When did you start to feel normal again?
T'snewstart replied to popsicle_20721's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took about 8 weeks for me to "feel" life becoming "normal" now at 13 weeks I feel like I am finding life becoming more balanced. If you are feeling a hole or staples I would go see the surgeon. Just to get checked..... better to be safe, than sorry. Best Wishes... Tina -
Question - Clear Liquids 3 Weeks Post-Op
T'snewstart replied to Khloé's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi and best wishes with the surgery..... Each Dr. is different..... I lowfat cream soups (strained) , diet snapple, sugar free popsicles, decaf tea, priemer protein shakes 2 a day each one contains 30 grams of protein. Sams club & Costco have them by the case....Honestly I would be careful not to stock up too much.... your tastes can change..... When the Surgeon warned me of this I thought he was nuts.... But he was right. Something I have really enjoyed is the "crush brand" packets you add to water..... they sell strawberry, grape, and orange flavors.....they are sugar free and taste just like crush soda without the sugar and carbonation. Again best wishes you! -
Shocked by other Patients Choices immediatly after surgery
T'snewstart replied to zoekids's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Honest I too am amazed that anyone would want food after this surgery but it happens. A lady had this same surgery right after me. Same surgery same surgeon..... a few hours after being brought to my room it was time for a walk around the halls. Really relieved the gas pressure. Anyway as I making the corner turn I hear this women's voice calling my name. As She approaches me she asked if I was hungery.... I said no are you kidding me? She looked at me with tears in her eye's & said no joke I am starving. I felt sad for her. I knew she had a rough road ahead.... I asked the surgeon about it. He said 50 % of his patients completely lose their appetite and those that do will have to remind their self to eat..... at that point I considered myself to be one of the lucky ones! I have spent my life struggling this drive to eat ...... And that landed me in the desperation of gross obesity.... wondering if I would ever find a way out...... Today I am 13 weeks post op and could not be more grateful..... My sleeve lets me know when it's time to eat. I get this empty hallow feeling and check my watch. Sure enough its been 4 hours or so and its time for food. I got a long winded sorry for that...... Guess I just wanted to say I am so Happy and feel real lucky I was in the 50% that lost hunger & I love the freedom my sleeve has brought me...... NO MORE UNHEALTHY DRIVE FOOD... best wishes to all! Sleeved on 01/29/13. Any other sleevers this week? I'm in some pain. got some questions
T'snewstart replied to rxkid2384's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi first congratulations....I was in the hospital for 2 days as well. The most important thing is keeping the liquids going. I drank premier shakes when I got home. Drank 2 a day that counted as 22 oz of fluid. I had cream soups (low fat and strained) that was more fluid. I had a hard time with plain water and still do 3 Months out. So I drank diet snapple ..... I would use a timer and set it for every 15 min. In the beginning so I could get in all the fluids. It was hard for me in the first two weeks...it got easier. As to bowel movements.....It took me 12 days to have one and it was dark as well...... A long as you are having one about every 2 to 3 days I was told that is normal. I had pain as well. My Dr. Priscribed liquid medicine.... And pills that dissolve on the tongue for nausea. If you we're not prescribed them I would call and ask for them. It was hard to tell the difference from pain and gas.... However, remember that you just had a major surgery and there is swelling involved. Gas and swelling is painful.....As the swelling goes down so will the discomfort. When I felt gas I would walk around and it helped. I also bought some over the counter "Gas X Strips" those have been a life saver and still are ...... I hope this info helps... Best wishes! Tina -

Colon Cleanse please help
T'snewstart replied to Carol Watts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used of those as well and nothing....finally I used suppositories and it worked. It took me making sure I was getting in At least 64 oz of flluids to get some relief. My surgeon was very clear after my post op appt. that all of those colon helpers work by drawing the fluids to that part of our bodies. If we are not drinking enough (and I was not) then these helpers will not work. I honestly felt like I was passing rocks and that is no lie. When I was at 2 month out and drinking decaf coffee in the morning it helped me lots. Needless to say I drink the decaf coffee daily. For me it is normal to go every two days. Hope this helps you some. Forgive me if it was a bit to graphic. Best Wishes Tina -
Good night all, wish me luck.

Good Luck.... Best Wishes for a quick recovery..... -
It took me about 3 months to be able to eat the foods I enjoy... life has become normal. I go out with friends...eat in restaurants ..... tiny portions of course. But, I am there and enjoying time with friends....I was really worried at the 6 week Mark....I felt so drained all the time..... sometime between the 8th and 10th week it all changed. I hope the same for you! Best Wishes Tina

Shelley no belly.... I know this is going to sound so simplistic however, it's what comes to mind. Think back.....what worked in the past? You have taken off over 100 lbs That is proof you are not a failure at all. Stuck maybe but not a failure.... I would just go back to what worked and plug back into that....Hope this helps! Best Wishes.... Tina

Is Muscle and Join Pain Normal..... (not caused by working out)
T'snewstart replied to T'snewstart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi UT Gal99 Actually I do pretty well with the vitimans. However, I can' t lie I do forget on occasion. Thank you for your response....guess I will have to be more faithful. -
I have to agree be persistent with your PCP & surgeon until you get concrete answers. Never feel bad for going to the ER or any other Dr. when you need to. Their lack of bedside manner has nothing to do with you. I would complain to that hospital concerning their response after you have recovered. There is no excuse for that type of behavior. I do hope you are feeling better today and the days to come.....best wishes Tina

fyre if I was in your shoes I would head to urgent care to get checked out. Best Wishes and I will be praying for you as well....
