T'snewstart replied to bonita19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, I was shocked at by that comment and still am. I had no idea this person was so shallow. I feel for her and her issues. However, I will not be around anyone that treats me that way. We really do not talk much anymore. It is just sad to me that this has happened. But, not in my control! My desire to get healthy was not only physical.... If it takes removing people from my life then I will!!! Thank you for your honesty!!! Tina -
Congratulations you look fabulous! Best Wishes on the interview!

Who has been more supportive - your fat friends or your skinny friends?
T'snewstart replied to bonita19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish the was a right or wrong answer to that. For me and my friends I tried to keep my "big friends" involved. It started out we were going to do this together. I did my sleeve and they were supposed to diet and exercise. Well they fell into temptation and didn't get back up. I never said one negative word......just encouraged them to try....I would only talk about it if they brought it up. I came to the conclusion that I have done all I can. They have to walk their own journey.... I hope the best for you and yours.... I have my fingers crossed this will turn for the good with my friends also.... Best Wishes -
Hi and welcome! You sounds like a amazing and I giving person! Good for you taking this step and giving to yourself what you have giving to others! The gift of life! You will be happy you have. Made this choice! Best Wishes!

Welcome and congratulations! Yes, you will be glad you had the surgery once you feel all the positive things to come! For me just having the pain form my joints go away made it worth it all! At first it's overwhelming. But, once life settles and feel more normal WOW it's fantastic! This is the best decision I have ever made for my life! I am confident you will say the same! You will get to the point you enjoy food again.....l it will just be much smaller amounts! Best wishes!

Who has been more supportive - your fat friends or your skinny friends?
T'snewstart replied to bonita19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would have to say the " thinner people" have been more supportive. I have had a few awkward and sad situations with my "fat" friends. Even to the point it bothered them I got full so fast. I got a few comments like " Oh Great" now I will be the fattest one in the group. When that type of conversation happened it was the last time we got together. I guess we all realized that some how it just got unhealthy. I personally would be there for any one of them that wanted to deal with their weight. However, they are not ready. I refuse to feel bad about such a positive thing in my life. So the big friends and I have just pulled away from each other. It seems to have been a mutual thing really. We do call each other to catch up... But even those calls are short and sweet. Sad bit true... I have to admit I didn't see that one coming! -
. Yes, this has happened to me. There were a group of us that would hang out. Last summer it was every weekend and some week days as well. Anyhow, I was " the biggest one" in the group. When I started to lose wieght I would get comments like "great now I am the fattest one in the group" I guess I really did not pay attention before. I had not realized my extreme size made them feel better about their obesity. Now that I have lost wieght none of us feel comfortable around each other. It is sad. I have done my best not to make anyone feel uncomfortable in their own skin. I am just doing my thing. When we would have get together after I was post op I would bring foods I could eat. And eat my small portion. This is sad .... But even that would make her angry. She would actually go to the extreme and say what you are full already? At that point I had eaten 2 chicken wings and a slice of tomatoe. I would smile and say yes. So At that point I realized it was time to pull away. None of us make any real efforts to do anything together. A phone every now and then is about it. Even the phone calls are short and sweet. Honestly, it does make me sad. However, I refuse to feel bad about such a postive thing in my life. So I am moving on. Who is to say what happen down the road. I hope that one day when they are ready to deal with their wieght issues we can reconnect and have something in common. Sorry for the book .... Guess I didn't realize how many people had the same experience in one form or another!

Sad moods since wls
T'snewstart replied to SLEEVEDNBEAUTIFUL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through a series of emotions after surgery. There was so much to absorb and understand. I had to wrap my brain around the fact I just had major surgery. My entire life was going to be different.... For the rest of my life! I was over whelmed with just trying to get in all the daily liquids at first. Then I found this web site and got so many of my questions answered. I took a deep breath and relaxed! Once I went back to work and had a daily routine.... Life started to settle. Even now at just past 4 months I still have to make mental adjustments.... So for me I just take one day at a time. I try to continue to seek support on this web site and the people that love me. Best Wishes! -
Every Dr. Does things differently.... Also it is best to keep in mind that your Dr. Knows "you" and what "your needs are" so it is best to follow the Dr's instruction. Your desires and needs are very different post op. No need to worry ! Best Wishes

PRE-OP Diet: TODAY I MESSED UP, BIG HUGE MEGA TIME :-(
T'snewstart replied to PatliPriya's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I did my last week before surgery.... I had some fried chicken and French fries for what I called the last supper..... This is not a license to do this again. . However, I got back on track for the rest of the way. Had a decent weight loss even my surgeon was surprised..... My liver was fine. That being said I would get back on track and drink tons of water to flush your systems out ladies! You can do this!!! A you are almost there! -

. Welcome! Wow you have had a long journey! Best wishes in the up doing months! I hope your stomach heals quicker than expected! Tina -
I was on liquids for 2 weeks post op. Meaning low fat soups strained. Broth, sugar free popsicles, protein shakes, sugar free jello..... etc. it was not easy for me the first 2 weeks to get in all the required liquids. When the swelling went down everything got easier!

Yes I do feel free.... I have also noticed the foods I desire are different. I crave salad and healthy foods. I am still not at a place where I eat much bread or carbs at all. I find myself wanting much more variety than before. It is nice to be free!
