there with you :-(. -
My doctor prescribed Zofran and that really helped. I also used a nurses trick of sniffing an alcohol wipe. Thankfully, I never actually through up and the nausea passed by day 4. It WILL get better. Keep your chin up :-)

Searching for encouragement

I was just responding to your post of "you just don't get it" regarding the drain. Just letting you know there is a valid medical reason for the drain. My family members have asked me to explain the whole drain thing because they aren't nurses so I am sure a lot of people have questions. The JP drain lays flush against the entire staple line of the stomach. You drink purple kool aid daily and if there is purple I the drain, then you know to go to the ER. I felt like it was a safety net. Didn't mean to offend....I thought you really didn't get the reason why. -

I was making a factual statement. It is ok if you are not in the medical profession and don't understand the clinical implications of not being cautious. I would just consider yourself lucky. -
That is so much food. I have friends that are 4 months postop and they can't eat half of that. I'd definitely talk to your dr. Good luck to you.

I work at a hospital and for those of you that have drains, you have a good doctor. This is how leaks are detected. I am having mine removed this week and can't wait! Personally, I would have to question a doctor who doesn't require a drain. -

Southern Gal replied to kelliteenor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery 1-4-13 and am having a hard time. Not throwing up but nothing seems to agree with me. I have some pain when I swallow. Getting down and crying today. My friends went through the same issues and are doing great. I can't wait to get to that point. Any advice? -
