I Want To See Before & After Pics!

Sleeved Jan 28, 2013. So almost 11 months out. Have lost 90 lbs. I'm 6'0", 42 years old. What an amazing year it has been. I've found myself again! 2013 has been so much more than just losing weight -- it's been Tawny scuba diving again, hiking the Grand Canyon, taking spinning classes, playing volleyball, and falling in love with the most wonderful man on the planet. And 2014 is going to be even better!

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!

I'm 6'0", 42 years old. Had surgery January 2013 at 266 lbs, now at 176. Wearing a size 10-12. Feel good, look great, despite a little bit of loose skin on my belly. Don't think I should go any lower than 170.

    awkward first dates!

So this is not really a complaint, as much as just laughing at my new reality. But being newly sleeved, and going on some first dates lately (where obviously I'm not going to be sharing my surgery story), I eat like the silly bird girl who picks at her food and wants to appear all petite. Hahaha! That's so not me or my personality but my sleeve is the boss right now. So first date bird eating it is...

    3 weeks out eating about 1200 cal/day

I'm fur months out and eat 1000-1200 calories a day. All healthy. Losing just fine. Definitely feel hunger when I'm too low on calories.

8 months and 82 pounds gone!

    Awesome progress, darling dress!
  8. I'm an LCSW - have been a therapist for 14 years. Love seeing my own therapist while on this journey - this surgery, the decision, and then the process afterwards is an intense one. I recommend it for everyone trying to reprogram their overweight brain.

I Want My Stomach And My Money Back! (J/k)

So what have you tried to change up? More calories? Fewer calories? More protein? A different/more intense exercise regiment? If your truly in a 3 month stall, do SOMETHING different. What does your nutritionist advise?

    New to this...and already frustrated

I totally agree about not weighing yourself daily!!! I weigh myself at most once a week, it helps me stay focused on getting healthy rather than just a fluctuating number. It will do you good and reduce your anxiety!

I have almonds almost daily. No problems. Started at about week 5.

    $27,385.95

Wow. American healthcare, go figure. Either they don't cover us at all (like mine) or they do, but the costs are exhorbitant. Even if you have the whole thing covered (lucky you), someone has to pay that $30,000 bill -- and we wonder why our insurance costs are so high. I went to Mexico, $4000 for everything - excellent care. Something is really backwards in our country.

Broke my stall, decided to weigh in only once a week

so smart. Weighing once a week also reduces the frustration of the little ups and downs (well, the ups anyway).

2 weeks post op, and I GAINED 2 lbs?

I went through the same thing. Who knows why....and I agree it's very frustrating. But I figure our bodies are doing a lot of adjusting and stabilizing right now so anything can be expected. Hang in there, it gets back on track. I just went to Europe for 2 weeks, didn't have a single croissant or piece of chocolate, or a plate of pasta (SO wrong in Italy) - totally stuck to plan, walked miles and miles each day, and came home 2 lbs heavier. Go figure. But I'm sticking with it, I know it will readjust. Good luck to you.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

    Congrats! Thats gotta feel good!
  17. Sleeved on January 28th, so I am 5 weeks out. Have lost 21 pounds from surgery. Feeling great, can drink easily and tolerate everything. I'm following the nutrition guidelines for protein and calories and exercising at least 5 days a week. I do wish the weight loss was a little faster, there were 2 weeks that I didn't lose a single pound. But overall I'm very happy with this and feeling great with all of this energy.
  18. That's pretty messed up to charge for a support group, unless they're willing to provide actual therapy in it.
  19. That's really great. I'm so intrigued. Would love to hear down the road how you think it is, after you've done it a while.
