What does feeling full feel like to you?
T'snewstart replied to dandeegan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes it changes.... I used gas x strips to relieve the gas pain. Now it feels full. I am very aware when my sleeve is getting full. Now I am to the point I can judge about how many more bites I can eat. It does feel.funny sometimes while eating with others. I can eat one mini taco and feel.stuffed. all the while watch others eat 5 tacos to fill.full. that feels weird. You will be sensitive to your body... you will know. Best Wishes.. -
Frederick Flintstones new life
T'snewstart replied to frederick flintstone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good for you taking your active life back. I know what the statics are but they are not set in stone. When I had my surgery I had 168 lbs to lose. I am just under 10 months and have less than 40# to lose. With your drive to be active I am sure you will bust right through and reach your goal! You got this! Best Wishes Tina -
The infamous 3 week stall
T'snewstart replied to NTL44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my first stall lasted one week. I have had a few along the way. My latest lasted 6 weeks.... Yes 6 weeks. That being said every stall I have had I have lost inches. So it has been a good trade. As long as I stay focused on the over all goal I am good. When the stalls broke I honestly did nothing differently. I just figured my body needed a time to adjust. Hang in there the stall will break! Best Wishes Tina -
Whoo hoo congratulations that is a awesome victory!

Surgery a week apart
T'snewstart replied to emttina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should feel tons better a week out. Truth be known make sure you get in your liquids and you should be fine! Best Wishes for you both! Tina -
I am over 9 months out and still no lettuce. I do eat raw veggies... for some reason my surgeon says no lettuce for 1 year post op. However, I ate a hot dog at a party and dipped it in mustard (my sleeve does not like mayonnaise at all) no bun for me either. Bread .... I can only manage 1 bite of bread and that is it. I very rarely have bread. Mini corn tortillas go down fine. I will eat a corn tortilla maybe one time every 3 weeks. Amazing how much our life changes...

I lived off sugar free popsicles for a few weeks....

How awesome to realize that type of eating is not for you. I think we can all safely say we have been in those shoes. Now when ever I see a person or persons putting away food or drinks like that I say a prayer for them. I try to remind myself I was there less than a year ago... had bad eating and drinking habits right along with them. I hated when people judged me for being that way.... I remember how it felt.... So I do my best to not judge them. That being said .... I still feel that but keep those feelings to myself. Best Wishes Tina

You probably will not like this answer but stalls are normal. I would first make sure your eating and exercise habits have not changed. If they are the same then you body is just in a adjustment time. I have had several stalls. Some short and some as long as 1 1/2 months. The longest one was just recent and I had lost a lot of weight....I knew my body was adjusting. That being said I always lose inches during a stall on the scale. Try not to panic the scale will move again. Best Wishes to you...

What happens if you get the flu?
T'snewstart replied to rocknrollmama1980's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Before surgery I was given a prescription for anti nausea medication. It's been about 10 months since surgery. I have thrown up twice. Both times I had eaten meat that just did not agree with me. Once it was beef and other was pork. I just stayed away from it for a few weeks. Back to the question though.... sorry for rambling lol! The anti nausea medication really works... I imagine that would be the treatment when getting the flu.... -
each ins company is different... Kaiser ins gave me the option to take the sleep study home or do it there. I did it in the hospital because the appt. Was a month sooner if I did it in the hospital. I had my surgery date one month after seeing the surgeon. Best Wishes to you!

Going 6 weeks Post Op- plateauing?
T'snewstart replied to ktweet168's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have hit a few stalls along the way..... this last one was a long stall... it is true your body needs time to adjust. When I hit my stalls nothing had changed. My calorie intake was the same... what I was eating was the same. It is just a adjustment time for your body. With every stall I would lose inches. It helps to pay attention to that as well. Best Wishes! -
Should I get the Gastric Sleeve?
T'snewstart replied to shorobin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Sarah it took me years to decide on the sleeve... when I first considered wls surgery only the bypass was available.. when I heard about the sleeve it took me another couple years to have it done. This is a big decision... to give you some encouragement at my 5 month post op I had lost over 40 % of my weight.now at close to 9 months I am 47 lbs from my goal. I wanted to lose 163 lbs.... So if my math is correct Iam just 7 lbs shy of 75 % already. My surgeon says their expectations are 50 to 70 % loss In a 2 year time frame. Really the results are up to us and how we use the sleeve as a tool. I am not do extreme amounts of exercise either. I just make sure I get in 30 minutes of cardio 5 days a week..... mostly brisk walking. Trustme it's worth it... my life has completely changed.... it's really beyond words... best wishes on your journey.. -
5 weeks out can I have a drink?
T'snewstart replied to miangr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also going to say ask your Dr. Mine says no alcohol or caffeine period. Like in never. It amazes me how these surgeons differ in opinion. I have a friend that had the same surgery and at 5 weeks she was drinking wine..... This always seems to be a subject that is debated on this site .... best wishes on your journey.. -

Anyone have perminent case of hickups?
T'snewstart replied to Jenniferkatie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I have them after every meal. I hiccup once or twice and that is a sign I am done. My friends call it my built in alarm. When they hear me hiccup... the all say simultaneous she full.... it's become the norm now. I use it to my advantage... I know that is the time to push away the plate.... -
I take Centrum Chewable multi vitiman, B12 sublingual from costco, b1 (tiny pill) and calcium chews Costco brand. In the beginning any form of multi vitiman made me nauseated. For some reason at six months post op that changed. As bizarre as this sounds.... I could not tolerate plain Water either. It just felt like a lead wieght as I drank it. I had to flavor it with something. Once again at the sixth month that changed as well. Now I can drink plain water fine. Anyway...sorry I got sidetracked lol! Honestly, I would buy small bottles of different Vitimans and try them out. You will eventually find what works for you. For me this was the most difficult part of my experience. Once I was able to get that down I am good to go! Best Wishes Tina
