T'snewstart replied to butterfly_gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate it right out of the container. And did just fine.... I swapped it for Greek yogurt... Could not stomach the yogurt.... Anyhow to this day I enjoy cottage cheese daily! -
Newbie going through Options program
T'snewstart replied to AddryW's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Options Classes are 3 months of weekly classes Kaiser Hospital requires each patient to take. They give you a huge binder full of info and it is all in prep for the before and after surgery info the patients need. I had to take them and I am glad I did! -
I had a appointment with my primary Dr. Today. She looked at me and said..... Do you realize you have just about lost 100 lbs already...... I still can not wrap my brain around this..... I could not be more happy.... Has anyone else had this experience..... Having a hard time wrapping your brain around something?

You can do it! You got this! -
me too i have stumbled many times and blew it off. how funny..... at least i know i am not alone lol.

I was a freak for Diet Dr. Pepper... Yep I would drink at least 3 a day..... I loved them.... Funny though I do not even have the slightest desire for one now. I never in a million years thought that would happen. knock on wood lol! I thought that would be my biggest struggle. My food tastes have changed as well. I used to be one of those persons that could eat the same thing for days and it would not bother me. Now forget it. I need variety.... I can not stand to repeat the same meal day after day. That is funny to me also! So yes, I agree my tastes have completely changed!

Honestly, I have not had that problem.... I was real sore at the incision sites at my waist line for a few months. I really paid attention and realized I was doing a bit too much bending etc. so a did less of that and felt better. However, if I were you I would call the dr.'s office and let them know. Perhaps this is common and they can tell you what to do to that the pain. Best Wishes!

I was having the same problem..... A nurse told me to add warm prune juice and that did the trick! It was hard to drink it at first . However, the results made it worth it! Hope this helps....I so feel your pain....

At 4 1/2 months out ..... Cooking smaller portions.... I know that sounds crazy.... But, I was so used to cooking a fair amount knowing I would eat it. Well all I can say is I have been freezing a lot of mini meals......

Hi Amanda how you feeling? I would not say I have been sleeved for a long time 4. 1/2 months. However, I wanted to chime in. My sleeve is treating me great! It is so nice to have built in portion control. Life feels normal now.... Loving the changes in my body!

I struggled to get in all the fluids the first few weeks. my surgeon said count all fluids going into your body which includes protein shakes. I actually set a timer for every 15 min. to get in all the fluids. That might sound extreme but it honestly got me through the hardest part. Best Wishes

New to be sleever & my story
T'snewstart replied to 4anewme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you for sharing your story! It is hard sometimes to put all of our personal experiences out there for the world to read. You will be happy you have made this decision. All though we differ in life one experiences the pain of living the "big life" is the same. I been big all my life and struggled with weight. And let me tell you this has been one of the most freeing things I have ever done. I no longer struggle with food. Your little tummy will have built in portion control. That in itself is awesome. It is difficult to over eat. You will not be comfortable and it is not worth it. It is so worth it doing this surgery and I would do it again tomorrow if I needed to. The freedom that it brings is life changing. No more guilt or shame regarding food... WOW I never thought I would see that day. Best wishes to you! Tina -
No regrets...well maybe one... That I did not do this sooner. My life has changed so much. I could hardly wait to be more active. I was so tired of sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else in my life enjoy physical activities. I could hardly wait to be a part of the fun. I can now sit wherever I want in restaurants, ball parks etc. because I can fit in the seats. Before surgery that was always a problem. So NO regrets. At first it takes time to adjust to the "new tummy" and the changes that come with it. However, it is the best decision I have ever made in my life. I finally feel free of the ball and chain that has weighed me down every since I can remember! Best wishes on your journey! Tina

Am I sabotaging myself?
T'snewstart replied to Luchie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had string cheese and it goes down just fine. My weight loss has not suffered at all! I would say get as much protein and fluids in as you can! Have you tried scrambled eggs? That is another major source of protein I use. Oh yeah I eat low fat cottage cheese daily. Best wishes! Tina -
How long does the surgical procedure take?
T'snewstart replied to PatliPriya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine took 1 hour 15 min. Was faster than thr Dr. Expected! -
if you are in the mood for something sweet.. you could use sugar free jello. another option is PB2 powder that would be yummy I think I will try that...

Can someone explain this to me...?
T'snewstart replied to Ro2x's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
On surgery day for me my goal was to lose approx. 160 lbs, on that same day a friend had her surgery her goal was to lose 90 lbs. her weigh loss is slower because she has less body fat. In the beginning she would get frustrated with the amount I was losing and wondered why was her numbers going so slow. What helped her was to pay attention to inches lost etc. Now that we're are 4 1/2 months post op she is not far from her goal. I am a little over half way there. So yes the numbers are different but, you have less to lose. You will get there faster than someone with more body fat. I hope this is making sense... Sorry if it seems like I am rambling! Best wishes Tina -
I still do not stomach plain water very well. It took me a few weeks before being able to tolerate drinking warm liquids. I just assumed it was because of the swelling. I use "crush" flavored packets for my water. I kid you not they taste just like soda. My biggest crutch before surgery was soda pop. So this has been a life saver for me. Things will get easier ...... Best wishes Tina

. Greetings and welcome..... I did the options classes as well. A lot of the info you get in those classes will not click until post op. It is normal to be nervous / afraid. This is a big decision and should not be taken lightly. It will completely change your life. That being said this is the best decision I have ever made. I am 4 1/2 months post op. I have yet to hit a stall. I had a few weeks in a row where I only lost 1 lb. but no stall.... No secrets or special tricks. I am sure a stall will come for me at some point. I stay very active.... They more weight I lose the easier that becomes. This web site helped me so much right after surgery. I have been on this site every since. My life feels more "normal" now. In the beginning it is a lot to get used to.... You will have to adjust to having a tiny stomach. But, once you do you will love! It is like having built in portion control. For me that has been a freedom I sought after all my life! I wish you the bests with your journey! Sincerely, Tina
