Six Months later......94 pounds!
determined4 replied to determined4's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I try to eat as much protein as I can with every meal. I always eat that first. I do have an occasional bite of things that aren't that healthy, but for the most part I try hard. Im having a hard time getting all my liquids in. But with that said I was 295 pounds and now weigh 201, six months later. Only TWO more pounds to go till I am FINALLY under 200!!!! So excited. I also had thoughts of how long my life would be if the weight didn't come off. I lost my mother only a year ago to a heart attack. My dad the year before to cancer. Its been very hard. But I decided I deserve and my children deserve me to be healthier, and have a longer life. I have absolutely no regrets from this surgery! I owe my life to it. I feel so much better and have more energy. Its scary, all the unknowns, but at the end of the day I can honestly say this is the best decision I've ever made!!! Because there is no way I could have done this without it! -

Six Months later......94 pounds!

Just know no matter how terrible you feel the first couple of days.....or how hard the next few months will be, it is all WORTH it! And the being uncomfortable doesn't last forever! And stock up on Gatorade or Powerade! For the first few weeks I literally lived on it......only frozen though. I would put it in a cup and make it slushie, then eat with a spoon. To drink anything hurt, but I could eat it slushie and it didn't hurt at all! Popsicle's are a good thing! -
8 weeks later and I'm down 46 pounds!!!!! I am AMAZED!!!! Feels good, that's for sure!!!!
-
Maybe that is a bit too much food right now and that's why you feel bad or hurt. I'm 5 weeks out and I could either do the cheese stick or the egg and mayo. And i'm not sure I could eat the entire egg! lol Just depends. And the cracker may be getting stuck, sometimes bread type stuff does that! Just suggestions =) Hope it gets better!

It makes my stomach turn!

The pre op diet is hard. But you have no choice after the surgery; I lived off of popsicle's and frozen slushy powerade. Even water kinda hurt to swallow! But if it was frozen it went down no problem. My pre op diet was only 5 days. And I had broth, popsicle's, and gatorade or powerade to drink. -
So here it goes. I had surgery in Mexico so I don't have a nutritionist. But I have a friend that had surgery here and theirs said to eat 3 meals a day and no snacking. And try not to have protein shakes, to try and get their protein from food. Well I'm so confused. I haven't lost in a week, in fact gained 3 pounds! If I eat this way I'm not getting many calories or as much protein as most I see on here. So do you need a certain amount of calories to lose or not? And what about protein? How much?? Monday I will be 4 weeks out from surgery. I know everyone has different doctors but how many calories and protein do I need to lose? I'm panicked I won't lose anymore than this!
-
See I know I'm getting very few calories but I'm afraid if I eat more I really want lose. But I'm sure it is just a stall. I mean I've lost 31 pounds in less than 3 weeks. My body is probably just trying to catch up with itself. I've read lots of people aim for around 800 calories and I know I'm not getting that. My fear ever since I decided to have surgery is that I'll do all this and still be fat forever. I simply can't imagine that it really will come off. So I keep thinking yep this is it, that's all you are going to lose!

15 more minutes and it will be time to rock n roll!!!! Yikes!!!!! =)

It was awful at first. I was very nauseated and it hurt to swallow water even! But now I am doing really good. Down 31 pounds and just trying to get my water in!

Ok I have two questions........Do you need to take in a certain amount of calories for continued weight loss? I am 3 weeks out today and haven't lost in about 5 days, in fact I've gained. Figured I've been getting around 400-500 calories a day. My second question is.....Is it ok to mix the protein powder with milk or does it make you take in too many carbs and calories? Thanks for your input!

What a 150 lb weight loss looks like...
determined4 replied to nikki82's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You look amazing!! Can you tell me about how many calories you take in each day? And about how many carbs as well? I hope to be this successful!!! Congratulations!!! -
I'm just wondering if the vitamins you buy at Walmart are OK or do we need some kind of special ones? I take a sublingual b-12, calcium chews, iron you just swallow, and are flintstone completes ok? How many of those, just one like the bottle says? Thanks

one week out n starting to worry
determined4 replied to butterflyjen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery was on the 4th and I'm having the exact problem! I want to eat some yogurt no fruit or cottage cheese or somehting soooo bad! It's true when I get a drink of something my stomach feels better and the hunger pains stop. But I want just one bite of something so bad! Funny just a few days ago, I thought ha I could do liquids forever and food did not appeal to me what so ever! But now that I'm feeling better, its a different story. Think I'll try some tomato soup and see if that helps hold me off of some mushy food! I wonder if we can have egg drop soup yet? I can't get my protein in either! They make me wanna throw up! Trying to last 6 more days then maybe some greek yogurt will help me get some protein and maybe a poached egg or avacado. -
I'm only 5 days post op but I have been freezing too! Already I've lost 18 pounds due to not being able to swallow good without pain and the first few days I had severe nausea. But I can't seem to get warm either!
-
First I want to start by saying thank you to everyone who helped/answered my last post. I literally felt like I was going to die! My surgery was on Monday evening and now today is Friday and I'm feeling better. The nausea is almost gone and I'm walking around good, soreness is getting better too! I just have a general feeling of tiredness. And that's what my question is. I know part of that tiredness is from not getting in my liquids and I"m getting dehydrated. So here it is.......Whenever I drink ANYTING, It goes down, then hits right above my ribs and I get this oh no its stuck feeling that hurts then after a little bit it goes on down. Did anyone else have that and when does it go away? I am so thirsty, but it literally hurts to drink when it gets stuck there! Popsicles are the only way I'm getting in fluid right now. And I know I would feel better if I was hydrated. But this is really a concern to me....surly it won't last forever RIGHT??!! It scares me to think it may never go away. Please tell me when you could drink normally and not cause pain, and no I do not drink too much at once, only tiny sips. Is it just because my stomach is still swollen and sore inside? Thanks in advance!

I was sleeved yesterday evening and even with 5 shots for nausea I have thrown up all evening night and day! This morning I can't even hold down one bite of crushed ice! When will it stop? I have feelings of regret already just from this =( I am miserable!

Is anyone else having surgery with Dr. Almonza in Tijauna Feb 4th? I'm so nervous, excited, and scared all at the same time!

I have a 6 and 12 year old too! As well as a 1 and 3 year old to chase....you would I would be skinny haha! But I know what you mean about not wanting to embarrass them. My 6 year old saw a man and said gosh mom he is even fatter than you! =( I tell you kids give you the truth even when they aren't meaning to hurt your feelings. But I just want to go to their ballgames and school and not be the biggest person there! -

Its nice! Its like spring time here. When I left home this morning it was 30 something degrees. I think I'm just scared of the unknown. Like I want this to be a huge success for me but I've tried so hard to lose so I'm afraid I'll do all this and not lose anything lol silly I know! And I'll be honest I am so hungry and I want Mexican food soooo bad! I guess I keep wondering will I ever eat and enjoy food again. Guess I wouldn't have this problem in the first place if I didn't love food! But I am still young with 4 kiddos and they deserve a mom that can keep up! I know in the end I'll feel much better!!! -

Thanks! I'm here in San Diego now. Came across the street from my hotel and got some soup broth to drink, because I am about to fall over! I am starving lol Its the best stuff I ever tasted! Probably because I haven't had anything all day from being on my flight. But I am so excited and scared, but I know this is the right choice. Just getting cold feet I guess. =)
