First Roadtrip. What do u eat?
T'snewstart replied to JP69's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I do not leave my house without having packed 3 little meals. I also pack 2 premier shakes 30 grams of of Protein. I toss in a Protein Bar (pure protein) it is 20 grams of protein. I have a social life and do go out with friends and family. If I find myself in a situation that there truly is nothing I can order a side dish or appetizer. I go out to the car and get my goodies in the car. So far this system has worked for me. It has helped me to feel in control and has kept me from going hungry or eating something I shouldn't. Best wishes and I hope this helps! Tina -
I also ate oatmeal really early ... During the soft foods portion of the diet. I still eat it on occasion. I am 3. 1/2 months out and I can only eat 1/2 of a packet of instant oatmeal and it has to be a bit watery. If I eat anymore than that I feel miserable. It is true it takes time to figure out what you can tolerate. Best wishes to you!

Will i still be hungery, as i am post op? Having surgery feb 18 th.

I hope to encourage you.... This surgery Is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Honestly, it is like having built in portion control. When I do eat I fill up real fast. It is awesome. I am sure your husband is a bit nervous about this surgery. I had a couple people in my life have the same response as your husband. However, those people today have a complete different outlook on this surgery. I wish you well and hope you are in the 50% of the people that lose hunger! It is wonderful to be free of the drive for food... Best of luck! Tina -
Will i still be hungery, as i am post op? Having surgery feb 18 th.
T'snewstart replied to FatMamaw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery 11/7/12 and I no longer feel hunger. So I would agree with your friend. I do feel a empty stomach feeling and know its time to eat. Usually I am way past time I should have ate. I have had days that I have forgotten to eat also. When I have done that the next day I make sure i do not skip Meals. I asked my surgeon about the lack of hunger and he said 50% of his patients lose their feelings of hunger. He could not explain why the others do not. I personally had a hard time getting in all the liquids in the beginning. And food was really restricted. Fluids go down real easy now at 3 1/2 months out. I can sip, sip, and sip more. About 74 oz of fluids daily. Sorry for rambling...hope this helps! And best wishes Tina -
Help, 3 months post op!
T'snewstart replied to Christina760's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I was sleeved the same day. For me it depends on what I am eating. Some things I am limited to 3/4 cup and I am stuffed. However, it you give me cottage cheese for example I can eat much more. Most people hit the 3 month stall....So try not to panic! I had a 1 lbs wieght loss last week and this week 2 lbs. So it will slow down sometimes. However, I have lost tons of inches. In the last month I have lost 2 clothing sizes. So when the scale isn't moving fast turn your attention to your clothing! That sure has helped me! Best Wishes! Hope this has helped! -

Solid food struggle
T'snewstart replied to julfisch831's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I struggled also. Things get better don't get frustrated.....It took me pushing through the nausea. I called the Dr and got pills for the nausea. That helped tons. I was sleeved 11/7/12, I can drink 72 oz`s of fluid a day. However, I sip, sip,sip all day. I can not drink large drinks or I will feel nausea. If I eat food to fast and do not chew enough I feel nausea. Hope this helps. Best Wishes. Tina -

Hi I struggled in the beginning as well. I would say it was difficult to get in all the liquids for the first month. I am now 3 1/2 post op and get in about 74 oz of liquids a day. I have to sip all day. I can't gulp at all. If I take to big of a drink it's painful. Hope this helps .....Best Wishes

Extreme fatigue-is it my age?
T'snewstart replied to DebLW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Deb it took me 6 weeks to feel full strength. Most people I know it has taken them about one month to feel full strength. I am 49 years old. But I continually had to remind myself that this was major surgery. I know it's hard but, please try to be patient. You will get your strength back soon. Best Wishes Tina -

. Hunger is this normal? Post op I had a conversation with my surgeon about this... He explained that 50 % of his patients still have hunger post op. So based on that conversation Yes it is normal. I noticed when I have gas I mistake it as hunger... I hope this helps! Best Wishes Tina -
