Post-Op update12/28 - Restrictiveness question
Christie1186 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was 12/28/12 and everything went exceptionally well so far. I was in a lot of pain when I woke up from anesthesia, but other than that I was fairly comfortable in the hospital. I got up a few hours after surgery. I could use the restroom by myself. I’m on day 8 now, and besides getting tired very easily and not being able to bend down or twist, I’m doing great. Of course my mind always has to worry about something… I feel like I might be doing too well. I haven’t gotten sick off of anything yet. I started my full liquid diet and everything does down without a problem. I still can't really tell when I'm hungry or full yet. I’m kinda worried that this surgery might not be restrictive enough. Of course I haven’t tried to gulp down a bottle of Water or eat a full bowl of cream of wheat, but I’m a little concerned that I haven’t had any bad consequences yet. Was your recovery this easy as far as not being very restrictive? Did you feel more restricted when you started eating solid foods? Thanks for your time, Christie -
any new orleans ladies?

I'm from the Houma/Thibodaux area. Had surgery 12/28. I'm still adjusting to the sleeve vs Louisiana eating mindset. It's very difficult to focus on health when everyone around you constantly talks about the great fattening food they're eating. It's embedded in our society. -
Pre-surgery jitters. Less than 48 hours!

I've been reading this forum for weeks but I think it's time I finally join and introduce myself. I'm Christie, from south Louisiana and have been interested in gastric sleeve surgery for over a year. My surgery date is 12/28/12. I've done my homework on the technicalities of the surgery and want to thank all of the members of this forum for letting me look into their experiences. The most nerve wracking part of this part of the journey is not knowing exactly what to expect. I'm writing a list of what to pack for the hospital and trying to figure out what I need to get done before I go in. This isn't as simple as I expected. Will it be necessary to have someone with me 24/7 when I get back from the hospital? What limitations will I be facing when I get home? I know everyone reacts differently to surgery, but ANY tips, personal experience, or advice will help. Thanks! -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"

-The first time I struggled to buckle a seat belt in a car. I was avioding scales for months because I was in such denial. -Buying clothes online only because nothing decent looking fits me from a store. -Not being able to walk for more than a block without being out of breath. -The biggest factor was very recently graduating with a Criminal Justice degree and realizing that I won't be able to pass the physical to work in Law Enforcemene unless I change my life completely and lose weight.
