T'snewstart replied to Dallasgrl47's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have hit a stall and was sleeved in Nov. As well..... from what I understand this is pretty normal. I was told to increase my exercise and will do this soon. Just bought a treadmill that we just put together..... I walked for.a.little while on there today and will increase the minutes daily..... Will let you know if the stall breaks because of it.... -
Yes it is normal. At about the 4th month post op I began to experience a empty feeling.... Not the hunger I felt pre op..... The freedom is wonderful....

Does the sleeve cure your food addiction?
T'snewstart replied to Kcarr1120's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It helps.... my desires have changed. However, I do daily make the decision to eat healthy. For example I am aware not a lot of food fits.... So I eat healthy stuff first and am full before I eat all the healthy stuff. -
How exciting so happy for you!

Food sensitivities and JJ virgin diet
T'snewstart replied to K33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No food allergies.... just a huge change in taste.... I used to love certain foods before... and now do not care for them..... now that is a strange experience. I do hope you find a solution to this.my Dr. Insists on protein shakes...2 a day @ 30 grams a each shake .... every DR is different. My Dr says it's very difficult to get in all the needed protein w/o shakes. Our tummies are too small. -
Carbonation
T'snewstart replied to shelbyschroepfer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have friends that drink carbonated stuff with no problems. I don't because diet soda was a real problem for me.... I had a hard time giving it up. But that is just me... Remember this is your journey and you need to find what works for you. -

All I can do is reiterate that YOU are worth it! The investment in your health is worth every penny. -
Fleets suppositories worked for me within an hour. Hope you get relief soon. For me I lacked fluids. At 6 1/2 months post op I use a stool softener and clear and natural metmuscil (spelling)? Daily or my plumbing will not work. I drink over 70 oz of liquid daily so that is not the problem. My Dr says that this is very common for this type of surgery....

Help with decision!:)
T'snewstart replied to jmonique78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a friend that did the band.... she had nothing but problems and almost died of dehydration. She had slippage twice. Finally after a year the surgeon removed it. He then told her the sleeve would be best. All of this happened with her while I was going through the prep requirements for my insurance company to approve my surgery. So for me that was a easy decision. My friend lost her wieght but was miserable for a year. I did not want to live like that. I have had the same results with the sleeve in 6 months. It took her a year with the band. I have to remind myself to eat....she was always hungry. Ok.....sorry my answer is so jumbled ..... but I wanted you to know how my thought process unfolded..... Best Wishes in your decision.... -

Grocery shopping prep
T'snewstart replied to Phoenix79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stuck to a very small variety in the beginning. My taste changed so much. Lucky me I did not over buy. My surgeon warned me not to. I am so glad I took his advice. He said you can buy different things however, buy very small amounts. Boy was he ever correct in saying that. Sounds like you have plenty to get you started.! Best wishes! -
What kind of popcicles?
T'snewstart replied to heatwhip's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hhmmmmm ..... If those are messing with your stomach.... What type of drinks can you handle? Perhaps making your own Popsicles with diet snapple, crystal light or whatever drink you can tolerate will be a better option for you. -
Something *THIS* fat girl never thought she would ask...
T'snewstart replied to LipstickLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the first few months it will take time to reach "the goal" of 60 grams of protein a day. You will get there.... Have you thought of adding protein powder to you pudding also.... I also use pb2 powder (pb2 powder is basically powdered peanut butter with 85 % of the fatty oil & calories removed.) with pudding. At 6 1/2 months out I still enjoy the pb2 with pudding. You can find the pb2 at amazon.com and it is inexpensive. Hope this helps! -
Oh yeah it is normal..... You got this.... And for the majority of us it has been the best decision ever! There is a small percentage that do regret it...... However, for most of us within a few months our lives have improved so drastically. When i try to remember what I went through before the surgery becomes a blur.... Forgotten.....

Congratulations on your weight loss.... You sound like you are doing well! They way I see this journey is that it is not a sprint..... We are in a marathon....we need to pace ourselves for the long haul! Best wishes

The future.. What if im still "lazy"
T'snewstart replied to kailie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear what you are saying..... But, truthfully you will need to walk in the beginning. As you begin to lose the excess weight and your mobility improves even more you will surprise yourself! You will just begin doing things you could not comfortably do before.... Just because you can! Try not to worry about it.... Truly, the future is bright! Best wishes! -

Just had sleeve 19 May and no weight loss or bowel movement. Is this normal?
T'snewstart replied to Jamie Middleton's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I went 12 days after surgery before my plumbing started working.... I took milk of Magnesa, colace, drank warm prune juice & finally added a suppository (fleets) and it finally did the trick. I would not wait as long as I did. When I would call my surgeons nurse about the issue all she would say was you need more liquids. None of these remedies will work without the Fluid to help the plumbing work. I had a hard time getting in all my fluids at first. At my 2 week check up I was on the edge of dehydrated.... So with all the ability you have do your best to get in all the liquids you can. And walk that helps as well! Hope you have relief soon! -
Sleeved on Tuesday the 21st of May
T'snewstart replied to Lorraine_2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would suggest you call your Dr.S office and get some medicine for the nausea. If you already are taking something then try to stay hydrated. As nanasez has said..... I hope you have some relief soon. The first few weeks were the worst for me. The nausea went away after that point. Best wishes
