Six Months later......94 pounds!
determined4 replied to determined4's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I try to eat as much protein as I can with every meal. I always eat that first. I do have an occasional bite of things that aren't that healthy, but for the most part I try hard. Im having a hard time getting all my liquids in. But with that said I was 295 pounds and now weigh 201, six months later. Only TWO more pounds to go till I am FINALLY under 200!!!! So excited. I also had thoughts of how long my life would be if the weight didn't come off. I lost my mother only a year ago to a heart attack. My dad the year before to cancer. Its been very hard. But I decided I deserve and my children deserve me to be healthier, and have a longer life. I have absolutely no regrets from this surgery! I owe my life to it. I feel so much better and have more energy. Its scary, all the unknowns, but at the end of the day I can honestly say this is the best decision I've ever made!!! Because there is no way I could have done this without it! -

Six Months later......94 pounds!

Just know no matter how terrible you feel the first couple of days.....or how hard the next few months will be, it is all WORTH it! And the being uncomfortable doesn't last forever! And stock up on Gatorade or Powerade! For the first few weeks I literally lived on it......only frozen though. I would put it in a cup and make it slushie, then eat with a spoon. To drink anything hurt, but I could eat it slushie and it didn't hurt at all! Popsicle's are a good thing! -
I am 6 months out from my surgery and I am down 94 lbs.!!!!!! I am completely AMAZED!!!!

8 weeks later and I'm down 46 pounds!!!!! I am AMAZED!!!! Feels good, that's for sure!!!!

Maybe that is a bit too much food right now and that's why you feel bad or hurt. I'm 5 weeks out and I could either do the cheese stick or the egg and mayo. And i'm not sure I could eat the entire egg! lol Just depends. And the cracker may be getting stuck, sometimes bread type stuff does that! Just suggestions =) Hope it gets better!

The pre op diet is hard. But you have no choice after the surgery; I lived off of popsicle's and frozen slushy powerade. Even water kinda hurt to swallow! But if it was frozen it went down no problem. My pre op diet was only 5 days. And I had broth, popsicle's, and gatorade or powerade to drink. -

See I know I'm getting very few calories but I'm afraid if I eat more I really want lose. But I'm sure it is just a stall. I mean I've lost 31 pounds in less than 3 weeks. My body is probably just trying to catch up with itself. I've read lots of people aim for around 800 calories and I know I'm not getting that. My fear ever since I decided to have surgery is that I'll do all this and still be fat forever. I simply can't imagine that it really will come off. So I keep thinking yep this is it, that's all you are going to lose!

So here it goes. I had surgery in Mexico so I don't have a nutritionist. But I have a friend that had surgery here and theirs said to eat 3 meals a day and no snacking. And try not to have protein shakes, to try and get their protein from food. Well I'm so confused. I haven't lost in a week, in fact gained 3 pounds! If I eat this way I'm not getting many calories or as much protein as most I see on here. So do you need a certain amount of calories to lose or not? And what about protein? How much?? Monday I will be 4 weeks out from surgery. I know everyone has different doctors but how many calories and protein do I need to lose? I'm panicked I won't lose anymore than this!

It was awful at first. I was very nauseated and it hurt to swallow water even! But now I am doing really good. Down 31 pounds and just trying to get my water in!

You look amazing!! Can you tell me about how many calories you take in each day? And about how many carbs as well? I hope to be this successful!!! Congratulations!!! -
Ok I have two questions........Do you need to take in a certain amount of calories for continued weight loss? I am 3 weeks out today and haven't lost in about 5 days, in fact I've gained. Figured I've been getting around 400-500 calories a day. My second question is.....Is it ok to mix the protein powder with milk or does it make you take in too many carbs and calories? Thanks for your input!

I'm just wondering if the vitamins you buy at Walmart are OK or do we need some kind of special ones? I take a sublingual b-12, calcium chews, iron you just swallow, and are flintstone completes ok? How many of those, just one like the bottle says? Thanks
