    Surgery 12/19/12

I had sleeve on the 19 but from all the reading on this forum and talking to the doctor and nutritionist everyone is different. I am already drinking and eating an amount that people take months to get to. They say it has all to do with the swelling post surgery and the tightness. I felt horrible the first 3-4 days but since then have quickly upped my intake and I have yet to get sick.
  5. My name is Kristine, I am 24 years old and I had the sleeve surgery on Dec 19. My surgery was done in fast forward. I had thought about surgery years ago but never really went and did the research. This summer it really got stuck in my head that I really wanted to go through with it. I told my mom and she was not very supportive, but I was to the point that I was in constant pain, couldn't stand being on my feet (which by the way is my job I am a teacher), and had no energy at all. I kept saying I was going to do it and never went to see doctors. Finally I went to Disney which I do multiple times in a year and for the first time ever I had to be in a wheel chair. It killed my mother to see me in it. I have always been a bad eater. I am beyond picky and really only enjoy eating out nothing home cooked or prepared. I kept thinking I would lose weight when I started teaching because I would Benin my feet all day and started having breakfast and lunch from home but I ended up gaining 25 pounds in one year. Enough was enough and I saw my surgeon for the first time Nov 26 and because I was self pay had the surgery 3 weeks later. I lost 10 pounds prior to surgery when I was on the liquid diet and have lost 8 in this past week after surgery. I begin my journey which I know will be beyond difficult and know that I need to start therapy and the support groups ASAP. I have read about people not eating and ring in pain and I was the first three days post op but now I tolerate many things and depending on the day and time can eat 4-6oz of lentils and yogurt and I can drink 8oz of decaf coffee/hot chocolate. The fact that I am eating/drinking more than some people who have had the surgery months ago really scares me. Did the doctor leave to much of my stomach in? Is this going to work?
  6. I had my surgery one week ago and I am young 24 and I did need someone with me. I was in lots of pain after surgery. My mom stayed home with me 6 days after surgery mostly to feed me or give me drinks and to help me in and out of bed/chairs. Since you can't use your abdominal muscles because they hurt so bad or can cause a hernia if you do you really can't lift your upper body on your own. Today was my first day without her but I still need a little help sitting up in bed. Walk walk walk not only does it get rid of gas which you will know what we are all talking about after you don't want a clot of pneumonia. It also really helps me with back pain from sitting or laying too long. I didn't think about this when I went into surgery but once I got home ad was super uncomfortable my grandfather had to Ning me his recliner. It hurts to sit normal for a whirl an he got me an electric one that even stands you up which helps a lot. I have friend who slept in one for two weeks after surgery because it hurts to lay on a normal flat bed, luckily my mom had one of those beds that moves up and down like a hospital one. Everyone is different but this is my experience.
