    January 2013 Sleevers?

Hi Januaries! I'm two days post now- have been feeling surprisingly good, very little pain- walking a lot- no discernible gas. Feeling awesome. Excited to see how I do with fluids and foods! Just took blue dye leak test and should be leaving the clinic today. Happiness to all!

    Starting to get scared

I'm five days away from surgery and going through all of these same thoughts. I'm watching myself struggle with the pre op diet, fail SO many times on it, and wonder how in the hell I'm going to be successful after surgery? It's a mind scramble. This is taking a lot of faith, a lot of realistic evaluation of my history and patterns, and the forgiveness to keep going, keep trying.
  8. What a great idea! I'm going to carry around some dog food bags for a little while and remind myself what I'm losing! Good for you - love hearing about your success!

    before and after

    Way to go!
  10. Thank you for sharing the gorgeous pictures--you look amazing! But thank you EVEN MORE for the honest reporting about your fears and the roller coastering, and doubts along the way. I'm a week away from surgery and hope to find the same success and inspiration you have!
  11. How long did it take for you to detect what your best range for calories was after your surgery? And how could you tell? Such a great thread. I have been thinking that ultra restricting calories after surgery is only going to exacerbate the starvation mode and metabolism slowing.

    Tall Sleevers? 6'?

Thank you for creating this thread! I'm 6', 266 lbs, getting my sleeve in a week! My goal is 170. I haven't been under 200 lbs since I was 21 (I'm 41). I love love love being tall- just missing that tall AND slender description.... can I join your Facebook group too?

Do you ever regret your surgery?

What a powerful thread. I'm getting surgery in two weeks and like many of you, I'm noticing how much I'm dropping in the pre-op diet, and the "see, I can do this on my own", "do I really NEED this surgery?" thoughts are flying. That, combined with most people trying to argue me out of the surgery because they don't think I'm heavy enough for it (silly people, you just don't realize how much weight I can spread out on a six foot body), has me doubting myself at times. But the fact remains, I'm 95 lbs overweight. I have fluctuated between 50 and 110 lbs overweight for 25 years now. This is not a new dance for me. I deserve a medal for being an expert dieter (Slimfast, Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, Atkins, Hcg, fat free, Soup diet, etc), and I deserve a bigger medal for Fastest Regainer, EVERY SINGLE TIME. In fact, I've never had a one month stretch of maintaining any level of weight loss, it's always an immediate give up and steady climb from there. I know that I'm going to cry myself to sleep at night sometimes wondering why I did this. I know that I'm going to be the crazy ex-girlfriend with my bff food. But I'm also fairly certain that I'm going to wake up to life again and have the energy and passion that has been missing for too long. I'm not going to hide socially. And I will love not avoiding mirrors or seeking out the back row in any photo. It's a huge step. I wish my life book would have a chapter about me losing weight naturally and keeping it off happily ever after, but let's face it, that's not my story. I'm giving it a slightly different chapter but still insisting on the happily ever after.

  20. Really?? That's beyond incredible!
  21. Hi all - I'm getting set for surgery in a month, and I've read many times over about hair thinning and loss. I already have very thin, fine hair, so I'm wondering if there's any way to prevent or lessen how dramatic the hair loss will be?
